Will RC 3 or 4 read .RTE flight plans for pmdg's fmc?

Featured Replies

The reason i ask is that i need an atc program which will vector my flight as my fmc flys the same flight plan. Pmdg has .RTE and fs9 uses .pln, what about RC?Thanks from Joe

i'm glad someone asked.....can someone give me the file format for a .rte file? i'd be happy to try to read it, like i rean .pln fileswhat concerns me about your statement, "i need an atc program which will vector my flight as my fmc flys the same flight plan"rc is not going to vector you to meet your flight plan. if the fmc flies the flight plan, then rc and the fmc will get along fine. but keep in mind, when you contact approach, approach is going to vector you, regardless of what your fmc says.also, rc is going to descend you when it thinks you need to start descending.now in v4, we are going to make a menu option that allows for you to ask for the initial descent clearance to be at pilots discretion. that will allow you to let the fmc fly the plane.if you know what the rte format is, contact me directly [email protected]

Hi thanks for the reply i understand that the atc (RC) has the priority in vectoring and i will need to adjust my fmc to the new waypoint or fix right? Now does Rc call the waypoints by there name so i can type it in my fmc, I don't exactly fly with maps because i fly anywhere in the world. Hope i make sense. As far as the format i'll look into it. I just bought the pmdg so i'm new to it. And i'm also a newbie to Rc.Joe

no rc will not call the checkpoints by name. but the next checkpoint is always displayed on the first line of the advdispyou can also do a ctrl-shift-p (bey default) which will show the future checkpoints, distances and headings. you can scroll through all of the .pln file that was loaded into rc, until you get the arrival airportjd

I would assume, especially in the version 4 upcoming, that just like real-world, real-time corrections for traffic avoidance requires vectors and ATC speed requests to maintain seperation. In this case the pilot must issue commands to the FMC with it operating in the correct mode. I'm especially talking about the departure and approach environments. As stated many times, you can input a STAR and DP but especially with a STAR it can be canceled when necessary to maintain the current landing pattern required by weather and traffic density. That being said, for enroute, it would certainly be nice to create the plan (or recall a stored one) in the FMC and then export it directly to RC.There is one comment I can't refuse (you know me!):In reading about the real world operation of a Saab-340B by Australian Regional Express as published in the Jan and Feb 2003 issues of Computer Pilot, it was mentioned that the PNF "briefed" the FMC as soon as approach declared the expected arrival runway. I assume that a stored procedure might have been recalled or the arrival waypoints would have been entered at that point. It would be nice to export those waypoint dynamicly to RC to modify the plan for the expected arrival. Of course, RC already knows the arrival runway and the FMC follows ATC (via pilot input), not the other way around.Any comment from you or your pals?
