Back to V3

Late yesterday (near midnight Aussie time) I loaded Radar Contact v3. after a reasonably lengthy absence and sent off for the code to get me operational. The code arrived in my email box within hours and I was ready to go. Thanks for the prompt response. :D I duly picked my way through the various parts and flew from Perth (WA) to Adelaide (SA). Upon landing I was foolish enough to select the option of a flight critique. Who was the person who dumped on me from a great height? I'm gonna sue for defamation when I find out! :-mad Sure I was a bit slow to react on a couple of occasions and certainly refused to take avoiding action to an aircraft that was clearly a secret project operating in stealth mode and was flying 2,000 feet above me on a crossing track. Having said the above the only question I have is why the 'controller' asks for course deviations when a conflict does not exist as outlined above?Anyway - I'm gonna keep going and will be Radar Contact ready the minute v4 is released. I may even record my own voice for the pilot/co-pilot role. Just one question in relation to this, Will voice sets still be compatible with the new version? RegardsAndy b

A couple of tips from a long time user:1. Follow the pinned topic to get the latest version and sound sets and the latest FSUIPC.2. Turn on in options interact with AI. You will get traffic targets called to you if you have traffic set up in FS9 AI.3. Turn off in options random traffic vectors - that's your "stealth" stuff that does not exist in FS9 AI. In the current 3.1 that is the only reason to my knowledge that fantasy course deviations would be requested.4. I am not sure what relative altitude difference is the threshold for AI traffic warnings but I have not found them intrusive.5. I always turn on NOTAMS for approach. All of my aircraft are equipped with some kind of TCAS so I can make variations in approach speed and minor avoidance heading or altitude changes if possible to control the traffic merge and target avoidance. It helps.6. If you have AI running and you use an external weather program refresh the AI after the initial weather writes are complete. This can be done by adjusting your FS clock by one minute forward or using in a fully registered FSUIPC a button/key assignment to toggle AI off, then on. When AI reloads their flight patterns will now match weather and ATIS will be up to date.

A more than useful response - thank you.I just realised that whilst I have v3.1 installed my shortcut pointed to v3.0 duh!!That explains why the Interact with AI was not on the options panel.I assume point 3 refers to Traffic V's - correct? Thanks for the other suggestions - I'm off now to check em out.On a final note, when my aircraft is called by ATC it uses the Aircraft name then recites the call sign using the phonetic alphabet. Is it realsitic? When eavesdropping on ATC I'm sure they would say VIRGIN not go through the phonetic description. Imagine Speedbird - you would be landed and shutdown by the time they had finished calling you to give landing clearance.Andy b

Yes, in point 3 I was refering to the traffic vector settings. The airline name is selected in the options tab from a dropdown. If it does not exist in the wave files then the tail number is used with phonetics.

>Yes, in point 3 I was refering to the traffic vector>settings.>>The airline name is selected in the options tab from a>dropdown. If it does not exist in the wave files then the tail>number is used with phonetics.>Thanks again but what I was referring to is in this example:I select Virgin Blue from the list and RC3 recognises it and says the name in full. I also select the Virgin Blue call sign which is Virgin. I would expect that RC3 would call me as say Virgin 737 (but have I identified the type of aircraft anywhere?) or Virgin Blue but what it does do is calls 'Virgin Blue' then 'Victor India Romeo Golf India November' then on to the message. Just seems to take a long while to spit out.Andy b

do you have a virgin.wav and virginblue.wav in all of your winwood0, 1, 2, 3, .... 12 directories?jd

Maybe some confusion here:Pick the airline from the options in the drop down. This appears to be working according to your description. In the options tail number you type in either a flight number or tail number such as 1234, Not Virgin 1,2,3,4. The final call should be Virgin Blue one-two-three-four. Anything in the tail number is pronounced phoneticly. Is that correct jd?Make sense?

there are hundreds if not thousands of new wavs. one of the big challenges is getting them recorded, chopped, and convertedjd
