V4 - Ray...What's your favourite feature

Featured Replies

Ray,It it too soon to say what your favourite feature of V4 is?I mean in comparison to v3.x are you able to say what makes V4 a real pleasure to be using or something that v4 does that earlier versions don't?From reading all the posts on V4, I might say better approach and AI handling on touchdown.... :)I understand if you can't say....for what ever reasonRegardsMark

Mark,It's been so long since I flew with v3 I honestly can't remember what its limitations were.Best features of v4? Well, I'm speaking purely personally of course. I would say it's having ATC instructions dependent on FAA and non-FAA rules. We have a real-world UK controller on the team and his knowledge has been invaluable in advising the team on procedural differences when flying in UK and European air space. There are more differences that you might imagine and RC has them pretty well covered. And, if you have a traffic addon package (many of us have Ultimate Traffic at 100%) the realism as RC instructs other aircraft is wonderful. If I told you that I've just recorded a controller's voice set comprising 1,827 separate wav files it might give you some idea of how realistic flying with RCv4 will be. We're always looking out for volunteers for voice sets so if anyone feels they would like to help record either a pilot or controller set I'm sure JD would be very happy.Your flight will be handled better from the very start right up to when you depart the active and make your way to the gate. I've been testing it for what seems an age now and I never tire of what is a marvellous product. I have no idea when it will be released but you can rest assured that when it is it will be a fantastic product I know you and many others will thoroughly enjoy for a long time to come.BTW, they don't pay me for writing this. It's all from the heart :-)Cheers,

Ray (Cheshire, England).

Ray,Many thanks for your thoughts....Its very obvious from what you've written that you really do think V4 is a wonderful product. I'm sure JD, Doug and everyone else in the team must take great satisfaction and pride from the continued development of RC and now it seems poised to re-write the ATC rule book for FS once again. When I read your comments I felt proud to have have owned RC since v2 and in some way helped contribute to a project so evidently conceived and run by a truly dedicated and skilled team of FS enthusiasts and programmers.I'm sure I'm one of many hundreds who can't wait until V4 is released. Thanks to everyone involved.... :)RegardsMark

If recording a "Voice Set", will grant me a Beta version I am ready to start recording my Danish Accent, since I have had it with the Default FS2004 ATC. The following Screenshot shows how I was "controlled all over the place", and finally I had to land even though I was told to go around, since I was almost out of fuel:http://www.liljendal.dk/flightsim/Default_ATC_EKCH.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgPelle F. Pelle,That looks like an interesting flight ;-)I have no influence on who is accepted as a beta tester. If you would like to write to either John Decker or Doug Thompson their addresses can be found in the "Welcome to Radar Contact" message near the top of the list.Cheers,

send an email to [email protected] - he will send you a zip which contains the 36 test files for you to record. send them back to rick, and we'll run them through the audio processing script. if they sound good, we'll send you the full script. if they are too soft, or too loud, or the mike is too close to your mouth, or too far, we'll work with you to get them to sound right. then send you the full scriptafter we get the wavs back, i'll be happy to give you access to the curent v4 build.jd

Pelle,That's why I got into RC to begin with :-) Cheers,Mike T.

JD> Thanks JD I have just written Rick a mail, so time will show if I have a useable voice and/or I might posses some other skills required to become a Beta-Tester (been working as a Developer since 1990, and you might even have used one of my programs: FS-Interrogate bundled with Peter Dowson's FSUIPC SDK - by the way a new version is on its way).Ray> You write that you have a British Air Controller on the Beta Team (I know the chances are small) but he don't happen to go by the name Adrian Smith?http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgPelle F.
