July 8, 200520 yr OK, I know I'm going out on a limb for asking, but here I go anyway. I understand the "quality not calendar" sentiment, and I don't want any dates or guarantees on the release of v4.0. Having said that, other developers do offer status updates, screen shots, and keep users advised of what's going on, all without any date commitments or compromise of quality.I bought v3.1 in March, and the official word then was a vague hint that "you may want to wait for v4.0". There are some who may not have bought v3.1 since the implication was that v4.0 was coming soon. I bought, and I'm very glad I did, but if it was going to be months for v4.0, why not just say so? Why the secrecy? Can you offer any status update on v4.0? I plan to upgrade when it's released, but it would be nice to have a general idea if it's going to be weeks, months, or years away, if for no other reason than to keep from checking. I don't think that's unreasonable to ask.You may come back with the "quality not calendar" response, but I thought I had to ask. Thanks.
July 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member i released screen shots earlier in the year, maybe someone can post the link to themit will not be years til we release. it will not be a few weeks. i thought by summer it would be ready. i was wrong, which is why i'm not a project manager.here is where we're at. a couple of months ago, we asked for volunteers to record. i had about 11 responses. about 6 of them are actually doing recording. if you'd like to volunteer, contact [email protected]'ve finalized the scripts, pilot and controllers - finally ;-)as soon as the beta testers finish recording, and the volunteers finish recording, we'll start doing the audio processing. ray proudfoot and rick will be heading up that task.while that is going on, we will be doing heavy duty testing. essentially new development is finished. it's now a matter of cleaning up bugs.then there is updating the manual. if there are any technical writers, familiar with the way v3.x works, and would like to work on updating the manual for v4, contact me [email protected] (of course you'd have to have v4 to write about, right? hint hint)in my spare time, i'm creating a new web page (yuck)i will be visiting memphis at the end of july, and finalize the list of tasks remaining.then the cd's have to be burned, and new shipping arrangements worked out with the online ordering company.so there are many things left to do, that have nothing to do IF THEN ELSE ;-)i promise, i'll keep y'all postedjd JD Read my blog
July 9, 200520 yr Geez. Then I hope version 4 will be compatible with FS10. Sounds like they might be out about the same time.
July 9, 200520 yr Commercial Member since rc uses fsuipc for it's communications with fs, if fs10 and fsuipc work, rc will work. if they don't work together, there will be a ton of things that don't work. JD Read my blog
