December 19, 200520 yr I was under the impression that in RC4, if you have AI traffic enabled, RC will assign you the same runway as the AI.My question applies to multiple runway airports.I did a flight from Heathrow to Dubai yesterday, both airports with 2 parallel runways. At Heathrow, I have modified the AFCAD file so 27L is only available for takeoff and 27R only available for landing. And the AI was following this perfectly. 27L for departure, 27R for arrival. The ATIS gave 27L as the runway in use, but when I requested taxy I was given 27R. And on landing again in Dubai I was assigned the runway the AI were departing from, not landing on. Is this a normal RC procedure? Also, on short final in Dubai, after I had been cleared to land, an aircraft taxying from the landing runway to the terminal, crossed my runway half way down. Fortunately it had cleared by the time I touched down, but not by alot. I was under the impression ground AI were frozen when landing clearance was given.thanks for any help on these issues. A truly great product.-Phil Phil Brown
December 19, 200520 yr Hi Phil,As I understand it RC simply looks for the runways ai are using and will assign one of those, we're not distinguishing between used for landing or takeoff. You can always request a different runway of course. As far as the traffic crossing the runway is concerned we should be freezing traffic when you are on short final. It's possible he was already on the runway when RC looked to see what to freeze. In that case he's allowed to continue. We try not to actually freeze things which are on the runway! All the best,John
December 19, 200520 yr Commercial Member there were not ai taking off 27R. it just takes one for me to make it an option. maybe even a go around?the other plane was not seen as a threat, and you were allowed to land. no other planes positioned and held while you were on final though, i bet.jd JD Read my blog
December 19, 200520 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys.Yes there were a few go around's on the arriving runway. I did request 27R for departure - no problem there. And yes again, no-one lined up while I was on final, and I may have been too far out as suggested. The aircraft was able to clear well before I landed. Thanks for the replies.-Phil Phil Brown
