December 19, 200520 yr Hello Fellows,I tried RCV4 this week-end and have to say "I love it" I haven't used it since FS2000 days. I observed something that I need clarification though. Why is the instruction to climb to ALT FLXXX so sensitive? I mean after the request is granted to climb, the Controller expects me to do that in a matter of 3 or so seconds? Considering I have to dial the new ALT on the MCP,enter it into FMC and execute and then come back to hit the ALT buttom to release the command for the aircraft to start climbing; I think it is too early for the controller to start warning me (How does it compare to real world?). Also on the same flight, (FAJS-EDDF...real time/PMDG 744)I was handed to Munich control, then Franfurt control and Munich control and finally to Franfurt again why? ThnxGus
December 19, 200520 yr Commercial Member i give you 30 seconds, before i start moaningthe sectors/centers come from the bgl files. i can clean them up maybe, by assigning a bunch of sectors the same frequencyjd JD Read my blog

Is 30 seconds done in real world too? I remember watching CARGOLUX video and they were cleared to climb to FL370 from FL330, but they were instructed to be leveled by a waypoint (PRAWN). So from the time the captain requested the FL and the time he asked the FE (742)if they are "lightly okay to go up" could have been like 5-minites interval. Thnx
December 19, 200520 yr Hi gus,As far as the handoffs are concerned the most likely place for that to happen looks like over Lake Constance (Near Friedrichshafen)If you are flying North East I can see a track where, (according to our database) you would enter Munich Control, then briefly enter Frankfurt control, then back into Munich control. RC noticed you in a new controllers area and sent the call. All the best,John
December 19, 200520 yr Author John,You are obsolutely right. I was on this route (...UL12 KPT UL608 RIDSU...) not too long before my decend instructions were given. ThnxGus

December 20, 200520 yr I also noticed that the controller seems awfully quick to complain if an altitude change isn't acted upon immediately. I had it happen on a flight from JFK to DEN last night, and I could swear it was considerably less than 30 seconds... closer to 10 I believe.Just a suggestion: in a future update, would it be possible to have the controller say, "Expedite climb" (or descent) in a case where the pilot is too slow to BEGIN a flight level change, rather than "Watch your altitude, your assigned altitude is...", which seems more appropriate for an altitude bust upon ARRIVING at the assigned altitude. (Or busting above or below assigned altitude once established in cruise).Jim Barrett Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. December 20, 200520 yr Hi,You will also get busted imediately if you decend at all (even a little) after been given a climb instruction. If you are straight & level when the instruction is given it is very esy to drop down a few feet even when on autopilot.Best WishesAshley Sear(G4MGD-Licensed since 1981)http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannerbeta.jpg
December 20, 200520 yr I'll "list" it Jim, but I think it's already there :-) . Matter of priorities.
