Inaccurate destination weather

Featured Replies

I just flew KPDX - KSFO via PYE landing on 19L. First I must comment that the directed apporach from PYE to ILS 19L was amazingly close to the track which I have seen many airliners fly! Bravo for this program in terms of its accuracy. One problem however. Using ASV 6 this was the metar:KSFO 310256Z 19019G26KT 6SM BR SCT020 BKN025 OVC042 16/14 A2979 RMK AO2 PK WND 19029/0233 RAE14B31E46 CIG 013 RWY L10 SLP089 P0002 60005 But the weather report was "sky clear"!!Whaat went wrong here?Greg

when did you get the weather report? how far from ksfo?doesn't look clear to me. but i rely on what fsuipc sees in fs9, to read the weather.i've been flying a lot lately, in some pretty strange places, with asv6, and the weather has been spot on.you can tell i hang out with a lot of brits ;-)jd

Hi Greg,Possibly the weather was being updated in the sim at the time.Did you try asking again a bit later?fsuipc reads the weather within FS for the location (in this case the lat/long of KSFO) and tells us what is actually there in the sim. This is not necessarily the same as the metar (due to the relatively complex way the fs9 weather engine works compared to earlier releases). A program called weatherset2 which comes with fsuipc allows you to see what is actually there at a specific location in the FS world at that instant. All the best,John
