January 6, 200620 yr I'm no r/w pilot but I think the reason VNAV is prefered over V/S is also because VNAV provides speed protection for high and low buffet, whereas V/S doesn't.Subs

V/S is the one that they shy away from in the Real Aircraft, not V-Nav......;(
