"Heavy"

Featured Replies

flying the pmgd 747 i notice radr contact and pilots says "heavy" all the time. maybe thats right for america but in europ we only need heavy for the first call to each atc. any chance to put this right? its driving me nuts hearing so much heavy.mush

i'll consult with our controller over there, and if he agrees, i'll put it on the 4.1 list. probably won't make the top 10, those are pretty solid enhancements.jd

hey jdwhat ur controler say about heavy. any chance of that fix in 4.1mush

We had a discussion about this a while back, and it was determined that to do it properly, there were just too many aspects to look at right now. We didn't want to do it "half done".This Heavy suffix is only a small part of a much bigger picture when it comes to ATC seperation. There are different standards depending on aircraft being Heavy, Med, or Light, and who's following who. Too many combinations, too many variables to implement right now. I thought it was simpler matter, but I quickly learnt it was not! :()Eventually in some future version it'll be there.Subs

Ok ok I understand but im not asking for great changes to biger picture. all i want is for controlers and pilots to stop say 'heavy' for ALL transmisions. not done like this in europ real world atc. only on first call.jd you got round to asking ur controler yet? what he says?Mush

he says there isn't a right way or a wrong way. it is done everytime or only on the first contact. there are no rules governing the use on first contact only, or on all contactsjd

he realy say that? wow he don't now so much about real atc then. maybe time to get new controler to advice you?Mushy

Mushy, first of all, with all due respect but that
