Text for Hearing Impaired

Featured Replies

As a new hearing impaired user of RC4, could I offer a suggestion for the text display in a future version? Can the text display at the same time the controller speaks? It now displays after the controller finishes speaking which doubles the delay to respond. It also would be nice to have text for the pilot's replies since I can't hear them as well. Otherwise I have to use my imagination. When I flew into Denver and left freq to get the Wx report it did not display in text. Was it suppose to display text?If I am doing something incorrectly in regards to the above, please advise. Thanks.Ken

JD, would it be possible to abbreviate some of the words in the controller comms and pilot comms so they would fit into the 128 character chunk or text buffer? Most of the time the second text buffer or line has just the last character of the frequency or last word of the altitude. It would be nice to fit the whole comm into one text chunk. Can you accomplish that by abbreviating similar to what we do on VatSim? CTR, TWR, GRD, d/m, clrd, t/o . . .Thanks again for you consideration.Ken

you can actually accomplish that today. all those .txt files in the scriptcontrollersripts directory, are what are used to populate the display text output.jd

Thank you for telling me that. I'll see what I can do with it. I'm liking RC more and more everyday.I see there are pilotscripts also. What do the pilot scripts do? Are they just for the airports and call signs?Ken

both the controllerscripts and pilotscripts directories were originally intended to be the foundation for the recording program. as the "display text" option became a reality, i decided to leverage the scripts for the "display text" option.for your purposes, only the controllerscripts directory is used.i didn't abbreviate the text in the .txt files, so that recording would be more "user friendly"jd

Hello everybody.I have a question talking about the "display text" option. Is it possible to diplay the text in advdisp instead of the green line on the main screen of FS ?The reason i'm asking this is that my english isn't very good and sometimes i don't understand some sentences. In that case, to understand, it's easier for me to read but i think the green line is not very convenient. So, as i asked before, if it's possible to display the text in advdisp, can you explain me how to do that ?Thanks a lot and sorry if i made mistakes in my message.Vincent
