4.01 Key?

Featured Replies

Just downloaded and installed ver. 4.01 but wasn't asked to obtain a new key as was specified in the installation instructions. Is there a problem here? Jim

Yeah, I guess I do have a problem. After making a flight plan, sending it to RC, starting FS, then RC, I get a message that states "Unable to write to------. Will not save .RCD files". Please, please don't tell me I have to do a new download to fix this. Using dial-up that would be like a knife in the heart.

Hi Jim,You shouldn't require a new key after installing 4.01. As for the 'unable to write to...' message. Was a folder specified and is it the one where your saved flights are stored? Are you running RC over a network? If so double check that the folder security settings allow network users to change the files. Can't think why this would be altered by the 4.01 update but that seems a possible cause of the error. All the best,John

Hi Captain Dad,Sorry to hear of your problems :-(Could you let us have a few more details to help figure out what may be the cause. When does the error occur, what does the error say, does it always occur? All the best,John

that error message occurs, when i verified that i could find the directory where the flight simulator files are stored. either there is no registry entry for the fs path, or the directory i'm trying to write to is read only (and that could be a permissions on the local machine, or a network share not being read/write on the widefs machine)i'm afraid the fix will be on your machine, and not be a download. check registry, local permissions and/or network share permissions.

John,I've already uninstalled Version 4.10.I then used the "Update" button on RCv4 before bedtime and checked it again this morning Sunday 2/12/06.Still no change. I got an "unable to connect" message. In the meantime, I'm back to good ol' RCv4.Captain Dad:-hang
