February 20, 200620 yr Moderator Hi guys - This is not a big deal to me as it has only happened once but just FYI - Setting is for Otto to handle commswas on a flight to SLC from LAX in the stock FS9 747. ABout 40 miles from SLC, I opted to get the weather at the exact same time as I was told to "Contact Approach". Was cleared to leave freq - ATIS just identified itself but gave no information and returned to the freq. Only options showing were to contact tower, select rwy, etc - no approach contact. Few seconds later I was chided by RC4 about not contacting approach - only options available were to contact ground! A few seconds later, options changed to Cancel IFR or Terminate radar service. Ultimately terminated RC4 and landed manually.I'm assuming that the particular timing of my asking for weather and changing to clearance affected the timing of the messages. Until this occurrence, I've had no issues with RC4 other than my sometimes rusty flying skills. :)Thanx,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 20, 200620 yr Moderator Hi Vic,It sounds as though you were just plain unlucky with your timing. I usually request to leave for Wx around FL140 or 10 miles before the crossing restriction. This gives me plenty of time to receive it and to switch back ready for Arrival. If you use FSNavigator to plan your flight consider adding a waypoint 40 miles from the airport to help with the approach.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). February 20, 200620 yr Author Moderator Hi Ray - Pretty much what I figured. :)I do use FSNAV and the additional waypoint is an excellent suggestion!Thanx,VicEdit: Forgot to add - I REALLY like this program! Makes me feel like I'm flying IRL again. Well done to all the team.Visit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 20, 200620 yr Moderator Thanks Vic, we all love it too and I couldn't imagine flying without it. I did once toy with the idea of on-line flying but the limited number of controlled airports make it too restrictive. And, I couldn't do without Ultimate Traffic.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). February 20, 200620 yr Commercial Member you mean you don't get ai with vatsim? wow. what a downside. can you see the other vatsim flyers?jd JD Read my blog
February 20, 200620 yr Moderator Hi JD,You're requested to switch off Ai aircraft so they don't interfere with 'real' aircraft. You do see other 'real' aircraft when using AiBridge I believe. It's been a long time since I tried it of course.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
