Dual ATIS Announcments

Recommended Posts

Why is it that we have to listen to two simutaneous ATIS announcments? One seems to be in the background while the other is the RC guys voices, which is the one that counts. It's a little disconcerting having to listen to both at the same time. Doesn't seem as if we need both.Jim

Hi Jim,You should disable the default ATC sounds in FS. Don't siwtch the option off - just set the volume to zero.Cheers,

Ray I notice you say to turn default ATC down but NOT OFF.If it is turned off what would be the consequences?I ask because when I read your comment it occurred to me that I think I turned my ATC off when I set up RC.

How do you turn ATC off? When ever I uncheck the ATC volume and Lesson volume, the next time I reboot, they're checked again! I realize the volume is set to zero but why have a check box??

Hi Mark,<Some time ago I used to get an occasional crash in FS9 and the module causing the problem was ATC.DLL. It used to happen when switching from TWR to GND frequency - not always, just occasionally. Maybe FS was trying to output speech but couldn't because the option to was disabled? Now it could be just a coincidence but I can't remember the last time I had a crash caused by ATC.DLL and that's why I keep that option enabled but with zero volume.I'm not saying it works for everyone but it seems to for me.Cheers,

You're adjusting the wrong one. Options / Settings / Sound and reduce the volume against Air Traffic Control.Cheers,
