May 12, 200719 yr I followed the instructions in the RC4 manual about how to override the FS2004 standard ATC.However, after installing and running RC4, I do not get anything that look like what is shown in the manual.I get both a standard ATC window with the RC4 ATC text and the Adventure Display, which only partially shows what ATC is saying; often it is truncated so that the last part of the message is not shown. Can you please outline for me what to do in order to get an RC4 ATC window which works as it should?Attached is a screenshot showing how it looks. Thanks in advance./Nicolas

May 12, 200719 yr That removes the Adventure Display. So it does not get any nearer to what is shown and described in the manual.Instead, for RC4 I get the standard ATC window, and for text representation of what is being said, I get the green window with red text at the top of the screen.I cannot remove the green window. It keeps popping up, repeating the text over and over again. Every time I close it, the window pops up again. At the same time, the text is being cut and written out in stange ways.I do know that real world pilots do not get text representations of what ATC says, but it would be nice to have.Attached is a screenshot of this new situation./Nicolas
May 12, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Nicolas,Advdisp.dll is no longer used as JD advises. The green display can be closed by right-clicking on it and choosing close window. Don't bother resizing it. Some 3rd party software occasionally writes to that window (FS Flight Keeper for one) but after the text has finished being displayed it should close automatically. The transparent window containing the RC4 info is what you should now be using. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can assign a button to toggle it on/off if you don't want it visible all the time. I think the command is AdvDisp Toggle.See how you get on and come back if any problems persist.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 200719 yr The green window in your screen shots with RC's ATC text is the Display Text option in RC, not FS. Also in FSUIPC general options make sure multiline is enabled.I've seen the text clipped, but not written out with stange characters except during an initial installation but it corrected itself on the next session. If two or more applications are trying to write to it such as Active Sky's weather watch option it might cause a conflict.
May 13, 200719 yr Thanks for the advice, I am now able to close the Radar Contact window. So far so good. However, sometimes I am not able to get rid of the green window with ATIS or ATC text, because it keeps repeating the last transmission over and over again. If I close it, the window pops up again when the text is repeated:BOEING 7 3 7ROGERBOEING 7 3 7ROGERBOEING 7 3 7ROGER. . .BOEING 7 3 7ROGER. . .How can I stop this text from repeating itself forever and be allowed to close the window until I need it again? It is very annoying, so any ideas on this would also be much appreciated./Nicolas
May 13, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Nicolas,Uncheck the Display Text option in RC General Options. Also, make sure FSUIPC multiline display window is checked in FSUIPC and that Hide all single line messages is unchecked. That should solve the problem.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 200719 yr I highly appreciate your efforts on helping me out. However, I do want to see the text. I just want to be able to close the window with the text, without it popping up again because the text is being repeated infinitely. So, I want to close it when I no longer need it, and not having it pop up again until a new message is being delivered.English is not my mother tongue, but I think I am fairly good at it anyway! While I am a newbie when it comes to ATC instructions, it would be a great help to also see a text representation of what is being said./Nicolas
May 13, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Nicolas,I hadn't appreciated you wanted the text window to show the instruction. I've managed to reproduce what you're getting but unfortunately there isn't a way of controlling that green window. It's part of FS and it has a mind of its own.:-( The same question was asked in this thread a couple of months ago and as you will see there isn't a solution. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=23881&page=11Your written English is excellent so I would have thought with a bit of practice you could understand what was being said. I'm sorry there isn't a solution and I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of Radar Contact.Good luck! Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 200719 yr Thanks for your efforts.I will try to deal without the text, and I realize that it is caused by one of the many FS issues. It seems that the RC4 manual is giving wrong information regarding this topic. The manual tells you how to use AdvDisplay, but I learn that it actually doesn't apply to the present version of RC. But after all it is a part of the RC4 installation. So at least for me this has been quite confusing./Nicolas
May 13, 200719 yr Moderator Hi Nicolas,Point taken about the manual. We are aware that that particular section needs rewriting.Cheers. Ray (Cheshire, England).
