May 28, 200719 yr Hi JD, I'm planning to buy RC 4 this week. Should I wait for RC 5 or will it be a while before you release it?Ed
May 29, 200719 yr JD, In V 5 will controllers also be providing speed instructions along with heading and altitude on approaches?
May 29, 200719 yr Commercial Member since i don't know what they should be, no they won't. follow the speed restrictions on your platejd JD Read my blog
May 30, 200719 yr If I understand correctly speed instructions are usually given for traffic control, and there was something about that for AI aircraft so why not for us?Ed
May 6, 200818 yr Hi,as I am new to Radar Contact and still collecting informations yet - may I ask for a mission statement concerning version 5?The last updates given are months ago. So when are you planning to release RC5 (in terms of years, months, weeks, days...).Thank you for your answer(s).Christian Cheers, Christian
May 6, 200818 yr Commercial Member a mission statement?the closest thing i have to that is Doug's favorite quote: "quality not calendar"i can't quote a date. i said the end of 2008 in the past. that may slip. it takes a while to code and test some of the things i'm doing.until v5 is released, v4.3 is a quality, viable, working program for fsx, and fs9.jd JD Read my blog
May 6, 200818 yr OMG: leverage more resources and charge more $ for it. I am willing to pay $100 for starters for a stable viable RC5 THIS year.
May 7, 200818 yr >i can't quote a date. i said the end of 2008 in the past. that>may slip. it takes a while to code and test some of the things>i'm doing.>>until v5 is released, v4.3 is a quality, viable, working>program for fsx, and fs9.>>jdThanks a lot for that. Too bad it's not coming this year but all I hear about v4.3 is indeed only good news. I put hopes in v5 to include ATC for taxiing but I think I'll be quite good with 4.3Take your time for development and count me in as a 4.3 customer.CheersChristian Cheers, Christian
May 7, 200818 yr Commercial Member it looks like a cracked the taxiing nut. but with every breakthrough comes new challenges. seems not all scenery developers enumerate all the taxiways. sometimes there is no path (logically) from gate to runway, though there is pavement between gate and runway. in cases like that, you're going to get the same old "taxi to runway xx, and hold short"jd JD Read my blog
May 7, 200818 yr >what would a more stable, viable v5 look like?>>jdI have a purchased copy of 4.3. It's #### near perfect and a fine piece of work. I say nearly perfect since the display lags behind the audio, example it will give me a vector but the menu option to acknowledge does not appear right away, sometimes not for 30 + seconds. What I meant was, if you could deliver a polished RC5 this year I'd pay more than you are liable to charge for it next year. ;-)
May 7, 200818 yr Commercial Member that's unusual. do you have "display text" checked on the options screen? if so, uncheck it. that is there for people with hearing issues, or when english is not their native language.jd JD Read my blog
May 7, 200818 yr >that's unusual. do you have "display text" checked on the>options screen? That was the cause...thanx JD.
