June 10, 200718 yr I can't find a post about this, just reinstalled RC 4 for FS9 and when I tried to Rebuild Scenery DB after I clicked No to FSWide the response was "Markerways.exe is not in your FS path, which it should be". I don't remember having this problem before on previous installs. Thanks,Larry
June 10, 200718 yr Moderator Hi Larry,MakeRunways.exe should be in the root folder of your FS installation. It seems it isn't. Try searching the whole drive for this file. If you find it then move it to the FS root folder and run Rebuild Scenery agin.If you can't find it I suggest a deinstall and reinstall paying particular attention when you are asked to type the path to FS.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). June 10, 200718 yr Author Thanks jd and Ray, unfortunately, I'm still getting the same response when I run the scenery DB. After I read the Pete Dawson's notes, I ran the executable file and got all the files that he mentioned, but at the end he says to move them into their respective program's folders. I'm just trying anything. but don't know what folders he's referring to. Sorry I ever uninstalled the program, but that's another story. BTW the program seems to work as before, when I start a save flight, but have not yet tried one from scratch nor tried installing into FSXThanks,Larry
June 10, 200718 yr Moderator Hi Larry,My RC PC is off at present but from memory the files produced by running makeRunways need to sit in the RCData folder. If they're in the FS root folder then just move them over and see what happens. Please confirm you're running RC v4.3 with FS9. Once that is working we can move onto RC4 for FSX.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). June 11, 200718 yr Author I am going to have to leave this for a day or so, but wanted to reply. I assume the root is C:Prog...MS gamesFS9, that is where MakeRwys is, looks like a small "windows" icon. Tried the Rebuild and got the same response, .exe not there. I am currently running the CD v4.2.3831, assumed that 4.3 was only necessary for FSX, which I had installed with no problem before I uninstalled it all. Anyway, will check back later tomorrow when I have time to start over. Thanks,Larry
June 11, 200718 yr Moderator Hi Larry,The file in question should say Application against it if you view it in Details mode in Explorer. Make sure you have "hide file extension for known file types" disabled in Explorer / Options. If it say's Shortcut then right-click the icon and see where it's pointing to in the Target path.In future consider installing FS to C:FS9 or another drive if available. The default path is horrible for some 3rd party software that uses the path to scenery etc. Also consider not having any spaces in the folder name. It just helps with path names as Windows is not that friendly with spaces.I doubt any of this is responsible for your RC problems but it will help with other programs.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). June 12, 200718 yr Author Once again I uninstalled RC and removed makerwys.exe and all the files that were installed when I ran the program in the FS9 folder (runways.csv, g5.csv, etc.). Reinstalled and there was no Makerwys.exe in FS9 so I moved the one downloaded from the link JD gave me, tried to run the rebuild scenery DB and got the same response. I think there is something going on, maybe unrelated to RC that is causing the problem, so I don't expect to solve this any time soon. Thanks for your help guys.Regards,Larry
June 13, 200718 yr Commercial Member is this vista?are you running as admin?when you installed, re-installed, did it ask where the fs directory was? did you put in the right path?is there a makerwys.exe in the root of c: ?jd JD Read my blog
June 13, 200718 yr Author running xpI am the default user and administratorIt installs to c:program filesrcv4, when I start the program it does not ask where FS is, if that is what you are asking. I always have FS running before I start RCmakerwys.exe is in C: along with Runways.txtLarry
June 13, 200718 yr Commercial Member download makerwys.exe 4.10 from the link pinned at the top of the forum, and unzip it into the fs directorythen run rc, and rebuild the scenery databasewhat happens?what version of rc are you running? JD Read my blog
June 13, 200718 yr Author JD, I did re-download the file and unziped to the folder Flight Simulator 9 which contains all the folders ie aircraft, gauges, etc and other config and .exe files. Still get the same response that it is not in FS path. The version is a CD 4.2.3831.Larry
June 14, 200718 yr Author JD, I've actually made some progress by upgrading to v4.3, still some glitches which I will try to work out and then get back. Thanks for sticking with my problem.Larry
June 15, 200718 yr Author This should be hopefully my last post re the scenery DB. I did upgrade RC for both FS9 and FSX to the v4.3, the rebuild worked as expected for FS9, but at first I got the "run time error" thing for FSX, found that Makerwys.exe was not installed in the FSX folder, took care of that, and the rebuild worked fine. Thanks again JD and Ray for your help, these forums I believe are essential, not because you make a crappy product, but because computers are so ######y. I wish my 777 had this kind of support.Regards,Larry
