July 1, 200718 yr Author JD,Thanks for the reply.I love RC and use it whenever possible.Guess I can't use it if it's an old plane. When did squawck codes come into being?RC ask's for squawck code and when I can't give it RC doesn't like me anymore.Just curious. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
July 1, 200718 yr I may be completly wrong here, but it may mirror the real world practice. In certain types of controlled airspace, the requirement maybe for a transponder to be fitted (along with the requirement and specification of other manditory equipment, like radios). So just like in the realworld, you may have to have a working transponder, in order to fly through the conrolled airspace, which is what is reflected by RC.Or one of the realworld controllers/pilots would give you the corrected answer :()Subs
July 1, 200718 yr Author The ironic thing is that by using FS ATC with automatic freq. settings FS sets the squawk code even though there does not seem to be a transponder. So,maybe if we could turn the comms over to the copilot in RC before being told to set the squawk code maybe RC would do the same?Notsaying that this would be proper procedure, but a thought.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
July 7, 200718 yr Author I solved it! I thought previously I could not turn the radios over to Otto till I was ready for take off.Wrong,I immediatley turned them over and all was well with the DC3.Had a great flight and transponder code worked.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
