Another question about holding

Featured Replies

Hi there chapsJust bought RC4 recently, and was just wondering about another thing (thanks for your answers in the previous post also, by the way):Is there any way of choosing to enter a hold? I know approaching Heathrow they have specific hold locations like LAM VOR etc. I don't imagine RC4 knows this or would put you into a hold there, so is there any way of choosing to be held? Thanks very much for any answers.Kind regards,Rudy Fidao

you can turn holding "on", or based on weather, or "off"butthe last checkpoint has to be a vor within 5 miles of the arrival airportjd

Is there any way of increasing the distance from the airport of the hold? 5nm seems a bit too close. At heathrow for example the four main holds (OCK, BIG, LAM and BVN) are all a good 10-20nm from the airport. Most holds at major airports are kept well away from the actual airport. At London City where I work we hold inbound aircraft over Southend when the weather is bad, and that is 22nm.

in v5 we'll do better. the reasoning behind 5 miles is sound, from a rc perspective. i realize it doesn't work everywherejd
