March 16, 200818 yr I have been using RC for about a year now with very few problems, however in the last 2 days i have come across a problem. The problem is this, when i load fs9 & a flight plan & weather everything works ok until i load RC,after loading the flight plan in rc and start rc and then return to fs9 my mouse cursor flickers a lot as if it is loading something,fs9 seems to freeze and the only way out of this is to shut fs9 down. This is really frustrating as i really enjoy using RC in fs9 and i dont want to go back to the default atc. This problem only occurs in fs9 when i start RC . Can anyone help me with this thanks
March 16, 200818 yr Commercial Member what has changed since it worked, and now? any new software? any new video drivers? any new sceneries, and new planes?jd JD Read my blog
March 17, 200818 yr I have not changed anything on my pc since i last used FS9 coupled with RC and unfortunately i can not send you a log because i can not get both programs to work together, everything freezes in the FS9 window when i start RC. I have defraged and virus scanned my system several times and this problem still exists. How about if i do a fresh install of RC do you think that might work . thanks gary...
March 22, 200818 yr Has anyone got any idea as to what may be causing this fs9 and rc4 conflict , i have not been able to use the sim with radar contact for close to 2 weeks now and i really dont want to use default atc again. HELP PLEASE
March 22, 200818 yr Moderator Hi Gary,Very difficult to know what the problem could be especially when you say nothing has been added to FS9.If you think something may be interfering with FS9 and RC load FS9 and start RC. Then bring up Task Manager and show the processes tab. Take a screenshot ensuring all entries are visible. There may be something there which is taking resources away from FS and RC. Are you aying that without RC4 running FS performs normally without lockups?Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). March 22, 200818 yr Hi Ray,Thanks for your reply, this problem seems to be happening when an addon program that is opened up outside of fs9 but works within fs9, i have found out that this is also happening with the track ir program so it is not just an rc4 problem .Something is at fault within fs9 when it will not except programs like these to run along side.I have brought up task manager and all the usual programs are running in the background, but i cant choose to shut down programs via the taskbar because it also freezes and locks up in the fs window.
March 23, 200818 yr Moderator Hi Gary,If you're happy that nothing else is running that shouldn't be then fine. Are you running FS in windowed mode or full-screen mode? Windowed is preferable on a single PC until everything is running and then if you don't need to access RC you can switch to full-screen mode.If you do need to switch to another program it's better to switch back to windowed mode first. March 23, 200818 yr Hi Ray,I would firstly run FS in windowed mode and then minimise then start RC, it is when i bring FS back up to window mode then attempt to full screen it that this problem occurs. The cursor flickers so much and FS locks up that i have to close FS down. I have also disabled RC and it makes no difference.I think this is going to be a tricky one to cure although there may be a simple explanation. Thanks again
March 23, 200818 yr Moderator Hi Gary,It could be a graphics driver problem. Have you changed them recently? Think back to what could have changed since everything worked okay.If you're sure you haven't changed anything then try reinstalling the drivers. They could have become corrupted. Some details of your system would be helpful - CPU, RAM, graphics card etc.Bedtime now. More tomorrow but hopefully you'll sort it. :-) Ray (Cheshire, England). March 23, 200818 yr What happens when you switch among programs using alt-tab? Leave FS full screen and get to your other apps this way. Not a cure, just a test.
March 28, 200818 yr I have managed to get this sorted , not sure how i did it but managed to sort it.Now that that problem is out of the way i have a new problem which i need some advice on, the problem is as follows. When i am taxiing for takeoff and i am following an aircraft that has entered the active runway to position and line up for departure, the tower controller instructs me to line up at the active runway even though the other aircraft is still on the active runway , when i get this instruction the proceeding aircraft then stops and freezes at whatever position it is in.I have also been cleared to line up when an approaching aircraft is on very short finals this has never happend previously and i am wondering if it is something to do with FSUIPC. THANKS
March 28, 200818 yr Commercial Member makerwys 4.27 was released today. link pinned at the top of the forum. make sure you have it in the fs root directoryalso, you have to run the rc scenery database rebuild everytime you add new scenery, and at least once after you install rc for the first timejd JD Read my blog
March 28, 200818 yr Again, also you make sure you have the current FSUIPC for your version of FS. (There was a much earlier version of FSUIPC that did not correctly report the position of AI and a new version was released shortly after it was discovered. In the RC settings Interact with AI should be checked. If your conflicts are happening at specific airports you might check to see if any AFCADs you have are for and match those airports. RC gets the coordinate location of your aircraft from FSUIPC and matches that to the airport object coordinates derived from makerwys (and processed further) and the scenery rebuild db utility which uses it. This is how it knows your position on the airport. Therefore as jd stated get the latest makerwys and then run the scenery rebuild db utility from the RC program.Another thing you should check is that there is only one AFCAD besides default for your problem sceneries. If you run AFCAD and open up the airports in question, you'll see the default layer and one or two on top of that. If one of them does not show taxiways, etc., then that does not count toward the rule of only one layer besides the stock. If you change AFCADs or scenery, run FS to let it reindex its scenery database. When that is done, close FS and then run RC and run its scenery db rebuild utility. If you still have problems and you wish to check out a specific scenery for coordinate validity start FS and load your flight at a parking area. Start AFCAD (here in the libs if you do not have it) and open up the same airport. Click the lock icon. Put both in AFCAD and FS in windowed mode so you can see them both. In FS go to the overhead view and taxi around including the runway entries. The red cross on the AFCAD display should move along with your aircraft. The AFCAD view will orient to your aircraft's heading. This lets you see if FSUIPC is reporting your position correctly. Your position on both displays should match. This also checks the AFCAD/scenery matching.Hope this helps.
March 29, 200818 yr Hi , I got this problem sorted via installing makerwys 4.27, thanks for your replys and help.
