Would it be possible for the next version to pause when FS pauses?Sometimes if I have to change fuel after RC has started I will get an error with RC possibly due to FS changing to the fuel screen. Should this happen, and or can it be avoided?

That was it... wouldn't have thoght it would work at all with out that config..I'm now trying to learn to fly the Feelthere ERJ145 with RCv4 .First time using FMC and I am finding it difficult to interface it with RC...My flight plan is simple leave KRIC fly to BRV the KIAD. RC and the FMC are at odds with TOD in FMC.. sometimes I just wish I could Dumb Down the ERJ :-)

follow the atc clearances, and you'll be fine. you can also ask for the initial descent clearance to be "at pilot's discretion". then you can wait until the FMC says it's time to start down.but you still have to meet your crossing restrictionjd

Page 49 in the manual gives a lengthy discussion on pilot discretion descents (which can be requested in the RC menu I think) and crossing restrictions. As far as altitude control with an FMC I'm only familiar with the Boeing 737 FMC as used by PMDG. If you wish to continue to use VNAV to some degree there is a DESC page which has a descend now command. You can always leave VNAV and use the equivalent of FLCHG which means the aircraft will descend to the altitude in the window of your control panel. You should also have a vertical speed control of some kind to adjust your descent rate along with speed to meet a crossing restriction. If RC wants to start you down prior to TOD then request a PDC on the menu if you wish to follow your FMC vertical profile under VNAV for part of the way. Eventually you will receive a crossing restriction of 11,000 (or FL110), or 12,000 (FL120) (flight levels used if above transition altitude) about forty miles from destination. If your FMC allows it you can create a fix or use an existing one 40 miles out with a hard crossing altitude of 12,000 (FL120) to establish the early descent path for VNAV. Another technique is to (if your FMC has it) trend arcs in conjunction with a range ring marker of 40 nm around your airport. You can adjust V/S when necessary so the descent arcs do not go past the range rings.Again I'm not familiar with the FMC used in the ERJ model you have.

jd,just while there's a V5 subject : Will there be anything regarding transoceanic clearance / NAT Tracks in V5 ?And generally : Around half a year ago you mentioned, V5 is at least a year away. How's that now ? Half a year away :-))) ?Mike

i doubt there is any natthat's why i don't like giving fuzzy release dates. i'm working on something now, that is taking up a lot of my cycles. hopefully, i'll get back on vfr, and then to some serious testingjd

jd,>> i doubt there is any natHmmm, that's a pity. Also a "semi-automatic" solution would be not possible ? E.g. the user would enter the track letter beforehand and e.g could initiate the "clearance talk" at some point ?>> that's why i don't like giving fuzzy release dates. I fully understand that. OTOH, it's a long time from V4 to V5, I hope you are not much nerved by users asking for the state occasionally :)Mike
