  1. Just standard FSx -- but, as I said, flying slowly in a helo and keeping an eye on the TP panel whenever I start to suspect that I may be getting ahead of the download, I pause the sim and let it catch up. Choppers are really good for TP - because you can land just about anywhere - and in the slow process of landing, the Sim gets a chance to load up the textures.I have also found that you are better in TP to go to a particular place that you wnat to see and fly around in circles - rather than just fly in one straight line somewhere. In other words, fly like you are sightseing some particular area.

  2. I am stuck on Tileproxy. In spite of it's difficulties (mainly because of my system and ISP connection speed) and the fact that I have to fly slowly (limiting me to the helos) and more often than not I have to pause the Sim quite often for it to catch up with the textures downloading -- I can't fly without it. The default textures are just cartoonish!TP takes me to the place! Anywhere in the world - places that I will probably never go to - or places that I have been to but will never go again.Austria - what a magnificant beautiful country. I was there briefly just before Christmas in 1979. Now I can see what it would have looked like in SummerThank you Christianhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191719.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191720.jpg

  3. Hi AlanI believe that your TP installation is not working because your INI is all wrongHere is the FS9 version of what you should see for Service 1[service Example 1]cache_folder=C:Program FilesMicrosoft Gamescache.service1network_module=libnettilemodule_config="conn=20|rate=2.0|verbose=0|server=http://a*.ortho.tiles.virtualearth.net|path=/tiles/a%s.jpeg?g=%v|quad=0123|balance=0123|useragent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"min_level=9max_level=15map_version=174#level_mapping=9,10,11,12,13,14,15color_hack=Yescolor_level=13bulk_extend=50If you compare this with the code you posted, you will see 3 things wrong 1. Server address. You have server=http://a*.virtual earth - it should read http://a*.ortho.tiles.virtualearth.net (before the PATH section)2. Map version . You have map_version=55 - it should be 1743. Max level. You have max_level=17 - it should be 15. And check to see that elsewhere in the INI file, you have max_lod=13 . This is because this LOD level is the highest you can get in FS9.TP works well in FS9 - not as high resolution textures as in FSx - but still worthwhile.Did you download Ed Truthans INI files and ensure that you used the one for FS9?Barry

  4. My understanding is this - when you go into "Manage Service Caches" and delete some areas (or all) of a particular Service, it deletes the JPG files that the Service has previously downloaded. When you "Clean up world folder" it deletes the scenery files that have been generated by TP from the downloaded JPG files. I am not sure what happens if/when you fly in the same area ( say Hawaii) using 2 different Services at different times.Barry

  5. Hi KarstenI also fly helos in TP - the best a/c for TP in my opinion. All you need to do when you have do shut down the flight (Darling -- dinner is ready!!) is land somewhere (not absolutley necessary but better in helos than in fixed wing) - and after landing go to the SAVE flight menu and tick the box that says "make this the default flight?" Next time you start TP and FSx, they will know just exactly where you have landed - load up all the textures ( which TP already has stored) and then you are away againBarry

  6. Hi DonNow this is new territory for me too. I currently have 2 cache folders for Service 2 and 3. Basically, if I fly around an area for a while and then think it is time to move to some other part of the world - I clean out the cache folders using the "Manage cache services" part of the TP programme and also the "Cleanup world folder" part of the TP programme. So, for example, having had a good look around the Capetown South Africa area - I can delete everything relating to that area and move on to somewhere else. Right now, I have been flying around the island of Oahu in Service 3 and the Innsbruck area in Austria in Service 3 . My cache folders for both services are now around 500 megabytes each. I have a feeling that I "could" remove those cache folders and burn them to CD - but I don't really think I need to. I guess if you wanted to continually fly in a favourite area , you could do this and re-insert the saved cache folders at a later time so that you could fly there offline. But personally, I don' thnk this is of much value - because, for me , the world is such a big place that I find that I like to see all kinds of places in TP.But for you - I suggest you transfer those cache folders to somewhere else and when you fly somewhere different it will build up a new cache folder. You could then replace them with the saved ones at a later date. The problem I see with this idea is that it may be difficult to keep track of the different caches that you will build up.Although there IS an offline facility available within TP, I don't think that it is really meant to be used that way.BY the way - there are always 999 folders inside a cache folder, are you sure that EVERY one of them have files in them. That would indicate to me that you have flown everywhere in the world! :-) Barry

  7. Hi Ed Truthan has done a magnificent job with his website where he gives good info on how to get TP running - including an INI file for the major map providers. Unfortunately, we haven't seen Ed for a little while - so people are now downloading his INI file which is a bit out of date. The map version numbers need to be updated on his INI file - as well as the web address for GoogleBarry

  8. Hi SkybazI think that perhaps you are being a bit too ambitious - because you are attempting to download 30cm textures, rather than the standard FSx 1.1 metre textures. This is quite an ask - depending on the speed of your Internet connection and computer. Your INI file has been changed to do this. Also you are using early versions of the maps and attempting to keep more files on disk than standard. Also the web address for Google has changedTry thisIn the main TILEPROXY bodyChange the figures below to those within the brackets -max_lod=17 (15)preload_max_lod=17 (15)cache_bytes_limit=300000000 (100000000)cache_tiles_limit=300000 (100000)ie 17 to 1517 to 15300000000 to 100000000300000 to 100000Then in the Service provider section change also to the figures in brackets belowService 1map_version=138 (174)Service 2kh*.google.com (http://khm*.google.com)map_version=26 (30) ie 138 to 174kh* to khm*26 to 30I have my conn =10 and rate=1 - because I only have a 1 megabyte ADSL connection. If you have faster broadband than that , you can set to 20 and 2Barry

  9. >>(TileProxy) NOTE these should be square brackets - but we>>can't post square brackets here in this forum for some>reason>>Well, yes, you can: [TileProxy]. See? ;) All you have to do is>check the box where it says 'Check here if you want to format>your message in plain text. Use for posting code snipets', at>the very top of the gray 'Your message' area, just above the>Subject box...Aaaah!!! - Got it!! Thanks for thatBarry

  10. HiSomething wrong with your INI file there - in a BIG way.It looks to me like an INI file with most of the important bits cut out. 11. The screenshot that you posted on 6 March was weird - I believe that it shows many individual TP tiles missing from the lowest LOD levels, including at the centre where your a/c is. This would indicate to me why you are getting black screen at startup. I don't know why you are missing these individual tiles - and I have never seen this sort of thing before. Usually all the low level tiles load up at startup - and it is the higher detail tiles that are slow to load when you fly along. This only however results in "not-so-clear" scenery, which will clear up if you pause the Sim for a whileYou can see what I am talking about in the screenshot belowPlease post a copy of the content of your INI file here - plus details of your system including Internet connection speed.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191349.jpg

  12. Not sure what you mean by - the FSX scenerydoesn't show at the airport, except the runway and thebuildings?? In TP, basically only the runway and airport buildings are the only things that do show apart from the downloaded G or Y textures. Autogen does not show in TPI am very happy with what I am getting Innsbruck with G*** and Oahu with Y***Barryhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191308.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191309.jpg
