  1. Mike,>-Flight Contacts the dispatcher for burn down instructions Haven't you heard? Version 3 will include your phone number.BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  2. Scoot, >No, no. Scoot says crack is a LOT cheaper! :-lol There I go getting things bass ackwards again. :)Sud
  3. Hi Heather,I'm also interested in Easy Gauge. I noticed on their forum (on their web site, not here) that David Durst is using it. David is well known in the fs community for his very nice panels and planes. I asked him for his opinion of the program and his comments were mostly positive. He mentioned some specific bugs he had encountered, but felt it was still worthwhile. Of course, the program has to meet your particular needs or it will be useless no matter how well it works. Easy Gauge does seem limited; on the other hand, my other option for creating guages from scratch are a) learn c++ programming and spend the money on a compiler, or :( nothing. I agree with Scoot (don't believe him when he claims his real name is "Scott") that the program is expensive, at least compared with other high-quality fs add-ons that I've bought. Once (if) they get set up to take credit card payments, though, I'll probably buy it. I realize I'm taking a gamble, but I'm willing to risk the $55 to satisfy my curiosity. Hey, it's cheaper than crack, at least according to Scoot. :)Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  4. Hi Dennis,>I usually get >things back to normal by changing the time of day from day >to night or vice versa; this process loads everything back >and the program somehow refreshes without having to >terminate the flight. I believe that any time you force a reload of the scenery (change time, change location, etc.), the ai traffic is reset. That's probably why this is working for you.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  5. >Probably would be done in one month, but then Scott comes >along and asks things like what happens (or doesn't happen) >when you cross the Prome Meridian a couple times. :-lol Or Sidney takes off from a high altitude airport with tower and ground but no departure frequency, and then declares an emergancy and asks to return to the departure airport. Ouch!Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  6. I've been using rc for several years and have never run into the frame rate problem you describe. I would try a few different flights (different airports, different weather) and see if the problem persists. It could have been a coincidence, or it could be related to some particular scenery or weather. Weird.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  7. >Been using it both programs for quite awhile and have never >seen anything like that before? Same here. No such problems, no complaints.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  8. >BTW you have my sympathy for trying to release 3.0 without >an SDK to help, but I think it's the right choice given the >circumstances. I'll bet that once the sdk is released, it will be only a short time before all kinds of little utility programs and fixes appear. Look at what folks like Lee Swordy (TTools) managed to do even without an sdk. Hopefully there may not be any reason for RC contain an internal fix for the "Articial Stupidity" traffic.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  9. >e.g. the aircraft container SDK did not tell is anything we >did not already know, wile not revealing anything that we >did not know. Yes...less than useless. Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  10. I encountered a similar problem a while back. The solution for me was to turn prop sync OFF. Try it and see if it works for you.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  11. Stamatis,So far they have not announced in advance which sdk's they are releasing. They've released quite a few so far, though, so we have reason to hope that they'll release an ai traffic sdk.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  12. Hi Kathy,>Game Commander 2.Yes, good suggestion. It's not something I have yet, but it's on my list, right after "learn to set up and use the FDC that I already bought." FDC also allows you to increase the number of keys commands you can assign to your joystick buttons, which will also help some. Even so, there's too many programs competing for a finite number of key commands. Besides RC and FDC, I also have Lago's FSAssist and FSScenery Enhancer. I was considering getting their new FSMaintenance, but then I'm thinking "how many programs can I stuff into FS before it blows up or I run out of available keystrokes...?" Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  13. >Hmm, strange, because I get RC2.2 alternating with FSAssist, >whether I use AdvDisp or not. I wonder why FSAssist is not >captured by ADvDisp in your case? I'm working with RC v3, but I don't know if that would affect how FSAssist communicates with ADvDisp.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  14. Scoot,>If the product is as simple as they make it sound, then that >obviously opens the door to all kinds of things. You can download the demo version and manual from their site:http://www.bluesky-net.de/I know doodly squat about programming...you'd be a much better judge of the program's capabilities that me.>Besides, AdvDisp does that now. I suppose one could make an >RC Control Panel style gauge with clickable commands. The same thought occured to me after I posted my last message. The question, though, is whether or not the user will still be able to change key assignments for the various functions.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  15. Scoot, >The problem with making a gauge with the RC >information is that the gauge would have to be included in >every single panel anyone could possible use. Not possible. It could be a free-floating window like the fs gps. Not the most elegant solution, but workable.I just downloaded the demo version of "Easy Gauge", a program that purports to allow even idiots like me to create gauges for fs2k/2k2. Maybe an rc display/control gauge is not that far-fetched.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  16. >Another concern of mine is the apparent dependence on Pete >Dowson's AdvDspl. Unless he makes something special for RC3, >this means that the current collision between RC and e.g. >FSAssist will continue to exist.I've been using fsassist while beta testing rc3, and there doesn't seem to be any conflict. The rc menu is displayed in the advdspl window, and the fsassist menu is displayed in the fs message window.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  17. P.S.--any flightplan waypoints within 40 miles of your arrival airport will be ignored. At that point you will be handed over to approach control and given vectors to the runway.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  18. Eric, >I am not sure however, when one is just selecting an >airport, how that fits in with sids and stars being in the >plan? If fsnav puts runways in your flight plan when you specify a dp or star, just delete the runways and replace them with the airports.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  19. >i don't know, what does captain speaking do? According to their ads, Captain Speaking comes with "a unique set of 37 flexible airline flights using authentic ATC ... In addition, there are three sets of 12 adventure flights that can be purchased online to expand Captain Speaking 2002 even further." The obvious difference is that there is no limit to the number of different flights in RC, since it creates adventures from the user's flight plans.
  20. >not >to mention Chicago pizza!Yes, please don't mention it. :~PThe only real pizza, of course, is New York pizza...a slice of heaven. :-bigangelSidney Schwartz (KPDX) formally (KLGA)
  21. Hi Jim, >I hope this gives you a feeling for what the combination is >like. It certainly does....thanks much! I was already leaning towards buying it....you pushed me off the fence. :-waveSidney Schwartz [KPDX]
  22. Jim,>I'm running Fs2002, RC, and now >FDC, all simultaneously, and each can have a need for >joystick buttons. How do you like FDC? I'm considering buying it.Another option for reducing the need for joystick buttons is to get something like Game Commander, so you can use voice commands instead of joystick/keyboard. That's something else I'm considering. I wonder how many of these programs we can run at one time before it all starts crashing....Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]
