Freeware Flight Ontario - Toronto FS 2004 needs your he...
jkanold replied to jkanold's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Paul,We've been well aware of the AFCAD stuff for some time thanks. As far as the scenery goes, we have a aerial photo scenery of the GTA laid over a STRM elevation mesh complete with autogen. The airport layouts are done and we are re-doing the entire downtown models. We even have things like the Bloor Viaduct and Ontario Place modelled. One thing you will like is the water. I say no more. It's coming along nicely.BTW, we may just have a surprize for you personally.http://members.rogers.com/jkanold/jimlogo.gif -
We are at a point where we need a helping hand. If anyone frequents CYTZ, CYYZ, or CYZD, and has a digital camera, please contact me by email.jkanold@rogers.comWe are eight months into a massive project of the Greater Toronto Authourity and need some particular airport pictures. http://members.rogers.com/jkanold/jimlogo.gif

>is it possible to do a Terrascene like process on the same USGS data to populate significant regions with accurate renditions of roads and coastlines?Yes, there is no different than Fly! II. Terrascene works just as well in FS2002 as it does in Fly! II. Check out the Terrabuilder Forum. Also check my site out below for an example.http://members.rogers.com/jkanold/jimlogo.gif -

jkanold replied to jkanold's topic in FSX | FSX-SE Scenery Design Forum - How To
While you are testing, you might want to try some 555 and 888 bmps with alphas as well. These affect quality of the final transparent texture. Also check out what happens at a distance if you give the model, (say an antenna), a large submerged polygon under it.Jim KanoldFlight Ontariohttp://members.rogers.com/jkanold/jimlogo.gif -
Transparency problem (See pic)
jkanold replied to jkanold's topic in FSX | FSX-SE Scenery Design Forum - How To
Two things. DXT3s are also tied to the aircraft texture slider. This dictates just how clear the image gets from a distance. The problem with DXT1s is that the alpha channel crops a pixel, eg. gerters in a tower have to be made wider than usual or they may disappear because of this pixel crop. You'll see what I mean.http://members.rogers.com/jkanold/jimlogo.gif
