    Have you ever in the past installed the google maps addon? If so you must change a file that it uses, if not it will cause MSFS to stall on loading or CTD for no reason. That's why I ask.

    - turn off all security
    - empty community folder
    - empty content.xml
    - turn off FSUIPC

    and it still hung at 60% load after FLY

    I then told the sim to start in SAFE MODE and it still hangs at 60% load after clicking on FLY

    I made no changes to the sim between yesterday and today and as far as I can tell the sim did not load any updates.  I have not changed any drivers or hardware.

    What do I do next?

    Win 10 / Steam both as current as possible

     

    Have you installed the Goggle Maps addon?

    With this amount of discussion pre-release it’s going to be an interesting time.

    I wonder how many will fly supersonic over land with a borderline download speed and never see the ground as it hasn’t had time to generate. 😁

    I really enjoying MSFS in the freeware and pay ware Helos where I can enjoy the low and slow that the sim really shines on. Can't see going super sonic over the sweat and time I put in over the ground scenery I've installed. I may consider for PD3 OR FSX.

    Google maps makes a entry in the system32 drivers folder, when you shut down google maps, it should remove those entries so the next time you restart FS it will load without issues. If it don't remove those entries FS is looking for Asorbo servers to load content but it cant find the servers to link to because google maps change where to look. And it just stops or CTD. Glad Roy got his sim running again. I spent almost a week troubleshooting why my sim stopped loading or would CTD at certain point.

    Esc key or mouse doesn't do anything. Have to use Task Manager to close.  Tried a Discovery flight over the pyramids.  Same thing. Wouldn't complete the loading.

    So I uninstalled sim, then reinstalled.  After four hours of installation, I tried again.  Same thing.  Plus my Community Folder is now empty and 63 files are uninstalled in the Content Manager.

    Tried to install the US World Update in the Content Manager, thinking that might help.   It locked up after a few minutes saying PENDING. 

    If anyone can help me on this I would appreciate it.  I can no longer use the sim.

    For the past week My sim started either hanging up during loading a flight or CTD when I tried to turn on live weather. It also start giving problems highlighting airports and departure spots. It start happening all of a sudden after 6 months of no issues. So I removed all add ons from Community, repaired reloaded and reinstalled FS 6 times all with the same problem. Then I start getting constant message saying my bandwidth was too low and put me in off line mode. I finally found what was causing my problem after hours of pulling my hair out and ready to put this sim back on the shelf. It was the mod that injects google maps in place of the default Bing maps. it's called "MSFS2020 Map Enhancement". Although it worked as described, after turning off, it doesn't change an entry in your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file back to it's default setting and causing FS to CTD and hang during startup or not work at all no matter how many times you uninstall and reinstall. I was luck and had a backup copy of that host file and when I put the original back in pace my sim start working again as usual.Hope this helps someone.

    For some reason, I can no longer toggle my live weather on/off again. it's stuck in the off position. If I choose live weather from the drop-down window, it still stays turns off. also, I'm no longer able to select parking spots at airports. I can select the airport but when I want to zoom in and choose any parking, the selection menu disappears when I try to highlight it. Any suggestions? I remember with FSX we were able to delete the FSX.cfg and let it rebuild on next start up. Is that possible in FS 2020?

    There isn't much to do indeed and I absolutely love the plane, it's the only GA I fly, but there are a few inop functions and it's a pity they will stay inop forever. But well, SWS never said they were aiming for A2A quality so... maybe I expected too much.

    Have anyone tried the MilviZ Turbo-Porter for MSFS2020. PC-6 for MSFS2020 (milviz.com) If you love flying the Kodiak, you'll love this one also. It's also much better than the disappointing Twin Otter from Aerosoft.

    If it was a simple extract, copy paste into the old directories - possibly.  But I fear this will overwrite all the settings and, god forbid, force a reinstall of the airline packages.

    No worries, AI Manager and traffic controller has updated several times on my system and none of my settings have changed or AI stop working. I like the fact it updates the new AI models and I don't have to. I'll admit my first install took all weekend, but it was well worth it to get real time traffic and liveries for free. But like the other posters said, it's up to you how much time you're willing to invest.

    Where are the shader folders located that get deleted when installing a newer Nvidia driver?

    That was not my experience. Even though AI Suite went through the uninstall routine, it held on to overclock profile. I reset my BIOS back to normal settings and when computer booted into windows, the overclock profile would load again. I didn't say it affected my video operation but it did affect uninstalling and installing new drivers. Asus tech support finally came to same conclusion to dump everything and do fresh windows install. Now that I never reinstalled AI suite and control everything from BIOS, Haven't experienced any issues since. I can also saved multiple  overclock profiles in BIOS settings. I can choose and load a custom overclock setting depending on what I'm running. I'm happy not using AI Suite.

    For some reason AI suite once installed would not allow me to go back to default settings. It kept my system in overclocked state. It interfered with my video driver. I wasn't able to removed it or update it. My system kept shutting down and restarting. I believe because the AI suite overclock settings was too aggressive. I tried uninstalling it from my system altogether but it still held on and would let me do anything. I called Asus support and they were not able to figure out why AI suite went rouge but my only option was to reinstall windows and take back control. No issues since then. I can control all my overclocking from BIOS including adjusting memory clock speeds

    Just had a second DXGI hang on my LAX-CYVR flight. 😞 I only seem to get them away from Europe. Australia and now USA.

    That's your problem AI suite, It pretty much hosed my FS installs. I ended up dumping everything and reinstalling win10, then my simulators again. Have not had any issue since. I use AI overclock in the BIOS to over clock my system. Also been using 471.96 since release. No issues. I see there's a new release 472.12 but I think I'll stick with what's working.

    I think most developers are going to FS2020 platform because that's where the market trends are pointing to. I don't want to mentioned the $$ I spent on FS over the years.  Microsoft is appealing to a different generation now that it's release for Xbox. But it's up to you guys where the market trends head. Personally I love PD3  who the pushed the envelope in development when MS close it's doors on flight sim. Now that that the technology has somewhat caught up with the newer hardware, It's a blast to see who will remain standing in the end. But one thing for sure is I won't be flying flight Simulator on a Xbox.

    With the specs of your system PD3v5 will work great. I can run with all sliders to the right. Had to get use t the scenery libery installation(xml programing), but once I learned that it's been a blast. I get great frames and no stutters. As far as Orbx you can map your scenery or libery files to what ever drive you want. I never tried 4.5, I updated from v3, but the 64 bit architecture and VAS improvements really makes the most difference in my opinion.
