  1. Hi everyone, I am VERY excited about Fly!2, having just received it in the mail yesterday. I have read the FAQs, performed the patch updates, read Ken Salter's "First Time Flyer" notes, etc. I then did a quick test flight. The departure airport was Willow Run (KYIP) in Michigan. Here is my quick experience:1) Flight model seems accurate for the 1722) Sounds for this plane I really liked 3) I cannot get my Flight Sim Yoke to properly pitch up (elevator up) for some crazy reason. I have calibrated the stick, unplugged and recalibrated, etc. The stick works fine in ALL other games, but just not properly in Fly. Any ideas here?4) The default scenery is a little disappointing, flying out of Willow Run Airport in Michigan. The terrain is blurry, and the colors seem to blend together. I guess I was expecting something more out of Fly!2 terrains and objects. On all my other flight sims, the terrain is tolerable (except for the crappy terrain of CFS3). 5) I have no idea how to "tweak" Fly!2 based on my graphics card, etc. I see lots of things about render.ini, memcalc program, etc. but I don't see anywhere that describes WHAT THIS DOES? Improve blurriness, change texture rendering, etc.??? Is there some type of "tweaking" guide I can browse through.I am more than willing to give Fly!2 a chance, but I just need to hunt down some information to read! Yea, the HUGE Fly2 .pdf file is great, but I want to maximize my computer's power to make this sim fly smoothly, and especially set up flights more for VFR flying. This means crisp, sharp terrain. Sorry for the long-winded message. I really hope someone can direct me to some more guides that would help me get the most out of Fly2. I would be happy to read anything, and I really want to give this sim a chance!AND, for all that I've learned, I can help contribute back to the community by perhaps writing an all-inclusive "Quick Start Guide to Fly!2".Regards to All,SteveSystem Specs:--------------------------------------------------------------------Dell 8200 P4 2.6 Ghz, 768 RDRAM 800, 80/120 GB ATA133 HDD, GeForce4 Ti4600 w/44.03 Omega Drivers, DirectX 9.0b, WinXP Home, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 with 6.1 speakers, CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB, CH Products USB Rudder Pedals
  2. Guys, thank you so very much for all your efforts and hard work in bringing my home airport, 1d2 Mettetal in Canton, Michigan to life. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate your efforts. I am still eagerly awaiting my version of Fly!2 to arrive, and have not even opened FS2004 because of all the promise Fly!2 holds with my local scenery. What a way to welcome me into the community! I would (eventually) like to become more proficient in scenery design for the Fly!2 community, and will most likely start with adding more detail and objects to the airport you've created. Again, a big sincere thank you!Steve
  3. Wow - what a heck of a welcome here, thanks much everyone! Eagle, I greatly appreciate your offer to get Mettetal (1d2) added to the database. I would be more than happy to send you the info on it; I have a .pdf file I could email you if you would kindly provide your email address. Thanks again for your incredible welcome, and your efforts to include my home airport!Regards,Steve
  4. Randall,Thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it. Your work on the Detroit area looks great! I'd love to get my home airport included here, but let me see how Fly "flies" right out of the box first. My excitement grows - I just ordered the product online today, so I'll eagerly be expecting it's arrival soon.In the meantime, what should I start downloading? Obviously the software patches, but any other "killer, must have" add-ons that you might recommend? Thanks again, looking forward to being a new Fly!2 Pilot soon!
  5. WOWWW! Thanks everyone, for your kind and very informative responses. I guess my next task is...GET THIS SIM! The Detroit Stuff looks fantastic! I acutally fly out of a little airport in Canton, MI called Mettetal. I don't know Randall, if you're terrascenery extends this far - if it does, fantastic. If not, maybe I could try to improve this area someday. Well, I'm off to hunt Fly2 down, and give this all a try. Thanks again!
  6. Hello everyone,I've heard a lot of really great things about Fly2 lately. So, it has sparked my interest in looking at Fly2 for VFR flying around the Detroit, Michigan area. Someone mentioned that there is terrascenery (?) for this region, but I don't quite know what that means. Anyway, could someone please comment on the Fly2 Sim for me. Do you think it would be good flying a Cessna 172 VFR around the Michigan area? Are there ways to customize the scenery, by adding your own buildings, static aircraft, etc.??? Thanks for answering the newbie questions, I'm really intrigued to learn more about this sim...!Kind regards,Steve
