  1. Is it a trick of perspective, or is the wing dihedral on the XPlane version radically different than the real-world picture?
  2. Are any of you using FSInn? I know there is a TAT problem with FSInn over FL220 or FL240, where FS reports incorrect data and the FSInn weather code screws up. The solution for that is to disable FSInn weather. If you're not using FSInn, then maybe ASA is subject to the same shortcoming that FSInn's weather is suffering from. On second thought, that may just be in FSX, though. Hrmmm.
  3. >I might point out that I have the FLN and FLT RealityXP>gauges and I'm considering their 430XP and/or 530XP.That's what I did...pulled out the debit card and went full hog with the FLT, FLN, 430, 530 and Garmin Professional (so I can crossfill and use other neat functions I'll never use...heh). I have them all packed in the default 208 and (other than the VC stack being an issue), I am happy with them.>What is this Navomatic and what's wrong about it?Navomatic is Cessna's autopilot. It has HDG and NAV/GPS modes, but that's pretty much it (I think). I don't see where it has the ability to hold altitude or VS, which makes it of limited value for my needs. This is not a shortcoming of Carenado, though, as I think they've faithfully recreated the real-world unit.Let me repeat, the Carenado 206 (Full Pack) is exceedingly nice. It is my favorite light GA add-on, and is only 2nd to the Cheyenne 400LS (my first payware purchase) in my hangar. I wish Carenado would do a 208 to the same level that they've done the 206.
  4. "Best" is really a subjective determination, and it depends heavily upon what your needs are. For instance, I "fly" exclusively within the FSE (www.fseconomy.com) "universe" and operate a string of FBOs in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, 3/4 of which are seaplane bases. For my purposes, maximum profitability is obtained running the circuit with the 208 amphib. There are two payware 208s available, and neither really thrilled me, so I packed the FS9 defaults full of RealityXP gauges and I'm happy. I also have the Carenado 206 model and it is fantastic...wheeled and amphib versions, great 2D and VC panels, sounds. The only thing I don't like about it is the Navomatic (but I'm spoiled by the STEC in the RealityXP package and the ESD Columbia 400). On the other hand, for low and slow sight-seeing (and carrying a single paying passenger..haha), I like the Aerosoft Super Cubs. Great little package. There are a lot of possibilities, but I think the ultimate decision you make will depend on what it is you're looking to accomplish. Good luck, regardless!
  5. I had no frame rate issues when I installed REPro. While it looked better than the standard FS9 stuff, I wasn't terribly impressed (although for the price, it was a great value). I bought GEPro and find that to be better yet, but I'm still not completely satisfied. My next addition will likely be Active Sky.YMMV.
  6. Can I ask what you find boring about the ATR? I was thinking of picking it up, even though it's not a(n easily) 'profitable' airframe in FSEconomy. If it's nothing special, though, maybe not...
  7. Heck, I'd be happy to find a way to reduce the font size and brightness of those lines.
  8. You know, I've never even looked at the ATR72. Just looking at the Flight1 web site now, it looks impressive. I'm going to see if I can find some reviews. Thank you for the suggestion.
  9. Hrmm, last time I looked at the FSD site the Cheyenne page said FS9 only. I'm pretty sure I searched their forums and there was a "we'll get to it" post. I liked the combination of pressurized cabin and high cruise speed. IIRC, the Navajo has the same cruise speed, but no cabin pressure. Everything's a tradeoff, I guess.
  10. I made the leap from FS9 to FSX, and am happy with the performance. One of the few things I'm not happy with is that I've lost my FSD Cheyenne payware. That aircraft was a tonne of fun to fly in FS9, especially when paired with FSE 'missions.' From the research I've done so far, I get the feeling (rightly or wrongly) that add-ons for FSX are...not-so-much. I guess it's hard to explain what my perception is, but nobody seems to be raving about any of them. What I like to do are roughly 1 hour flights. The Cheyenne allowed me to cover a *lot* of ground while still playing in the FSE universe. What add-ons that fit that mold are you excited about?
  11. Thanks, Nevin. I tried to delete my thread last night because, after a reboot, everything was back to 'normal.' Before anyone asks, yes, I did reboot after installing the updated gfx drivers, as well as a couple more times as I was removing some of the cruft the kids had 'installed' on there (freaking browser 'tool bars,' etc.). Oh well, now I just need to go through and 'tweak' all of the Advanced display settings and the FS9 display settings to get maximum advantage. I should've written all that stuff down somewhere. :Thanks again.
  12. Not having messed around with FS9 in quite some time, I re-installed everything on my WinXP desktop. Downloaded all the FSGenesis scenery and wotnot again, even re-installed the Cheyenne (although it's an exercise in frustration on this machine).Today, I decided to update the Nvidia (Ti4800) drivers, which went seemingly well. Except when I start FS9 now, the civilian GA beacon (green/white rotating light, as if I need to explain it...heh) looks like a pair of horizontally opposed, slowly rotating, solid dark grey cones. I vaguely recall this being discussed in the forums many years ago, but search turns up 250+ pages of results. Anyone remember the fix off hand? Many thanks if you can help.
  13. Another Cheyenne? Man, I love my FSD 400LS so much that I do all of my FSEconomy flights with it. ;) I wonder what will differentiate the Aerosoft from the FSD I already have. At any rate, thanks for the heads up. :)

Thanks for the tip about the sound package...I'm off to get it!

Are there any real world helos that actually have an AP? I downloaded the 407, but it doesn't seem to have any sound. Or maybe I'm just having another FS9 'issue.' :)

That's a great idea; I hadn't thought of that! Thank you. Now, I just need to figure out why the plane wants to go around the world to the left. Sure would be nice to have some aileron/rudder trim. :)
  17. Simply amazing looking VC. Are the nav/engineer stations functional? :)
  18. Timothy-Thank you for the speedy reply. I wonder how far down the GA would have to be taken in order to make it into the 737. What I had in mind was an Aviat Husky (I asked this same question over in the Bush Flying Unlimited forum) on floats. If, indeed, the Husky fuse will fit in, along with the wings and floats all separate, that would be great. Then the question becomes, will they fit in a Combi? :) Heck, is/was there every a 737-700 Combi to start with? Actually, what I really need is a BBJ that can haul the Husky. Thanks for the reply. Now I'm one step closer to picking up the PMDG. :)AG
  19. Is the PMDG 737 available in a cargo or combi variant? And, hopefully this isn't too odd sounding, but can any of the multitude of 737-x00 cargo variants carry a small airplane? I know the 747 is able to take on small aircraft (sans wings), but can the 737?Many thanks,A. Gordon Lyph
