  1. Hello jstonehouse,This may be the same problem I had with the gtl.dll file. I had to register the dll on my system with regsvr32.exe. Regsvr32.exe is found in your "C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe". I just copied regsvr32.exe and placed in the same folder as gtl.dll, then dragged the dll onto it and the tool registered the dll. DirtyMac's Gtl Editor worked fine after that.Thank you for looking into the outter terrain as I had reached my limits of understanding such complex things.Hope this was helpful. You all take care, jimb

  2. Installed your SF Expansion into a fresh new install patched to v2.0 as Flight3 SF Exp. Thought I'd do some exploring. Reno/Tahoe Intl appears to be at the extents of the new expansion to the east. Sorry S. Lake Tahoe fans, but you'll be under water for now.The 2nd screeny shows roughly the northern most of the new frontier. The last is the northwest corner looking roughly southeast.Lots of work to do. Now to get some "know-how" on texturing and making earth. Where should I begin? Perhaps the south and work my way east? Has anyone already started?I'll be using psp7 for texturing.I'm working on the road and the company I work for provides a sprint wireless card. Unfortunately sprint doesn't provide broadband service in the town I'm in now . Only what I consider as wide-dialup, 1xrtt. The speed here is 9k. :( At the office there is cable modem service, but everybody likes peeking over my sholder; but I'll "figger-out" something.jimbwell boo: I can't figure out this new screen shot system, ah-well......

  3. Gone quiet out there again... everyone must be on holidays. :(
I've been on the road working contracts since Sep 08, so hardly any time for fun stuff. Right now in Lake Charles, La.Just recently replaced the internal hd on my personal lappy, replaced the 100g Toshiba with a 250g WD Scorpio(smooth job 'cause I also purchased Norton Ghost14), purchased X-pane9, the FSX Accel pack, a 1tb ext usb hd. Hoping for time to "play". Maybe wrap all this contract work up in May. Looking forward to tinkering with Agtims new SF expansion. You all take care, jimb

  4. I need bailed-out again,Looking at the Coit Tower night textures with Gideons Modelviewer, I realize now years later that I made an error with the pallet. It seems they are set to the Seattle pallet. To make things worse, I bungled the proper naming of the textures. When using Robs Fixmipv4 tool to "change mip palette", it reports the mips have invalid names. Just renaming the files doesn't correct the mip.The hd that crashed on me that had my old Jas files, also contained the folder of all the 3d models and textures I'd created.I dread recreating the textures from scratch. Isn't there a way I can extract the gif's from the mip's with the Makemip.exe tool? If so, what are the command lines for it?JimB

  5. I haven't run this challenge in a while, maybe this will help though:Once you taxi off the active, switch to ground control, let them know your clear of the runway, they'll give you the taxi and parking instructions. Hit "alt + F12" and you should get a green line that you follow all the way to your parking spot. Easier to follow the line with taxi view, "F8". Zoom the view in/out with the "z/ x" keys.JimB

  6. Hi jimmer,Searching around the web, it looks as though you should see a marked improvement in both speed and visual quality. I never owned your current card or the one you inquiring about; but I can relay my experiences with a visiontek xge1600xt 256agp.One of my previous video card upgrades was a Visiontek XGE X1600XT 256 agp. I had upgraded from a BFG6200oc 256 agp. The improvements in speed and visual quality were very noticeable. I did not at the time own FSX. I have since upgraded to a Sapphire X1950Pro 512 agp (requires a strong psu)and I am very satisfied with the performance jump from the x1600xt.I purchased FSX not along after the x1600 install. Frames were low, so I later upgraded to the x1950pro mentioned above. Improved performance and visual quality for all my graphics intensive programs. My next upgrade will most likely be the Dx10 ready Sapphire HD3850 512mb agp. Posted at Newegg for $130.00us.http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/pr...?gpid=227&grp=2http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...ited-_-14102730 I feel that my old home built pc system will have reached its max potential when I upgrade to the HD3850; so will be looking to upgrade my mobo, proc, psu and ram in the future. Even now I'm sure my system is throttling the X1950's full capabilities.Good luck with your upgrade.JimBWinXp Pro Sp2Amd 3700+ 754s ClawHammer2gig pc3200 sdramSapphire X1950Pro 512mb agpMSI K8T Neo-V v1 bios: 080011SB X-Fi xgamerPSU: Antec TruePower 2.0 TPII-430Dx9cLogitech Xtreme 3d ProLogitech Freedom 2.4Saitek AV8R

  7. Tell on myself. What a dope I am.Jas has a sky.crf. I've unzipped it. Has cloud2 thru 7.bin, cumulus1 thru 5.bin. Lots of other bin files. Jas Bsp Viewer is unable to open the cloud2 thru 7 bins, reports them as being old version bins. The cumulus bins were viewable(looks like a snowball or white stone). I added cumulus_1.bin in the editor for the test mission and it doesn't appear.Attached is cumulus_1.bin in the viewer.JimB

  8. Hi Jon,Jas stores it's model resources in one huge .crf file:x:Program FilesXicatJane's Attack Squadrondatatheatereuropemodels.crf.crf is nothing more than a zip file so most file compression programs can unzip it.Method is: create a new folder under "europe". Name new folder "models". Unzip models.crf into the new models folder. Remove/ hide the original models.crf to prevent JAS from using it by preference. The models folder contains .bin, textures in .tga 16bit(it seems Jas relies heavily on masks"), the flight physics in .txt, ai info in ai.bin, sounds in .wav.Because the damage model is extremely detailed, complex models can have 100+ individual .bins and their own textures. The developers naming a cloud,cloud7.bin tells me there was intended to be multiple cloud models. I e-mailed you FW190e4 so you can see it layed out in detail. Here are screen shots of the editor looking at the "cloud" info. JimB

  9. JAS clouds. Well, there are none actually. One of the things that are broken. When creating a new mis in the editor, cloud bank and cloud coverage settings are available. If you want to manually place a cloud in the sky, that is also possible. However, no clouds are ever visible. Example, properties of a cloud is cloud7.bin. If the whole Jas folder is searched, the model is not there. There is also an option to create a cloud bank, and it also uses cloud7.bin.What is functioning are haze and sparse clouds.JimB

  10. That's great neeewwwws. That was one of my dreams to somehow get these LG JAS planes or plane parts functional for Flt3.Ooh, boy, to figure out how to get the LG Jas contrails and smoke to function within Flt3.Flt3 aircraft have cockpit light and gear lights, yet Jas seems broken, making night landings near impossible.Flt3/2 terrain seems to have some kind of terrain illumination for night flying. ie the moon does "lite-up" the ground; yet in Jas, even with a moon in the sky the ground, runways and sky are black.(an un-pleasent to the eye work-around is to mod the Jas user.cfg. Brightest game gamma is opt_gamma 0.2500. Set to opt_gamma 0.2000 and night missions are more tolerable, but the display is disagreable.)Would be nice to have a functional "set_ambient_light xxxx" ala Thief.Or, reverse that. How does Flt3's nav map work, and can that knowledge be used to activate/repair LG Jas' broken nav map.Ah well, I know, too many probables and impossibilities.JimB

  11. Congrats getting your card set up.'Course, probably all different, as you have a superior video card and the latest OS; but here's how mine is set. I have a Dx9c ATI based video card and use Ati Tray Tool(ATT). Wait for Verticle Sync = "always off" Refresh Rate Override= "same as desktop" 6x antialiasing 16x anisotropic Texture Preference= "high quality"Mip Map Detail Level= "high quality"Support DXT Textures and Bump Mapping= both checkedEnable Anisotropic Filtering optimization= checkedEnable Trilinear Filtering optimization= checkedI imagine Flt3 doesn't support alot of what I have switched on; but some other games I run do and the display looks good when the games run.For gamma control I run PStrip in the back ground (I like it better than the ATT gamma control). There's the DDfix tool, but we loose map controls so I've elected to not use it till there's a way to get it to fully support Flt3.As you go along, don't forget to swing by tweakguides.com/, a very-very informative web site for setting up video cards.JimB

  12. I don't know if I set this up correctly. Here is what I hope is my public access fastmail web site for JAS. The big zip file Andre sent me under "misc", and the only skin I was able to salvage, "doll". "doll" was created by warbirds. I don't know how to contact him to see if he'll make available his P38J "beat", P38J "twin dragon", B24D "Strawberry B...." for JAS again. He also had in his "paint barn" a P47 skin, which I think he never released. He had the only site that had a tutorial on how to re-skin JAS airplanes. My moldy brain still can't remember the source of the Spit1 or Spit9 skin; maybe it was Gottedammerung. Same fella who made the 109, and 190 skins. I e-mailed him, hopefully he's still around.Andre's zip contains lots of good stuff.Be nice if U4EA001 were to drop by. He was the author of the mp missions. The old site was http://jasmissions.cjb.net/ http://juvat.jbuff61173.fastmail.fm/Janes%...ack%20Squadron/JimB

  13. Hans,I don't have my gforce 6200oc installed anymore and have WinXp Pro 32bit; but there should be a way to put your nvidia card to advanced view mode. I appologize that I can't remember exactly how that is done with WinXp. Here is a link that may be helpful. The rivatuner or nvhardpage tools shouldn't be needed to do this.http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t48286.htmlhttp://www.nvnews.net/reviews/geforce_7900_gtx/page_7.shtmlJimB

  14. Hi Folks,My hard drive that had a lot of the old Attack Squadron files stored on it failed. So I'm hoping some files could be e-mailed; or, maybe upload them to our library?I'm looking for:-Model Editing Tools that Mad Doc published-JAS mission installer (Armourdave)- Mission Editor documentation in MS Word, PDF, and Windows Help formats (Mad Doc) - Warbirds had published skins for the B24, B17, P38, P47 (I recovered his "doll" P51 skin)- Bloomers JAS Mods (New gun-sight, flak sounds, etc...)- Can't remember who, but someone had uploaded a Spitfire skin.- U4EA001 had made some really nice mp missions: Celtic Sea Control, Melee Mountain (I recovered Lightning over London, Melee II)Other than the listed, I think I've recovered everything else.Thank you,JimBjbuff61173 at msn dot com
