Just had a pleasant little flight, Coupeville Nolf, with Flt3 on my win8pro64bit pc today. Then started challenge 'Hikers Misadventure; challenge ran fine, but my flying skills didn't. Running dgvoodoo2 v2.5 got Flt3 functioning and looking right good. Brought back such pleasant memories; Flt3 and the fellas here at Avsim. you all take care, jimb

juvat replied to juvat's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
I was also reading over at TomsHardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-Kaveri-APU-Gaming,22947.html Then there's TomsHardware article on AMD's hUMA memory tech. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-HSA-hUMA-APU,22324.html If it's there, my eyes keeping missing the part about pci-e 3.0 or ram speed support (on the Kaveri). -

"Is it running when you first load it and after a few seconds the engines quit." Yes, if I start a flt on the active the eng's are running then they shutoff. If I start a flt on the parking apron the eng's won't start. "Try setting up a stock Cessna 172 with the engine running and just call it Cessna 172 test flight" I created a new flt with the fs9 172, got up to 9000' and saved the flt. Exited FS9. Edited the flt as: [Plane.0] Aircraft=Aerostar Default Paint Scheme Hi Resolution Start fs9, load that flt. The engines start cutting off then auto-restart in a loop. Exited fs9. restarted fs9. Loaded that same edited flt and this time engines worked. Landed at TIW, taxi to parking, shutoff engines, re-started with ctrl+e, and both engines fired up fine. Loaded FSD Flt Cold & Dark. Both engines fired up fine.Taxi clearance, takeoff was great. Wow, this FSD Aerostar is a pure-t rocket. What ever caused this for me is a mystery; but your steps cleared it up. Thank you Tinhead59, jimb Oh, I did send an inquiry to FSD through their message system as you suggested. Hopefully they will point out what it was that caused it.jimb

I've tried: -ctrl+E -brought up the panel and click the eng start switches -brought up the throttles into view and the mixture levers are moving ok for start when ctrl+E. -Engines just turnover/ chug. -Tried create a new flt on active runway and the engines will stallout and not restart. -Uninstalled and re-installed the Aerostar; no-go. - Used the FSD DataTest.exe and it found nothing wrong. -Selected different aircraft, including other FSD aircraft I own and they all start fine. So I figure I'm just not "engine start qualified" on the Aerostar. Any tips you folks can give appreciated. I'm unable to ask at their(FSD) forums;can't find the link anymore at their site for the support forum. jimb

Got the notice in my e-mail. I had been "eyeballing" FS Instant Approach, so purchased it and later in the day FSInventions sent me a new e-mail with my FS Instant Help registry key. FS Instant Approach ($24.95 usd) + FS Instant Help (free, normally $9.95 usd). A fine bargain for me. Ran both in FSX w/ the Carenado C185F Bush at 21w Ranger Creek and KGRB Austin Straubel. A quote from the e-mail: "Purchase any product from us this weekend and get FS Instant Help free! The free download FS Instant Help will be sent to you within 24 hours of your purchase!"

A long-long while back there was color pallet editing going on; on the ground textures that helped to depict "snow" and "autumn" coloring instead of the green. It wasn't seasonal though, so you'd need to manually set the pallets by the time of year you were flying. You'd have to search our forum here to see how the guru's were doing it. you all take care, jimb

My 3 "twisty" sticks appear to be functioning just fine. -Logitech Extreme3dPro, Logitech Freedom2.4, Saitek AV8R-01. -FSX Deluxe + Accel: Installed fresh on a new sata drive Win8Pro 64bit. Installation went fine with no problems. Folks with AMD mobo chipsets: don't forget to check AMD site for your Win8 chipset drivers if your mobo manufacturer doesn't offer any. That is what I had to do. Win8 was acting strange with my usb hard drives (kept wanting to reformat them).Gigabyte didn't have drivers for my mobo yet so I went to AMD. Knock on wood and all that, but since I installed the drivers from AMD all has been ok. Make sure you select "motherboard" in the drop down. jimb http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx

First read these articles regarding issues on IE6,7,8 as it pertains to Sp3 installation. You will need the full versions of IE7 and IE8.Remember to backup your Internet Explorer favorites... File, Import and Exports, Export to a file.... http://www.ghacks.net/2008/05/09/dont-install-ie7-before-windows-xp-sp3/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950719 ***************************** Jean-Claude, I've had the problem somewhat as you describe. With my WinXpPro Sp3, what I have had to do is 1st make sure you download and save the full version of Sp3. Then uninstall Sp3 from your add-remove programs. You will be asked to restart. Re-install Sp3. You will need to restart. Re-installing Sp3 replaces your video driver with its own basic amd graphics card driver. It sounds drastic, but is better than doing a full OS repair install. Then you should have a headache free install of amd gpu drivers; at least it has worked for me following a foiled amd driver upgrade because (I suspect) amd damages .net framework on WinXp during its driver installation somehow. good luck, and hope this was helpful, jimb

I opened "DarkWideScreen.tp2" with Crimson Editor and it looks like we would have to edit that file. We'd have to find/determeine the resolution table offsets for Flt3. I've searched about the web on how to do that task but have come up with nothing. I read the TecnicalDocumentation.txt that came with the zip file and it gives a bit more information for the Dark game engine resolution table; but doesn't say how they discovered or determined the values.jimb

Well,I don't own a wide screen monitor (an old CTXPL7 4:3 ratio crt). I notice in my ATI control panel it supports 2 monitors. Looking at the ports of my Sapphire hd3850agp, it has 2 hdmi ports. Am wondering if Hans' nvidia card also supports 2 monitors natively? Does it have 2 hdmi ports, a dvi port or combination there-of? Hook up both monitors at once and disable one or the other within nvidia control panel depending on which flt sim is running?Another idea is adapt the methods created for the Dark Engine that enables fov and wide screen. Upon reading the posts, the gurus seem to of started out with a tool created for modifying old 4:3 Infinity based games that enable fov and widescreen. Astonishing I think. Here are links to a discussion of the mod for the Dark game engine. Further into the discussion is a link to the tool itself with explanations within it's zip file on what they created.http://www.ttlg.com/...ad.php?t=121240jimb

FLIGHT Gameplay. Do you like it?
juvat replied to simmerhead's topic in The Microsoft Flight (2012) Forum
For what it is, I liked it ok. That game for windows I didn't care for. The Icon aircraft was nice. Runs ok on my oldee-but-goodee desktop. I can't say as to appearance because I dialed down some settings. With the settings I did run it on, it looked good.Frames seemed smooth. It recognized my joystick. When I closed the game, I uninstalled the gfw and win live exp. Haven't tried to see if MSFlt will run without those though; probably not I expect. Will I ever replay-likely. Will I purchase any of its dlc-not likely.jimbFound an Icon Aircraft for FSX which I'll flt check one day. -
Well, my Piper was crashing because I failed to add challenge cheat to my Flt3.cfg as instructed by the FSS readme. :rolleyes:Things I note FSS_v.04:-It takes a bit for FSS to acknowledge command start flight plan.-At OLM always fines me for not staying on taxiway(50.00 fine per offence) even though I have alt+F12 to ensure I follow the taxi instructions.-When I land at McChord, it doesn't acknowledge as stated it should in the FSS readme.-The info when displayed on screen does not display long enough.-When I entered command end flight plan at McChord FSS worked fine by closing Flt3 and showing its Welcome to McChord fbo screen.-Shame on me for cheating: The piper didn't have autopilot or that handy hdg knob. So I edited the Script.txt to renegade.-Shame on me for cheating again. I had to remove certain weather files to prevent nasty storms from being selected.FSS is every bit as fun as I remember. A new added challenge for me now is to have successful flights to get my bank back in the green because of those peculiar taxi violations. Now to look into FSS_v.07 and get it working.jimb

I have version Fss_v04. When I start a job (clicking the "To Aircraft" button on the DFx window) my Piper is on the ground gears up so no way of completing. Could you all advise me on a fix?If I start a flt at OLM normally without Dfx with the Piper, all is ok: Gears down, aircraft is at the parking ramp ready for takeoff.I'm thinking maybe this can be corrected in the Script.txt but am unsure. If you guys like nice pleasant music to play inflgiht put title.wmv in the inflight_music folder. If you have WinXp the file is in your windowssystem32oobeimages folder. Open the FlightUnliited3 console with the tilde key ` and type this exactly mtitle.wmv. The letter m is command for music. You all take care, jimb
