Did everyone stop flying the 747, again how much fuel would you board in a step climb flight, do you take your initial altitude or your true cruise altitude?

HII'm checking how much fuel to load on a long haul flight, and I pretty much figured out my distance and checked in the NM section to see how much fuel to board. Now seeing I also would have step climbs which altitude is the right one? My initial climb is the one I board fuel for, does it mean the extra fuel is burned to get you to the other altitude? The higher one flies the less you burn, so, for 4400 NM fuel to board at FL 410/479 is 186.0 lbs but at FL 310/488 210.6 lbs but 15 mins is saved in time. Now there is a big difference in fuel approx 25 000 lbs of difference. What and how do you decide this factor of altitude in a step climb flight and when the time is not so much an issue, to know how much your load should be?I've done many many flights but would like to know the real answer to this that it has bugged me everytime I prepare a flight.Thanks guys.

Just curious why when I clicked refresh AI, all my planes disappeared off my screen/radar? Must be a simple technical reason, but I can't figure it out.

Hi Enzo seeing I had this problem before and hard to get rid of without checking a few settings you may want to lower your visibility settings in activesky to say 30 may seem low when in flight but is actually realistic when flying low and when on the ground, this will limit visibility to where those clouds are drawing in. It feels like a painter is drawing them when you move left or right!Joe

I've tried a few things with new hard drive in same system wasn't easy with no external hard drive to transfer big stuff I basically am in the process of just renewing my license and possibly just upgrading system when vista is here and get ready for FSX. As far as activesky goes I haven't flown much because of work and stuff but I just downloaded B503 I will try updating tonight, the last update worked fine for me it actually updated, if you recall my system wasn't updating anything via the service updates.Anyway knock on wood I'll try it out tonight hopefully get up and running with fs9, I miss it. As far as the other drive I guess it's a good backup for the next system and FSX.Not a total loss.Thanks for reading.

I think thats the difference "before ACTIVE WAYPOINT, I may have passed it and 30 miles later tried getting on course (pink line). My heading was right so I was still heading towards destination airport.

Just got a chance to read the message I'll be trying out the exact same flight plan and try your tips and see if my problem was really having skipped over a waypoint due to ATC vectors.Thanks

Hi guys,I'm not in this flight anymore but I beleive from what I recall I may have missed a waypoint due to my flight plan having an SID and I didn't fly it, since I'm following fs9 ATC instructions. Sounds like this may have been the problem. What do you think?At that point the LNAV did not see what it had to intercept a few waypoints later, now your saying I can update my FMC to fly from where I am sort of like a proceed direct to function? When I kept selecting my next waypoint from legs menu it kept asssuming this was my route discontinued from that waypoint on. What may i be doing wrong? I reread your post I'm sort of understanding it, but can you clarify the difference between, LSK twice to update path from present POS to next waypoint vs LSK anywhere else in LEGS menu to proceed direct to ANY waypoint, and as to why I may be getting my route diconnect error?i think my main problem is all related here, unfortunately I hand flew the flight man what an experience! :)Hope I'm making sense!

I'm banking at 30 degrees in case and it just won't activate LNAV I keep getting this annoying error, why does it keep coming up everytime I click LNAV. My route is fine the pink line on the flight plan is there, so why doesn't it intercept?

You can just install it over any other current version.

HiAre these two features in ASG, different?If I understand it correctly random all will always be different, and wx influence also BUT based on wx, OR random textures will make wx influenced very different every time wx changes? I ask because the auto submit is only full sky theme and cirrus theme?Come to think of it I suppose that is everything.

Hi guys,A weird problem is occuring specifically the beta builds of Activesky will not install. The tool is the setup launcher that will not update my active sky. The installer does point directly to the proper modules folder but it's not installing. For other users that have ASky it's full installer to any build example B496 that doesn't work. I tried other builds like 491 and that does NOT work either.This is not an activesky problem it seems, but rather a problem with my PC. It worked fine up until now.The only most recent thing I can think of is the add ons I purchased. But why would that matter. I also installed pmdg liveries with the installer exe.Anyway I tried a few things and I'm not daydreaming here, it clearly does not work. I've started from scrath removing all hifi from registry cleaning up any folders or prefetch file from hifi and It still won't update. The ONLY thing that does work is the full base installer package SU1 SU2 etc...Any ideas or suggestions?P.s. HIFI team is trying to help me. But no solution was found yet. I want to know if this has ever happened to anyone else using INSTALL SHIELD. upgrading beta builds.Thanks!

HiUnfortunately I'm stuck at Build 470 which is SU3, I cannot update from there on very weird,anyway to add to the mess I've had issues in the past with a ring around my sky/aircraft that makes the clouds pop in and out while taxing or spot plane view, for the longest time I didn't have this and after a reinstall of the program it's back.So since I'm trying a few solutions does anyone know where the option to add mips is, for the life of me I can't remember how I did it, and I think it was an option in activeenvironment only?Any ideas?

Jim I uninstalled all traces through add/remove, all older versions of Asky, I did some research on how to properly uninstall, got no errors but still cannot update to B anything other than 441, it's very very weird.EDIT: 1.JIm the residue left in modules like ASV ASV6 ASV 2004.5 folders can be removed right? 2.Also when installing from full installer destination should be where fs9.exe resides and update b496 should be going to modules folder right?

Yes I am, and I had it installed in the past and had it on my hard drive ,file name asv6-su3 size:6009kb I tried other updates (build) none work I'm stuck at b441.

I'm out of options, I should never of tried installing new build.

JIm, I don't know if this changes anything since removing ASV was OPTIONAL but when removing ASv6 via ADD/REMOVE programs I noticed I still have AS 2004 and 2004.5 and asV still installed not sure if it matters? Doesn't sound like it would because all my other builds installed flawlessly.Sorry about multiple posts, my edit time frame ran out.
