  1. I realize this topic was posted in June of 2011 but I think it still needs some clarification. I have the 8th edition CD, and I noticed that the cargo version has an empty weight of 19,021 lbs. which is what is listed on the the reference tab of the kneeboard. The pax version has an empty weight of 16,125 lbs. So you strip out the seats and galley and head to make a cargo version and you wind up with and aircraft that is almost 3,000 lbs heavier? One of my fellow pilots at DC-3 Airways says, "I have the latest (10th edition) CD and all the .cfg files for both FS9 and FSX have the 16125 empty weight figure except for the FS9 C-47A "Sugar Blues" which has the 19021 empty weight. That file has a 7/25/2005 date and all the other ones are early 2007. So all the empty weights were changed for some reason between those two dates. Whether that one FS9 model was just overlooked or purposely left as is I don't know." So which one is the right empty weight? Bill
  2. I'm thoroughly enjoying the FSX DC-3. I'm able to live with some of the glitches - worked out the engine starting issues and I can make the Sperry autopilot work in spite of the 10 degree jumps.I'm having a problem with the kneeboard checklists. The manual says:NOTE: In order for the choice to be remembered, you must have your Windows Security set to allow cookies from local web pages. How do I set my security in Windows 7 to allow cookies from local web pages? I can open both the tutorial and the regular checklists with my browser, but I cannot access the checklists from the kneeboard.Other than that, if I empty the auxiliary tanks, select the main tanks, and start the engines I can only start the left engine, and then I get a huge engine fire. Curious! Still having a blast!Bill
  3. I didn't really know how to pronounce those myself! I realize our tendency is to add our own linguistic twist to foreign names, and I think we need to celebrate diversity rather than trying to enforce uniformity. I've been as guilty as everyone else of murdering place names in my travels. RC gives us the opportunity to fly all over the world without leaving the comfort of our own homes. I've used it for more than three years and have flown more than 2500 hrs all over the world with my virtual airline. Small refinements over the course of time will make a big difference in the realism factor.Sites like http://dictionary.reference.com/ or http://forvo.com can help out with pronunciations, even if we hang an English/American/Canuck/Brit/Oz/Kiwi accent on them :( .BillP.S. I just heard Reykjavik getting twisted
  4. Found some others when flying over Scandinavia - both Malmo and Stavanger were mispronounced by some pilots and controllers. I had a MAL-a-mo and STA-ven-jer. Don't know how you would handle this; I realize this is a huge project. But perhaps a pronunciation guide or demo would be helpful for those who have volunteered their time and resources to provide voices for RC5.I'm a European Canuck; I still talk KEY-lo-meeters instead of kil-LOH-mitters. I know what kilo means and what a meter is, but I don't know what a kil-LOH is nor what a mitter is.Just a little cultural ethnocentricity for my adopted North America :( .Bill
  5. Ray,Not all voices say those incorrectly, but some certainly do. I'm no Spanish speaker, but any research I have done suggests Maiquetia should be pronounced as mahy-ke-TEE-ah.Check this out: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/maiquetiaBill
  6. Then there's Mon-tee-VID-ee-o for Montevideo, Mai-KWEE-sha for Maiquetia, and WRECK-a fee for Recife.Bill
  7. Is it possible to add Mercator Virtual Airline, callsign "Mercator" to the list for v. 5?www.flymercator.comThanks,Bill
  8. Sorry about having to re-visit this issue. There is no way that I can get RC4 to write to my flight plan directory. I'm using the standard FS9 flight planner, although I am thinking I may have to switch to FSNavigator. Would that make any difference? I have changed and re-changed the attributes on my flight plan directory so many times I have lost count. They are NOT read only, and network sharing and allow network users to change my files are both enabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled autosave. It works fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled RC4, but every time that autosave or I try to save the flight plan I get the runtime 75 error and RC4 shuts down. I realize this is more likely my problem than RC4's problem, but I would really appreciate some direction on this issue.Any more thoughts? Thanks,Bill

  11. RC and FS9 are running on the same computer. I don't have widefs. I did enable sharing the folder and allowing network users to change the files, since I network a laptop with my desktop.I don't understand why I can save the fs9 flight w/o RC, but not with RC.Thanks for your response,Bill
  12. Thanks for your promptness in shipping the RC4 CD. I installed it the other day but I'm having some problems using it. Through reading the various posts on the forum I discovered that I needed to change the read only attribute on the files where my flights are stored. I was running autosave, and I installed the latest version (1.501) before I installed RC4. Autosave was causing lockups and the runtime error, so I removed the dll from my modules folder. I also have a registed version of FSUIPC 3.53. I have been trying to change the attributes on the Flight Simulator folder in My Documents. I always wind up with a green square in the read only check box even if I tell it to make the folder and files read only, then uncheck the box and apply the changes again. RC4 runs fine until I try to save the flight. I can save a flight with no problem until I start RC4. When I start RC4 and then try to save the flight, I get the runtime error again and RC4 locks up.What do I need to change? Thanks for your help,Bill
