  1. Hmmmph. We recycle where I live.
  2. Maybe, but it's all math right? ;-)I agree with PMDG on this, if it can't be done right, don't do it at all. And I also agree that this is for another developer to do. PMDG should do what their best at, making good aircraft simulation. I was just interested in talking about if it where possible outside of FSX.
  3. Your still not getting my point. Forget FSX, forget Activsky: If a stand alone program can read metar, calculate where precipitation would be based on real life models, save the data (location, elevation etc.) to a file. Can't a weather radar add-on read that file from inside FSX, and display the color codes on the displays?
  4. I'm not sure if you got my point. What I meant was a program like Active Sky with an advanced feature that calculates (based upon real meteorological models) where precipitation would form, and store it in a file which a weather radar add-on could read and project inside FSX. I'm not going to pretend to know how FSX programing works, but can't third party add-ons inside FSX read files from outside FSX?Just want to point out that I'm not a weather radar advocate, just found the topic interesting.
  5. Is it possible for a third party program to simulate real weather (precipitation) outside of FSX? So weather radar can use data from that program inside FSX, and if a plane enters one of the storm centers it would crash the plane because of stress (which happens when you fly too fast in FS). Maybe wouldn't be visual correct, and it might slow down FPS, but it would give the simulation some depth. Just a thought.
  6. Is there a chance you can make stairs for the NGX, for airports that don't have jetways? It would be cool if you could request a stair from the CDU or rampmanager, and it will be placed outside by the door of the plane, both front and/or back.
  7. I remember a discussion about the 777, expert said the flight deck of 747 and 777 where similar. Does that mean we might get to see a new and improved 747 after the 777? It probably won't be answered, but I'm throwing the question out there anyway. :)
  8. Thank you Ryan, I'll be looking forward to the update. It's nothing like checking out the forum, and suddenly one day there is a BIG update. It's like Christmas. :(
  9. LoL. Hope they are not there in real life. Must be like having a nude picture alongside a stop sign. :-)
  10. Whats the use of running out of patience? The plane won't come out any faster. It's better they take the time to make it close to perfect when it's released. Try learning a programing language (like C++), then you will see it's not easy keeping control over ten thousands of lines of code.
  11. I would love a PMDG Airbus, like the A320 series. And I want a Fokker 50 for a commuter. I'm not familiar with the triple seven, but I look forward to learn about it when it's out.
  12. Actually the smartphone apps idea was directed towards NGX. So it is relevant. Whats the point of a discussion forum without discussions? Maybe they should close it down and start a blog instead. :-)
  13. For me its the 737, both the classic and NG series. I do like the MD-80 as well. :-)
  14. With a reply like that your asking to be flamed. How about being fair and polite?I used iPhone i the original post because I own one, but I didn't mean iPhone only. I don't see why it should't be for both, and other smartphones OS. The idea was to use the smartphone as an CDU interface.PS. I don't think this will delay the NGX, it could be developed after its released. And by another team.
  15. Yes, I mean the CDU (not good on terminology, sorry). However I can't see the easy of having 2 screen (which you have to buy), wouldn't that effect performance? The reason I posted that idea was to not have 2 screens and drag the CDU and resizing it. If you already have the graphical interface on the phone and only the CDU data passing between the phone and computer, wouldn't that be easier and faster? If it could be done, why would you have to buy another screen?PMDG could make a separate application for every plane they made. That would mean income.
  16. Nice application, I know there are more of the same directed towards FSX.But this is not the application I was talking about, I don't need another display. I want a application that directly communicated with the NGX FMC. The graphic interface and calculations are on the iPhone, and only the data is communicated between the iPhone and FMC in FSX. Could be a small income source for PMDG, if it could be done. It would be cheaper than buying a real FMC, and it would work just like it for people with smartphones.
  17. One thing I would like to see for NGX, is an iPhone application that turns the iPhone into a FMC for the NGX.
  18. The JS41 doesn't have an interior cabin, what you see is the exterior textures. I don't think PMDG does interior cabins anymore, because of the detailed VC, it would bring the FPS to its knees.
  19. I would like to see a new FSX version of the 747-400. Since they previously argued that the 777 is a lot like the 747, maybe it won't be hard to make a new 747 after the 777?Anyway. I dream of a Fokker 50, guess it's a long shot. :-)
  20. Are you running flightsim as a administrator? I had the same problem until I discovered that I didn't. Right click fs icon and select "run as administrator", or right click and select properties and check "run as administrator" (under compatibility tab) then you always run it as administrator.
  21. Yes, and other addon key assignments as well. FSX keept crashing on me whenever I pressed the 'F' key, it turn out that I had bind the 'F' key to a function in Leonardo MD-80 key binding setup. I though it was a bug in PMDG MD-11 until I discovered that FSX crash in a default plane as well. Remember to keep an eye on your key binding.
  22. You can download the control manager software for free from CH own homepage: http://www.chproducts.com/retail/tech_control_manager.htmlYou can bind the 'AP disconnect' form the PMDG menu to a key, and bind the same key to a button in the control manager for CH products. I use FSUIPC for this, then you can do the control binding from inside flightsim. And with the FSUIPC you can bind 'gear up' to one button and 'gear down' to another button (using the flipp buttons). You have to buy the register version for these functions.Ha en fin dag!
  23. I had a similar problem. Whenever I used the Flight Sim X menus under a flight, even the replay function, the engine seem to shut down. I posted the problem on this forum, and got an answer from somebody who said it could be the mixture axis on my controller. So I removed the mixture axis form the FSX menu and the problem seem to be solved. But now I can brake / retro with the mixture axis on my CH yoke, I have to use the keyboard. Although the symptom is gone, the problem isn't.To PMDG: Anyone on the PMDG team reading this? There seem to be a problem with the mixture axis and the MD-11. The mixture axis in is used for retro in FSUIPC. You should look into it.Stian BeinsetENML
  24. Thank you Tom, you where right. I removed the mixture axis from the FSX control configuration menu, and now the problem is gone. I use CH yoke, and I set up the mixture handle as reverse from the FSUIPC menu. It seems like I have to find some way to work around this problem.Again thank you for your help! :)Stian BeinsetENML
  25. Hello, first I want to congratulate PMDG, the MD-11 is superb! However, I have a small problem with the MD-11, not a very big one but never the less, annoying:When the engines are running, and I open the FSX control configuration menu (not the PMDG menu), and return to the sim all the engine have shut down. It also happened after a landing when I use the FSX replay function. Having an engine out on the taxiway is a lot safer than in mid air. :) Am I the only one with this problem?I have FSX with the latest service pack (not acceleration), PMDG 747 and the MD-11. I'm using Windows XP 32bit with SP3, and I have: 4GB ram (only 3 in use), Intel Duo E6850 3GHz, Nvida GeForce 9800 GTX.Thank you for your time :)Stian BeinsetENML
