  1. Sound business sense Molleh.

What I fail to understand is that, we are not asking for a new development, merely a 3D version of the VC cockpit? The length of this thread must tell all, surely.  I would be quite prepared to pay double the original asking price for this in FSX.

    Hi George,

I think it was Ryan who told that building a new VC is very time consuming. I remember it was in a discussion about the possibility to change between a dirty and clean cockpit. They have to make pictures, They must build up the picture, etc.

I'm not very skilled in programming, bur I can imagine, if it cost a lot of time it isn't worth the money you get for the new upgraded MD11.

However, I love to fly the MD11 and I agree with you, I'm willing to pay a lot of money for a "NGX qualitylevel" MD11 VC.

Several month ago someone started to build a high res cockpit for the 747X. It was removed (didn't asked permission to PMDG or something like that. No doubt PMDG was right), but I should  be happy with a simple upgrade like that. The textures this guy made looked very crispy.

    Regards,

  2. Well, I bought a GTX 660TI a few months ago. I had a GTX285 before that. I thought there would be a big increase in FPS, but to my frustration there was non.

I understand that fsx uses the cpu and the graphic card is not so important. I think Mathijs (aerosoft) told in his settingspost that some older cards work better.

Martin, I don't know if you did this already, but format the whole thing and start over again. If you install FSX, start it up. (look at the framerate)Than close it and install the SP1/2 or Accelerator, then start up again. (If you uses GOLD no need for that.)

Than follow Word Not Allowed's guide. They were right here. It gives better framerate.

Start up every time you installed a scenery or plane. Sometimes you see where the problem start.

    I know,....it is a lot of work :-)

  3. And that is so frustrating! My computer is so much better, but I never make these FPS.

    Martin,

It is always difficult. The problem could be anywhere.

Did you tweak your FSX.cfg via this site : http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

    It helps a lot.

And don't install FS in the C:\programfiles, but in another directory. (C:\FSX or D:\FSX)

You can also try to set your sliders in the settings to max.

It is strange, but if I do so I get higher frame rates.

Only the water setting is at 75%

Traffic at 20% and no boats or ferries. And no bloom effect. If I switch " bloom" to on, my fsx drops to 10/14 fps

    Succes

  4. Kinda sounds like there might not be video of the actual speech unfortunately - this may indirectly be my fault. I asked the guys doing the video to try to get better audio through the stream when I was in the chat channel - they shut it down and moved the camera closer to the podium before RSR started and I think that was when they forgot to start it recording again.

Maybe it is possible to put the speech (in text) only here in the forum.

History and future of FS. I'd really like to read what was said that evening.

  5. Flight simulator is heavily dependant on the CPU.. The higher you clock the processer the faster the performance in the sim. If I reduce my clock on the core I immediately notice the differences.

    Yes you're right.

I only wanted to say that you don't always have problems with fps on non overclocked cpu's.

When I overclock I see higher fps, but it is (in my case) not always stable.

(not enough knowledge in over clocking  ^_^ )

    Eric

  6. If you haven't overclocked, I would expect your symptoms.

I disagree with that. I have a i7 2600 not over clocked and a nvidia 550 ti. 6Gb internal ram

Flying with the NGX gives me 30 fps. (that is the maximum framerate I set in Nvidia inspector.)

At the gate of EHAM, very frameconsuming scenery, it gives me 15 to 25 fps.

Maybe a very slow hard disk?

  7. I like them both. Not only the VC has to be highly realistic and very detailed, I also want to have a highly realistic exterior.

Even if I spend most of the time in the VC. If I'm in an exterior view it must be nearly perfect.

As PMDG pictures are showing these days.

So I'm glad PMDG makes this decision for both.

  8. Chase said they would upload to the video gallery. Probably later on today, as I would assume they are quite busy today.

That would be great indeed. I really want to hear what he has to say about the future of flightsimming.

  9. Hello Guys,

my 747 ( latest build) work fine with FSX DX10 (latest Patch). But the external Light (Strobe, Beacon and Logo) are heavy in trouble.

The Strobe Light work only in a small angle of View, the Logo and Beacon Light are fully disappear.......so far.

Someone know an solution for that issue?

    Thanks a lot

as far as I know, this is a problem with DX 10. Buggy as hell.

But some people get higher frame rates with DX10.

Sorry, not very helpful I presume.

  10. The thing is the current MD11 is a superlative aircraft and can hold its own against the ngx in all departments - sure the textures are not as crisp but as a flying machine it has a special charm to it.

yeah i would buy the upgrade in a heartbeat IF PMDG decided to produce a v2 but that is an enourmous IF!

I'll buy two if it helps  :P

  11. As has been said before, the DC-6 is a light model, intended to keep guys ( and girls?) on the team busy, who would otherwise be sitting on their hands between big projects. The MD-11 was, by all accounts, one of these big projects.

I'm looking really forward to the DC6, but I wouldn't  had a problem with an update for the MD 11 to keep the guys busy  :P

  12. if you still have your downloads of the NGX and the right emails with the numbers, everything will be fine. It is amazing to see how much speed you gain with a complete fresh install of windows and fsx.

    Regards.

  13. Ah well,

I will see whenever it will be released. In the meantime waiting patiently.

But still, it is nice to hear sometimes any news from the devs. Even if it is just "we're making fine progress"

It gives the silly feeling you are a little bit involved in the devellopment (I hope this is the right english word)

But on the other hand, I don't know if you followed the forum of the airbus X extended? I think Mathijs from aerosoft (communicating a lot on the forum) somethimes hoped the forum members were a little bit less involved

Merry Christmas everyone and a very good 2013

    Regards

    Eric

  14. Thanks guys, I went ahead and did an un-install, and a re-install. Good now, but I feel it will be back, so will be watching. Have not changed any fonts that I am aware of.

    JerryF

After I did a uninstall/install it disappeared in my case. But it didn't came back, when I uninstalled the MD11 and also all his repaints and installs them again.

  15. Attached is picture showing some ugly pattern in the mesh. I would appreciate if anybody could give some advise on how to adjust in order to get rid of this recursive pattern. I pretty sure there should be no such recursive patterns.... Maybe some settings are set not correctly.

    Sincerely

    Geir

    Hi Geir,

FSX shows a lot of this mesh.

You can buy programs like GEX and ultimate terrain and the fax mesh is gone. It looks a lot better.

  16. AVSIM has it on good authority that Rob Randazzo has been through an epiphany. In his dotage, he has realized that he never did get flying the SAAB 340 correct (he never could figure out that rudder to yaw ratio thing), and decided that his roots really lie in twins; as in lower altitude twins. That and hopefully, with help from his friends, that he could get a rudder big enough to satisfy his need to saw bone those rudder pedals.

So, as AVSIM is famous for doing, we are revealing tonight a super secret project that is an AVSIM EXCLUSIVE!!! All we have is a picture. No detail. No hints. Just a picture. We are told, with less than good authority, that if this were the normal man's dog house, that his wife would claim first dibs. Can you blame her? You draw your own conclusions.

So, without further adieu, here is the image that all of the PMDG crew, we are told, do not want you to see. Remember, you saw it on AVSIM FIRST!!!

I like these kind of posts very much

    Great, thanks Tom!

  17. We'll be issuing a statement on this shortly - I've had it running on my system for about a week testing it. Our stuff works but there are some caveats.

As far as I can see. It works with nog problems. But I'm happy to test something. Eric

  18. I would dearly love to get improved performance when flying my PMDG heavies. Currently I run out of RAM after half an hour or so and the clarity of the flight deck and aircraft is well below the pictures I've seen online and on the PMDG site.

However I'm not computer literate enough to make a sensible choice of what to upgrade. If indeed that's required.

    Here are my computer details:

    Processor : Intel ® Core ™2 CPU 6400 @2.13 GHz 2.14 GHz

    Windows 7 32 bit

    RAM 4.00 (3.25 GB usable)

Video card : Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS

    Guidance would be appreciated.

    Cliff

    Hi Cliff,

Changing to windows7 64 bit helps a lot. (or maybe to windows 8 64 bit)

And I should upgrade my computer with 2 extra Gb Ram (6Gb total). But you should only do this if you have a 64 bit system. Otherwise it doesn't help you.

An i7 processor gives you way more speed and fps, but for the " out of memory problems" the 64 bit and extra ram should help.

    Eric
