Cessna 210 Fs9/FSX
Thanks for everyone who replied to my original question.Yes I suspect that I would go for the FSX version, due to it being the turbocharged version, however I am am only running FS 9 right now.I am currently spending all my available cash on completing my PPL course, although I often look on with envy at all the fabulous addons that are being produced for FSX right now.I am currently flying the C152 in real life, and have to say that the Carenado version (which I own) is an extremely good representation of the real thing.Best regards,Chris

active sky graphics
Hi all,Sorry if this question has been asked/answered before, but having read through lots of previous posts , I have been unable to find an answer to my question....I have Active sky 6.5, and use FS9I have had excellent results with active sky regarding real life weather, and as I live in Glasgow, currently have EGPF (Glasgow) set up as my default weather station.I am currently close to completing my PPL course, and am delighted to say that the weather in my sim frequently mirrors very closely what I see out of my window! My question however refers to the active sky graphics part of the progamme. Is this a 'stand alone' part of Active sky, or can it only be used when active sky main programme is running?I have tried using the graphics programme both with and without the main programme running, but in any case can't seem to get it do what I think it should....For example, if I choose a 'sky theme', then select 'dew point', save it to Fs then start up my sim, it doesn't seem to show me the chosen theme.Do I need to indicate a location for this weather to show up, or am I missing something here?Any advice would be gratefully received!Best regards,Chris Liddell

Cessna 210 Fs9/FSX
Hi all,Hope I can get some advice regarding the C-210.I am considering purchasing the 210 Centurion for FS9.I currently use FS9 and was wondering if the FS9 version of the 210, models the same aircraft type as the FSX version? It seems that the FSX version is the turbo 210 whereas the FS9 version is the normally aspirated one?Any advice would be gratefully received - thanks!Chris.

Airline security
Hello all and thanks for all your thoughts. To cover a few of these points - the pilot concerned wasn't a relief crew, and as far as I could see was happily chatting up the flight attendants!Maybe I am being too sensitive, but given the events of the recent past, I really would have thought that any opportunity for any non authorised person to gain entry to the flight deck during a flight would have been eliminated by strict procedures.I believe that long haul jets have crew rest areas, which do not require visits through the main cabin? Now obviously the pilots need to go to the toilet and get refreshments, but I would have thought there were ways round that. The toilet into which I was going was literally one foot from the flight deck door, in fact I had to squeeze around the pilot in question in order to gain access, and despite the (half)drawn curtain, there were no restrictions on passenger movement in this area. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread.I do have an ATP contact, and the next time I get the chance to chat with him, I will ask him what he thinks of this matter.I suspect(as has already been suggested) that this sort of issue is fairly commmonplace - maybe I am just being too paranoid!

Airline security
Hello all.Just a post to ask if anyone out there knows much about current airline security issues.I just returned to Scotland from a pleasant holiday in Lanzerote. On the flight back in a B757, I was surprised/amazed/concerned to see the first officer standing in the forward galley just in front of the flight deck, and in front of the toilet which I was going to use.I presume that the flight deck door was locked, but although the cabin crew had drawn a curtain to hide this from view, he obviously had to exit then re-enter the flight deck.I don't think he was even using the toilet, and the flight only lasted 4 hrs.Does anyone have any similar experience?I would have thought that post 9/11 such trips into the cabin area by flight crew enroute would have been forbidden? Interested to hear what anyone else might think about this issue.

CH yoke problems
aikichris replied to aikichris's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi and thanks for your advice.I seem so have sorted the problem out,and indeed I checked assignments in FS9, which seems to have defaulted to assigning the mixture to the rudder pedals, and the prop to the mixture etc ..........you get the idea!?So - having re assigned things we seem to be up and running - but just out of interest can anyone explain why running the CH programme manager seems to have caused this?In any case thanks for all your help!Cheers,

CH yoke problems
aikichris replied to aikichris's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks for the advice.I have now downloaded the CH device manager ,and the a/c seems to be flying straight! However, despite following the simple steps to calibrate the yoke, I am now having the following problem:When calibrating the prop and mixture, the movement of the levers is detected by the manager programme, but when I fly the a/c the mixture does not work , and the mixture lever now operates the props! What should I do ? - help!Best regards,

CH yoke problems
Hello all - hope someone out there can help me.I have a CH products yoke, which I have used with no probs for about 2 yrs.Recently I have been having some problems (which may not be related to the yoke specifically)Sometimes when flying the a/c leans - banks to the left - the vc yoke is leaning to the left, and although pressing the no 5 levels the ailerons, the monent you use the yoke again it leans once more.On the ground the left aileron is visibly in a left banked position.I can sort the problem by recalibrating the yoke, but the problem is still there on an intermittent basis.Any suggestions? Is it that the yoke is sending the wrong signal? The little box with the moving cross in it usually shows it to be left of centre when it is playing up.Thanks for any advice.Best regards. Anti ailiasing
Can someone explain what the anti ailiasing function does? (I hope I have spelt it correctly!)When I check the box it seems to cause difficulty in accessing some of the menus in the top bar (ie what you see after pressing alt)There is no problem with the basic functions, but some of the drop down menus from various add ons - when you click something in the menu, the screen just freezes and short of rebooting, I can't get anything to work at all.I have vista home premium, run FS9 'as administator' and otherwise my system is running well ( I turn off my anti virus when simming)Thansk for any help. Cheers. PS My original reason for checking the ailiasing box was due to the fact that I was getting some distortion on screen - this has cured it.

Reinstallation of liveries
Hi Ryan,Sorry for the late reply - just realised that you had responded to my question.I have now tried to install the liveries via the right click run as administrator - same problem, the only 600 that appears on my a/c menu is the default PMDG one.The 700's are fine - any idea as to what I might do?Thanks!PS one new question also - I am having problems with the failures menu.I never used failures before on my old PC,but some seem to work , and other say that they are already failed when nothing has happened.Cheers,

Reinstallation of liveries
Hello all - I hope someone here can help..........I have been using the 737NG 600/700 series for a while now with no problems.During that time I downloaded some of the liveries from the website, and installed them.I have just upgraded my PC, and after reinstalling the 737 (from the CD), tried to reinstall the add on liveries.I used the original download files which I had kept in a folder. All the 700 ones worked fine, but I can't seem to get the 600 ones to reinstall.I have since redownloaded the 6oo ones - same result. My new PC runs VISTA, and after I run the install shield, I get an error message saying that it did not install, and would I like to try again using the correct settings.Whether I do this or not, the liveries just don't appear on the a/c menu.Any suggestions? The 737 seems to be working fine otherwise.Best regards,

Objects on runway
Thanks very much for the tip!One question - I downloaded the file, and there are two bgl files;USA-KTEX Telluride.bgl, and USA-KTEX Telluride_exc1.bglWhich one should I use?I dropped the latter one into the addon scenery scenery file and the obstruction on the runway is now gone!Much obliged.Cheers.

Reinstalling FS Crew Default 737
Hi there.I have used the default FS Crew 737 for a while now, and recently upgraded my PCI have tried to reinstall the programme but although the FS2 Crew info now shows in the programs bar on the left side of my desktop, I am having some problems. The CPAL bar only sems to work sometimes, and there are parts of the checklists which no longer respond etc.I am sure I have stuffed the thing up, but i need some advice!I still have my proof of purchase and product key stuff. Also the new PC is running with VISTA - can this cause any problems? My FS9 seems to be running well otherwise. Thanks for any help.Best wishes,

NAVDATA help needed
Hi Dan.Could I just clarify what I need to do please?I'm a relative newbie to the 737 NG and I have the version 1.3B which I have installed, and never updated the airac cycle.I see that the version which seems to be free right now is the '0609' demo version?I have downloaded it, and when unzipped shows up as an exe. file.Do I just run it to install - or is it more complicated than that? Thanks for any help,Cheers,

Flight plan newbie
Hello all.Hoping I can get some help/advice here!I have been simming for nearly a year, and have recently started using two aircraft which model the FMC.The Dash 8-300 and the PMDG 737 NG 600/700 series.I presume that I am correct in thinking that the routes generated by the Microsoft flight simulator 2004 are a bit simplistic for direct programming into FMC?I.E. Route generated from Dublin - Glasgow.EIDW MULLA RINGA BLACA GIRVA EGPF.If I load this into the Dash it seems ok, but the 737 is obviously much more sophisticated - and this route does not have things like airways and smaller waypoints. If the larger waypoints are loaded should the FMC fill in some of the gaps?I can work the tutorial routes no problems. Is there somewhere I can access British routes about one hour duration? Thanks for any help!!Cheers,

Default 737
Quick question......I have loaded FS2Crew default 737 to my PC, and think it is a great programme. Is it still possible to use the default 737 in its original form? When I load it directly, or load the flying lessons using the 737 I get all the FS2Crew sub pages coming up.I know that to use the FS2Crew programme the default 172 has to be initially loaded, shut down then the aircraft changed to 737 etc, but my question relates to the usage of the 737 as the original FS2004.I have FS2Crew lite for the Cessna 172, but provided that I don't activate it, can still use the 172 as before. Thanks for any advice!Cheers,

FS2 Crew default 737
Hi Bryan. Thanks for your reply.I can now see the figures thanks to the online clear type tuning through the Microsft website.I can't say that the resolution seems to make much difference on my PC.The main thing is that I can now use the programme - which is great! Thanks again for all your help.Best wishes,
