  1. Hi AllAfter inserting the desired temperature in the reduced thurst page of the FMC I have noticed that the temperature value disappears when I select the required reduced thurst from the 3 options underneath.Could somebody please tell me is this normal-because if I re-enterthe value again,a different value for the reduce thurst is given.I have atached 3 images of the FMC to show this.Qas
  2. Hi everyoneI have put into practice some of the advise given and already my landings are much better.I am flying with zero winds below 3000ft-and the plane stays in a good line.I used to fly with the real weather settings and I must say I missthe changing clouds etc now.Could somebody please tell me if I can use the real weather and still be able to cancel winds at 3000 and below. If this is possible than I will have the perfect set up.Nevertheless many thanks to all for taking so much time to help me.Qas
  3. Hi BobMany thanks for taking time help with such a comprehensive explanation.qas
  4. Hi all-again.Could somebody please tell me,a.Why is it important to switch the ISA to MACH in the jets and at what altitude should you do that?b.Why does the pressure needs to be set to 'Stnd' at transition altitude, and whats the difference between 'trans. level' and 'trans. altitude'c. Whats decision altitude-and why do you need to set the 'baro' to that level.I do realise that these may be very trivial and basic questions-I apologise for wasteing soemones time.I have tried looking them up and the answers don't make much sense.Looking forward to your help.Qas
  5. Hi everyoneI guess I was trying to fly before I could run!!! :-lolI have decided to start from the basics again with static weather conditions etc-I was flying with live weather etc before.I am still confused by the term 'the plane must be trimed' for landing-does this mean approp. flaps, speed etc. Also I read soemwhere/or heard 'set the landing trim'where do you find the landing trim from.Apologies for going on about the subject-I really apprciate all the help offered by you all.many thanks.Qas
  6. Many thanks to all of you for the help and advise-I do try to follow most the of things suggested. My nightmare always starts about 100ft of landing-I have got the 747 pmdg-keeping it lined on center line becomes impossibel-it ALWAYS veersstongly to left/right etc.I am okish with the 737 or lighter planes-the 747 beats me everytime.Someone has suggested cancelling the winds at ground level-I don't know how to do that-I will try find out and give it a go.I thought it was my old sidewinder joystick and hence the reason for the pedles-I have heard that the yoke offers better stabilty-Could somebody confirm that and I will get it too-won't tell the missesthough-she already thinks I am married to my flightsim=-:)Could you please tell me what do you mean by 'the plane should be trimmed',I have very little understanding of landing principles-I normanly have flaps 30 and the suggested speed in the FMC-and I keepchangeing the trim to maintain reasonable approach.Once again many thanks to you all for the help.Qas
  7. HiI have been simmimg for over a year and my landings have not got any better-I just miss the center line everytime.I have the side winder 3d joystick and recently bought the ch pedle, thinking this will help.wrong-landings are still just as bad.Could somebody please suggest some ideas/tricks of trade regarding doingthat special dead on the center line landings. Many thanksQas
  8. Hi BryanThanks for taking time to help.THe FO does switch the landing lights ON at takeoff.Only on one occasion the FO switched the lights OFF and that was at a height of about 20,000ft.Looking forward to your help.Qas
  9. Hi AllI think I have managed to sort the problem.Instead of selecting micrsoft joystick in the games controller,I choice '6 button joystick with w/POV and throttle'and both the sidewinder joystick and padel are recognised by fs9.The 4 base buttons on the joy stick are not active-no big loss.Outcome!!! flying career on track again, other half says 'I knew you will be able to sort it'?????!!!!she doesn't know the track ir is on the shopping list next and than the ch yoke.Hopefully anybody having problems with setting up the pin connector padels will be able to get them working now.Qas
  10. Hi AllCould somebody who uses the ch pro analogue padels please tell me how to make them work with the Microsoft sidewinder 3d joystick-the original about 10years old.I have connected everything as per instructions; I have downloaded the latest analogue driver from ch website. In the calibrate box I can calibrate the padels but the joystick does not calibrate-only the slider and the 4 movements are possible -none of the buttons work. When I started a flight the 744 pmdg was veering to left/right on the runway. The power slider does not work and the forward/back and sideways function of the joystick do not work properly-I get wild jerky movements. In ch manual it says you need an analogue joystick-can you please Advise how I can make this analogue-where can I download a driver for it.Please help as my flying days seem numbered-my other half is already taunting me with 'I told you not to buy these
  11. The update on this is that if I skip the' pre start sequences' than the FO does switch the lights off at 10000.hopefully some one can suggest a solution.Qas
  12. HiMany thanks for the reply-I am sure it's very straight forword to master, but at the moment i think i will stick with the lesson 4 method and use lnav vnav and let the plane fly the route.Maybe I will take the challenge after I have managed to land properly????????.:-(Qas
  13. Hi BryanYes I have installed the update-As you may recall from my past postsI have had few problems getting everything to work -I had to re-install both fs2crew and pmdg.qas.
  14. Hi all and seasonal greetingsThe FO does not switch the landing lights to off when the +10000ft alt. is reached. He does switch them on before takeoff.Everything else works OK with the pmdg fs2crew.Could somebody suggest a solution please!!Qas
  15. HisI got the level-d angle of attack cd recently and I noticed that the fix page is being used a lot for setting the landing configurations. The procedures used are not explained anywhere else.I am wondering if those procedures are exclusive to level-d or can you use them for the pmdg 744-which I have .If so,than could some body please suggest a tutorial that explains which point do you place in the fix page for landing and how do you decide which 'rad' value to use.I have read the explanation on 'abeam' but still can't understand it-could someone please help-and why do you need it.I always use the 'loc' and the 'app' for landings and switch them off around 1000ft if I feel brave to tackle a manual lnding-The AOA cd does nothing like this....what happens in reallife?I am very new to the simming world-I know nothing- through trials and errors I have managed to understand most things about the FMC,the fix page I never bothered about-the AOA cd seems to suggest we can make use of this page and it looks fun too-Please help as much as you can-I would really like to try a landing where I decide and programme all steps.Seasonal Greetings to AllQas
  16. many thanks everyone-I hope I will be able to get the runway, gates etc. info from some of these sites.Merry christmas.Qas
  17. HiCould somebody point me to a link that has the European runway charts(diagrams)I have managed to find a link for the American.I use radar contact and taxing is a nightmare. Many thanksAnd Happy Christmas to all.Qas
  18. HiMany thanks to everyone for all the help-and special thanks to Steve for the lengthy explanation.I am using the FMC and DEP/ARR page to choose and amend the sid.I did not know that the sid's name was similar to the way point-in fact I don't know how to tell a waypoint from all the other data-I think a waypoint is the name on the magenta line?Next time I will look out for a sid name that looks similar to the 1st way point and adjust it as required.I like simming but I must admit I have a very little knowledge of the the real world procedures-I am grateful to you all for all the help now and in the future.Qas
  19. HiSteve, I have attached few images of the before and after for egllegccand eglllebl.I use fsbuild 2.2 and in both cases the sid BPK6G is recommended. This is ok for egllegcc but it needs alot of sorting for eglllebl.I now choose CPT3G for egllelbl-Qas
  20. Thanks for the reply Steve.I use 27L at EGLL-normally I choose the Sid at the top of the list(I think it's BPK6G).I have only done few flights-been having alot of trouble with PC crashing. When I fly to EGCC the resulting fp after sorting the discontinuityis OKish-I planned a flight to LEBL and it turned out to be a mess.I will post a picture within few days.Isn't there another place to down load more accurate SIDS,surely in real life you don't get the discontinuities?Qas
  21. HiI have the 744 pmdg.Could somebody please help me with setting SIDS-I use fsbuild to plan a flight. In the departure section of the FMC when I set the runway and choose the SID at the top of the list I get either: a. Discontinuities b. the path of the SID is no way near the direction of the flightpath. This makes it difficult to plan a good departure path.Surely this does not happen in real life? I have downloaded the sid/star data from NAVDATA.Could you please tell me where can I download the sid/stars that are appropiate for te runway and do not present the above problems.Looking forward to your help.Qas
  22. HiI was told to enter runway 27L at EGLL-As I lined up the AI kept coming and crashed into me.This happened four times. The only way to T/o was to do a speedy runway entry and get well ahead of the AI that enter at same time. How can I prevent this and why does RC4 not prevent this.I thought RC4 was aware of all this. Please advise.Qas
  23. HiThanks for the reply and advise.I do not have squak box-don't even know what it is.I always run the fs2crew.setup before all flights. The problem is I think linked with the key assignments in the PMDG.I think if you assign a key in pmdg and fs2crew needs to use it than that function can not be activated by gs2crew.eg. I have the autopilot in pmdg menu assigned to the Z key-I think it should be left alone.I will remove the assignment from the PMDG menu over the weekned and let you know what happened.Qas
  24. Thanks Ron-sounds a great idea.
  25. Hi everyonemany thanks for takeing time to advise me.I think I will be buying the ch pedals and the track ir-provided my other half approves!!!!!.Once again many thanks to all for helping me spend wisely.I hope.qas.
