PMDG 777-300ER - Perf Init/VNAV Problems- Probably Pilot Error
Thank you Kyle but I am getting the same problem even if my wind uplink is done correctly at the first attempt. Maybe the one I am experiencing is a "new" king of this problem? Lorenzo Chiovaro

LEGS page not showing altitudes
Hi everybody, I'm writing here trying to solve an issue with FMC of the 777-300ER in particular. When I load a route on the FMC, program correctly the INIT REF page and uplink the winds both for FPL and for descend the LEGS page does not show any speed/altitude prediction for the flight. Just the constrains but nothing more. My VNAV is still engageable if I press the button two or three times on the MCP (otherwise the CDU shows VNAV UNAVAILABLE) but still no altitudes. I have also noticed that my CDU blinks rapidly sometimes when this issue happens and in the VNAV page the ECON SPD rapidly changes from magenta to white and back again. In the end I would like to give you some more details: -) PMDG 777 with Sp1b, fresh install from zero. No updates from previous versions since I ve bought it few days ago. -) I use Virtual CDU 777 app for ipad connected with the module version 2.4 -) the problem described here happens not at every flight. It seems to be random but I think I am not doing nothing different. -) I use PFPX to export both FPL and Winds -) I use active sky next as wx tool but in the PMDG menu I have set not to create wx file for the PMDG since it comes from PFPX. Any idea? I have seen some others have experienced the same problem but I did not understand what causesnit and how to definitly solve if. Thank you Regards Lorenzo Chiovaro

Some questions about the NGX
Hello Jan, About the first question you made I'm not sure I have the right anwer but I try :) I think that you don't have to save the flight any time you land and re-take it the next time you fly. Every aircraft should have a personal "logbook" to register how much time do you fly with it and calculate service-based failures but maybe I'm wrong :D About the second question I have the same same problem!! The suggestions that came out of the forum are, for the moment, to disable turbulance and in flight strong winds. In such way this problem should be fixed. I realy hope the PMDG could do something definitive to solve this. Regards Lorenzo Chiovaro

Strange "turns" after SP1C installation (help)
Hello everybody, I have done a little search in the forum about this problem but I didn't find anything. So I'm here writing... Today I have used the NGX for the first time after SP1c installation. I have used brand new panel files (not previoulsy saved) and the aircraft behaved correctly for the first part of the flight. Everything OK! ;) When I started descent anyway...the aircraft started to turn suddenly to the left and to the right loosing completely the magenta line on the ND and performing turns till 60° of bank. I have tried in many ways (selecting HDG SEL, resetting LNAV mode etc.) but nothing helped. After a couple of these turns the aircraft regained automatically the right way on the magenta line. =O Very very strange... Anybody else have experienced this kind of behaviour? Is there sombody who found how to solve this? Today happened twice to me...in every flight I did. Thank you very much for your help! Best Regards, Lorenzo Chiovaro

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Yes...this was the point!! The G/S option in the FMC MUST be switched ON. Only in this way the autopilots can be coupled and a full autoland conducted! Now I know what I was doing wrong!! Gooood!!!Thanks to everybody!!RegardsLorenzo

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Wait a minute...the sption G/S (glide slope) in the FMC must be ON, right? Both when I select the procedure in the DEPARR page and on the APPROACH page, too. Lorenzo

Thank you! I will check it for sure! ;-)Lorenzo

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Mmmm...I still cannot get the mistake I do... :SIs there written somewhere in the manual? I mean...how to perform an autoland?
-
Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
I think this procedure is correct. You have to add also that both CRS must be aligned with the runway and both FDs must be on. Right? :)

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Really? Do you mean that you have done a full autoland with just one AP on? :S

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Ok...so...in this case my deduction came to a ded end! :)Quite frustrating now...but I'm sure I will discover what I'm missing. I'll do another try.Lorenzo

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Just a question that arose when I saw a video on youtube some minutes ago.Does the aircraft need to be fully configured when I hit the second AP button? I mean does it need to have gear down, flaps 30 or 40 (as I preselcted in the FMC) and speedbrakes armed before hitting the second AP button? Regards,Lorenzo Chiovaro

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Hello everybody!! I have just tried but sadly nothing changed. I'm still not able to make an autoland. :(Am I perhaps missing something? :SRegardsLorenzo

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
Thanks Jeroen. I think I've already tried to arm the second autopilot once the G/S has been captured and the speed window allows to select Vref. But I'm not sure of this. I will try again soon and then I will report here if it worked or not :)Regards,Lorenzo

Autoland w/ Flare? 2nd Autopilot not engaging
I have the same problem. Both with FAIL OPERATIONAL and FAIL PASSIVE autopilots I am still not able to autoland. I have Collins Autopilot, Digital standby instrument and no HUD.I select the ils frequency on both nav radios, i set both courses in the correct way (aligned on the number as stated on the fmc), both FDs are on and I catch the GS from below. I press the APP button (LOC and GS arms or FAC and GS arms) but when I press the second autopilot button (CMD B for example) the system just swap the APs. And the PFD still says "single channel".I have this behaviour since I installed the aircraft in august and all the updates (till version SP1b) didn't change the things.Any suggestions? :DThanksLorenzo Chiovaro

Norwegian Air Shuttle cockpit configuration
Thank you very much guys for these information! I will try to cantact a pilot who flies for NAX and maybe there could be one even in this forum, too. I understand that it's preddy difficult (and it's no in my ideas) to have the entire Norwegian fleet set up in my FSX with every single detail set in the correct way. But I would just to know if my settings are done well or not. :DThanksLorenzo Chiovaro

Norwegian Air Shuttle cockpit configuration
Thank you very much Bjørn.I'm quite curious to know if they have "steel or carbon barkes" and "short fiel package" or not. Quite hard to know...don't you think? Probably the only way to discover this is being able to put hands on a Norwegian 737 OM... :)Lorenzo Chiovaro

Norwegian Air Shuttle cockpit configuration
Hello everybody,I've searched in this forum and on the internet but I culd not find a definitive answer to this question. I'm looking for the exact cockpit configuration Norwegian Air Shuttle uses on their B738. I mean the "generic" configuration. I know that some of them are Wi-Fi equipped and some others no and some of them have COLLINS autopilot meanwhile others have HONEYWELL. I already "know" the "basic configuration" for them. What I cannot find is the exact setting of every feature PMDG allow us to set in this fantastic beauty.Maybe there could be also major differencies between NAX 738 a part from Wi-Fi and Autopilot but, in this case, just specify the aircraft you know about with its registration. For example... LN-NOL or LN-DYP. :Star:Just one more question about Norwegian. The actually use C.I 15 as standard (a part from some "special" flights). This CI generates a descend-speed of about 255-260kias. I know from a NAX OM dated 2008 that this descend speed is used as company procedure in real life. But it's in this way today, too? I mean...this manual is dated 2008; maybe things have changed. Anybody knows about something new about this?Thank a lot to everybody!!! :(
