  1. The transmission of the ILS-signal may be a negligible cost factor, but you also have to consider that the correct functioning of the ILS has to be checked regularly. E.g. in Zurich, Switzerland, the ILS for all runways is checked at least twice a year by means of calibration flights. Those flights are performed by a specialised company from Germany. And I bet they do not do it free of charge ... Peter Zahner (Just out of curiosity: How is this topic linked to PMDG?)
  2. Hi Colin,Are you using the latest version of Qantas-livery available on PMDGs download site?I had reported this problem earlier this year, and Paul (PMDG) e-mailed me that it had been corrected in the latest version on the server.Best regards,Peter Zahner

Hi Dave!It may be a silly question, but did you convert the repainted files into "extended bitmap"-files (i.e. by DXTBmp) for FS9 or .dds-files for FSX?I have used the paintkit (for PMDG-747-400 FS9) and did not encounter any problems.Regards,Peter Zahner
  4. Pete,Thanks for the Swiss livery! It looks great!Just a minor detail:The swiss flag on the tail was in reality not painted up to the top of the tail. There was a white stripe at the top. Have a look at www.airliners.net. Thanks for correcting! Will you do a Swissair-livery as well?Happy painting!Peter Zahner
  5. Pete, Thanks for all the great MD-11-screenshots!Are you already working on the Swissair livery? (Maybe it's already out, and I didn't look close enough in the forum ;-)Happy painting / landing!Peter Zahner
  6. Wijnand,As promised, un update on how Swissair used to pick up their MD-11s ...During the entire "construction phase" of Swissair's MD-11s, a rather large number of Swissair staff was present at Long Beach, California: a Swissair representative, responsible for all commercial questions, and a team of technicians, who watched the assembly of the aircraft and constantly "double-checked" the quality of the work done by the Douglas-technicians.Before the delivery, a so called "acceptance" was done, in which all technicians and electricians and the technical pilot of Swissair and his cockpit crew were involved. They did a couple of test flights following a very strict "protocol". When all the tests and test flights had been accomplished without any problem, the "brandnew" MD-11 was handed over from Douglas (resp. Boeing) to Swissair. The aircraft was then flown from Long Beach, CA (KLGB) to Zurich, Switzerland (LSZH). In order to "finance" the "delivery" flight, Swissair Los Angeles organised a couple of tons of cargo (i.e. asparagus, strawberries etc.). The cargo was brought to KLGB by truck from Los Angeles Intl. airport (KLAX). Passengers were never carried on these "delivery" flights, as the cabin had not yet been fitted according Swissair standard. After landing in Zurich, the new MD-11 spent another two weeks at the maintenance hangar for a "phase-in", in which, amongst other things, the cabin was "upgraded" to Swissair standard.Knowing this, you might want to take your MD-11 for a test flight across the desert first, before taking it across the Atlantic to the Netherlands ...Happy landing!Peter Zahner
  7. Wijnand,As far as I remember, Swissair picked up their MD-11s directly at the factory in Long Beach, California (KLGB) and flew them to Zurich, Switzerland (LSZH). I can give you more details later.Hope this helps for the moment to plan your delivery flight.Peter Zahner

Albert,Can't help you with the repaint for FSX - I "only" have FS9, however, just a hint regarding "fictional" repaints for Swissair: In your FS9, go into the PMDG-menu, choose "General" -> "Options" -> "Model" -> "Model Options" and disable "Show Winglets", and your fictional Swissair B-747-400 will turn into an original Swissair B-747-357! I have posted two screenshots of my Swissair-repaint (FS9) - not available for download so far.Peter
  9. Markus,by the time PMDG will release its MD-11, you might want to review your list of current MD-11-operators. I.e. right now, Transmile is struggling, and there are rumours that they are going to sell their MD-11s.Regarding the liveries of PMDG's MD-11: Can you provide a list with the liveries which will be available upon release of the MD-11?Thanks,Peter Zahner
  10. Hi Kav!I am not using FSX and was only curious to look at your screenshots. Very nice! What puzzled me was picture 1 (left ahead of wing) where I noticed that the Rolls-Royce-logos on engine 1 and 2 were shown backward. Usually the logos on the engines can be read without a mirror ;-) Is that a standard aircraft livery from PMDG?Cheers!Peter Zahner
