Comparisons to RL
same here. Many thanks for this great article. It's one of those rare moments when you find something you can't get that grin of your face.I had that when for example I discovered REX, when I first figured out what podcasts are and then found ' FSBreak' , when orbx came, and many more of those moments. For me, real life flying is out of the question, but the passion for aviation can be fueled by flightsims, spotting, and these great articles. Thanks again!!Eric

non-english win7 - no speech recognition
And I can confirm that Visulizar works!Still, I was not amused to find out in the manual that only English Win 7 is directly supported. it would be better to mention it before purchase.Greetings,Ericnow off to some flying!

non-english win7 - no speech recognition
Hi,Just downloaded the Jetstream and found out after installing I have no speech recognition on my Dutch Win 7 64-bit Home Premium.[Translated] message: "Windows Speech recognition is not available for your language."Its probably something I have to install manually, but if someone here knows how to install or setup an english version I would be grateful if you can share the knowledge.Greetings,E WijngaardenEdit: I found this in the Maddog Forum:You can only install the English language pack if using Win 7 Ultimate.Only option is: Upgrade to Ultimate, or get an English version of Win 7 Home/Pro, use XP or try Vistalizator:http://www.froggie.sk/download.htmlBest,BryanLimited options for me then, I will not upgrade to Ultimate, I don't have XP, only Vistalizar might help then..Bryan, please update the product specs, its not clear enough that an English version of WIN 7 [Premium] is required, and only Ultimate or above supports multiple languages.•Windows Speech Recognition language setting must be set to English if using XP or English - US if using Vista or Win 7.

Hydraulics and FD question
Does this mean we can't deploy the gear when there is no hydraulics?I tried to find this in the manual because last night I had some fun when I pressed Control-F1 in stead of Control F2... Yep, saw some smoke and flames, got those out, was high enough to reach an airport, but hey, no landing gear...ooops.Greetings and thank you for this wonderful add-on. I was doubtfull at first but once I got to know her, she's a favourite :) Eric, Netherlands

Outstanding review
I totally agree. If we were to review the reviews, this one would get a golden star :) It's funny, it's informative and answers most of the potential answers. Especially for the LDS drivers [i am one] a good read. thanks!Eric

737PIC review
http://www.avsim.com/pages/0206/737PIC/737PIC.htmI missed an important difference with the review: On what flightsim version has it been tested? The boxed version comes with both a FS2004 and a FSX version. I find it really makes a difference. In FSX I have many problems (FSX SP2) in FS2004, those problems don't exist.Eric W

MD-11 CDAP or FPA question
>The correct way to fly a LOC approach in the 747 is simply to>hit the LOC button instead of the APP button.Hi Xander,Thanks for the reply, I guess I just understand it all wrong. I will post in the AoA Forum (pmdg 747 training dvd) about this, because they do show you how it is done, and its done from the FAF (final approach fix) to the DA (descision altitude)Eric W

MD-11 CDAP or FPA question
Andrew, Thanks for the answer I was looking for! It worked as you explained.I am not sure what this discussion is leading to, I saw the 747 DVD from A0A and, read the Mike Ray's 767 guide. Both state / show the use of CDAP, or CDA..>>Michael said:...folks who throw around terminology without understanding what it means would be called for:) An autoland as I understand it, can only be done when circumstances require it and the runway supports it. If not, CDA or CDAP is the way to fly any other Final Approach. Correct me if am wrong. Thing is, I like to fly that way, even if it's not real, its fun to do and that's enough for me. Thanks again Andrew, greetings Eric W

MD-11 CDAP or FPA question
I am unable to find in the manuals, or just don't understand it how to fly a CDAP. (Continuous Decent Approach Profile)I guess it is named FPA (Flight Path Angle) in the manual (PT.30.1)In the 747 or 767 you can capture ILS only on autopilot and fly the CDAP with the v/s selector. When I try this on the MD-11 I always end up with either an autoland, or with a FPA but without auto-ILS guidence. Can someone explain the proper way to fly this approach in the MDA?Grettings,Eric W

Best yet!
I just finished the quick tutorial of the FS2Crew MD-11.One word: Wow!! The combination of the PMDG MD11 and the fs2crew is a master piece. This FS2crew version is well thought out and the flow is very easy. I didnt like the 747-400 version very much, but this one is very user friendly. Thaks Fs2Crew and well done!BTW, the PMDG MD-11 airplane is a true masterpiece! Performance is great, no issues at all.
