  2. Will keep that in mind. Thanks.
  3. Ok, got it. Thanks for the replies!
  4. Hi all- Ever since I first purchased the NGX, I've noticed that I am not able to input winds aloft data for every waypiont along my route. I looked through the NGX manual, but couldn't find anything that mentioned this occurance. I also talked to a friend who also flies the NGX, and he said he couldn't recall ever seeing this restriction occur when he was inputting wind data. As far as I can tell, there's no ryhme or reason as to which waypoints I can enter wind data for. At first, I thought it had something to do with the SID/STAR that I was flying, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is this normal, and if it is, could someone please explain it or refer me to a location with more information? A screenshot is attached that illustrates what I'm talking about. During this flight, I was going PAJN-PANC via CUSHI4 CUSHI MUIRR ALATY JOH FROZN2. As you can see, the FMC would only let me input winds for two waypoints on my route. Thanks, Phil Coyle
  5. Thanks Dario, I'll play around with it. I was going most of my testing at KBOS with medium-high settings. (Dense autogen and scenery. Zero AI Traffic, AA is set via Nvidia Inspector)
  6. Hi all- So I recently purchased a Dell XPS Studio 17 laptop with the following specs:i7 2820QM A 2.4 Ghz with Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz16GB DDR3 RAMNvidia 555M 3GB Video CardDual 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drives I didn't buy it for gaming, but I was secretly hoping that it would be able to run FSX pretty decently, as I had read that some laptops are able to run the game ok. After installing the game and the addons (GEX, REX, ASE, PMDG747, Level D 767...etc.) I was pretty disappointed at the performance I was getting. The FPS were in the mid-teens, and the game was completely unplayable, as it stuttered like no other. I have done a few hours worth of tuning (CFG tweaks and defrags mostly), but haven't been able to improve the performance one bit. So...the question is: will this laptop even be able to run FSX decently, or should I just give up now and not even try. By decently, I mean being able to run the Level D 767 or PMDG 747 in the high-teens FPS wise with no stuttering, which I'm not even close to right now. I have all my FSX stuff stored on one hard drive, and everything else stored on the other. I thought that this would help performance-wise, but clearly it hasn't done anything for me in this case. Also,, since Dell ships its laptops with all sorts of un-needed garbage on them, I was considering wiping the OS and starting anew, but I don't want to undergo that if this laptop can't run FSX anyway. Any advice would be appreciated.-Phil
  7. Hi all-So after working through the ins and outs of Squawkbox...which is probably the most un-intuitive program ever, with the worst documentation ever, I've discovered that the program kills my anti-aliasing when FSX is in full screen mode. This happens both when I run Squawkbox from within or FSX, or from Windows. I did some Googling, and it seems that the issue is caused by Nvidia video cards, which I have. I tried to use the Nvidia Control Panel to override the default FSX anti-aliasing settings, but that didn't work. That wasn't surprising, since the Control Panel has never been able to override FSX settings anyway.I then tried downloading nHancer to override the anti-aliasing settings. I used the program before in the past, but when I tried today, it wasn't working. I was just getting the splash screen, and then the program would quit. The main window never opened. I did some Googling on this, and apparently the issue has to do with the new set of Nvidia drivers, which I also have. I'm not planning to roll back the driver, as I get good performance with the current one.So...with Nvidia Control Panel out, and nHancer out, is there any way to get rid of this issue? Thanks,Phil
  8. I agree 100% with the above post. CS has problems with the fundamentals of aircraft building, which is getting it to fly well. I don't care how good their eye candy and functionality is, if the autopilot can't fly the dang plane, what's the point? As for the post about fuel planning, I can't lend any advice, since I haven't been able to actually get the point where I can actually complete flights in the airplane.
  9. If you didn't install FSUIPC on your system by yourself, then you don't have it, as no addon automatically installs it for you. You can get it here: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlThe most recent version is 4.53 (at the top). You follow the installation instructions just as you would with any other program. When it prompts you for a registration key, just click cancel, the window will disappear, and your installation is done. (The registration key is only for the payware version of FSUIPC, which you don't need). If you do have FSUIPC installed, then you will find the GUI in the FSX Alt Menu under 'Addons.' You will get a window telling you which version you have installed. As for what you do with FSUIPC, that answer to that is (basically) nothing. FSUIPC is a module that allows 3rd Party Programs to interact with FSX. If you really want to do something with it, then you can try changing the few options that are given to you in the FSUIPC GUI, but I have seen they have little effect on my CS757. You have very few options to change because you only have the freeware version, and again, the payware version is not required.I hope this answers your questions.-Phil
  10. Cessna 402 :( I know it hasn't been mentioned, but that's my wish.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I will look around for the UAL and AAl liveries as suggested.dbw1 - The Autopilot intercept is no problem, and my intercept angles are always really shallow. It only overshoots with the heading select mode, or with V/S mode for the altitude captures. However, after I shooting a few approaches, I have noticed that the airplane stops tracking the glide slope on about a 5 mile final. The localizer is no problem, but I always end up having to disconnect the autopilot and hand fly the last few miles of the approach - no problem on a good day, but that's a problem in IFR conditions obviously.PPSFA - A colleague of mine talked to Pete Dowson, and he didn't seem to know to much about the issue, and didn't have any ideas, but I'll try and older version of FSUIPC that you suggested, it can't hurt.trisager - Thanks for the tip, I'll try the AP disconnect.
  12. Hi all-I bought the CS757 during their sale, and am having ups and downs with it. I first experienced the side to side violent rocking phenomenon, but after uninstalling, and then reinstalling FSUIPC (the most recent version) it has appeared to stop; however, I have not done enough testing to confirm this. I was interested in trying an older version of FSUIPC, but I was unsure of what version to use, or where to find one, as Pete Dowson's site only appears to have the most recent version. Could someone please advise on this? Also, when using the autopilot, I have noticed that it overshoots any selected heading or altitude by a fair amount (30 degrees in some cases). Has anybody else experienced this? So far, this appears unrelated to FSUIPC, but as I said earlier, I need to do more testing to confirm.Lastly, does anybody know of a decent American or United Airlines (NC) repaint for the 757? The files that come up here on Avsim can't be downloaded. I presume they were lost in the crash. Thanks, Phil
  13. Hi all-I went through the dreaded reinstall of FSX yesterday, but was stopped after I attempted to install Acceleration. The simple issue is that I can't activate the product because I never get the activation screen that appears during the FSX loading screen the first time after installing Acceleration. Has anybody had this issue before? Or is there a way to manually get that screen to appear? I am running Vista, and my system specs are in my signature. Thanks, Ferrari
  14. Hello,I have had the PMDG 747X for a while, and only recently an issue has arisen with this product.A few days ago I altered the VC gauge refresh rates for the 747 for better performance. Since then, all of my aircraft gauges have frozen up at various times during my flight. Once it was just before touchdown, another time I was on approach, and another time I was at cruise. My gauges simply freeze up, and no longer function as they should. On one occasion, I noticed that I could no longer change any switches or dials at all (i.e. the light switches on the overhead). One of these instances was followed by an Out of Memory error, however, I don't understand how this is possible, because I have flown the PMDG in excess of 10 hours straight, with no issues, yet, I got an OOM error after just 20 minutes in the air. Also, today, I loaded up the PMDG, and I got an error message saying: Gauge: no loading gaugeError: Panel Background (1024) bitmap not found:"SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG747-400\panel.VC\747.CDU.bmp"I went to the location specified, and sure enough, the bitmap was missing. However, even with the missing file, I started a flight just for kicks, and the panel background appeared just as it should, and all appeared normal. So...I tried to do an complete uninstall and reinstall of the PMDG 747X, and that didn't work. So...I tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of FSX, and that didn't work either! I'm really stumped on this one, especially why everything is suddenly going haywire on me after almost a year of no problems. The only software change I have done recently was upgrade to REX 2.0, but I believe that I have eliminated REX as a problem. After reinstalling FSX, I tried the PMDG 747 without REX, and I still am getting these errors.I am running the PMDG 747X on FSX+Acceleration with Windows Vista. My computer specs are in my signature. Thanks, Ferrari
  15. Thanks for the help guys. I have my processor running at 3.0Ghz, but one question.I am trying to minimize the vCore, as my processor is putting out just about 2-3 degrees more than I want while running FSX. My problem is that I can't input the voltage by typing in a custom number, they are increments. Right now, the processor is at 1.28 volts, and the next step down, 1.2625 volts, generates errors while doing a stress test. So, what can I do to take down the temperature a little? Is there any other way to take off about 2-3 degrees of heat from the processor? Thanks.
