  1. I seem to have fixed the problem with the GROUND_ROLL sound reduction. Then I remembered I had the Environment sounds up to 49..( I had been sitting at Duxford listening to the planes.) I'm not getting the noise sitting now. I'm not sure why the GROUND_ROLL sound would be activated while sitting with the engines off...maybe a bug..I remembered the environment sounds being up when I started lowering the wind sound..I figured I didn't need to mess with those.I haven't heard anything from the developer, yet. He's probably a busy person. Thanks for the tip on the great aircraft, and airport!
  2. Hello Ian & everyone,I have contacted the developer and waiting on a reply. In the meantime I tried a search for another sound set, and have came up empty on this model..so far.I did find some info on the sound set ... The min volume of the ground roll sounds are set a bit high so they dont shut down properly.Open the sound.cfg (located in the sound folder within the FIAT CR-42 FALCO_COMMON folder)Scroll down to [GROUND_ROLL] and change/lower the minimum volume to something like 6000.I actually changed both min and max for myself, but only the min volume change is necessary.[GROUND_ROLL]filename=touchcdminimum_volume=6000 ///26000maximum_volume=10000 //32768minimum_speed= 10maximum_speed= 60minimum_rate=0.8maximum_rate=1.6link=GROUND_ROLL2I tried doing that and the thud disappeared, except it got too loud, (for my taste) while taking off.I lowered it again to this...[GROUND_ROLL]filename=touchcdminimum_volume=3000maximum_volume=7000The thud sound is completely gone now.I'm playing around with the [WIND_SOUND]filename = wind_opencockpit.wavnow. I'm attempting to get a lower wind sound when I fly.I didn't think the "thud" sound was coming from the Ground_Roll setting since I got it at a stand still...but apparently I was wrong.I'll let you know what the developer says if he contacts me. If you want the link to the info I found IM me and I'll send it to you.I'm not sure if I am suppose to post links in here or not!I hope this helps someone else! The plane flies very well!
  3. Thanks for the reply Ian.The "Kerchunk" or "thud", ( sounds like someone beating on the fuselage with a baseball bat), is aggravating!I'll contact the developer, like you suggested, and see if they reply! I'll let you know.If not I'll look for another sound set for the aircraft.
  4. I downloaded the CR42 and have flown it a short distance. It seems like a very good Aircraft. I seem to have a slight problem I can't figure out, and was hoping you could tell me what I need to do. I was trying to start the Aircraft following the instructions, but even before I try and start it I am getting a "thud" sound that speeds up as I take off. It stops once I am in flight. I suppose I am quite ignorant on the proper starting procedure and doing something wrong. I usually have the aircraft started automatically. Can you tell me how I can stop the "thud" sound when sitting on the ground? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  5. Thanks Ian!I'll give the CR42 a try. Always love good Aircraft.I agree with all you said. There is allot of good "freeware" out there that doesn't get enough recognition!
  6. Excellent Aircraft, and Airport! No drops in FPS to speak of really! Thanks you for the tip!
  7. Thanks for the textures acmech. They look good. I look forward to seeing the vc texture update you are working on. Thanks for pointing out this plane too! I would have passed this one by had you not mentioned it! Happy New Years!
  8. Thanks for this bit of info Opa!
  9. Hi Mike & Opa, I went ahead and put the 266.58 driver back in.I deleted the Nhancer before using the Nvidia Inspector.I downloaded the newest version of Nvidia Inspector I found,NVIDIA Inspector 1.9.5.5 instead of the one posted on the page Opa recommended.I set all the settings as described on the page, http://www.simforums...topic36586.html .I see no noticeable difference. Everything seems exactly the same.So I'd say either way is about the same...on my computer anyway.Thank you both for taking the time to post all the great info! :(
  10. Hi Mike, I didn't think FS used the OpenGl settings but wasn't sure.I'll be leaving the settings alone for now.I find myself wondering how much of an improvement I may or may not get with Nvidia Inspector and the new drivers I have.I suppose at some point I'm going to try that route also.I'll come back and let you know what the difference is. It won't be today though..lol Thanks for taking the time to post all the good info :(
  11. Hi Opa,I like to play with FS settings to see what improvements I can make, So I'll be trying this at some point.I bookmarked the page for future use.. Thanks for taking the time to post this info :(
  12. Hi Mike,I have the driver, and Nhancer settings you suggest applied and the FS works fine.I noticed the OpenGL from the Compatibility page today and was wondering about these settings? The settings below are the ones that were applied by default.Should I change any of these settings?I've searched and didn't find anything, so I thought I'd ask you,or anyone for advice. Thanks :(
  13. Hi Mike,Thanks for the heads -up on the Nvidia Inspector Program. The results I'm getting with the 197.45 drivers & Nhancer are good enough to satisfy my needs.I'll check out what you suggested, but I believe I'm just going to play with a few settings to get FS working exactly like I want.I spent countless hours, with my old card, getting it where I wanted.I really hate doing that again.I'd rather be taking a flight somewhere! Thanks for your advice. Don :(
  14. Hi MikeI downloaded the correct version of 197.45 drivers last night.I installed them, and reinstalled Nhancer. There is a definite improvement. The stutters are still there, but negligible at this point. No shimmering to speak of.I'm satisfied with this setup. Just need to play with settings a little to get rid of all the stutters.I do notice a drop in the FPS. Nothing really to be concerned with and I'm sure some setting changes will correct the drop.I'll check out the thread you posted. Thanks for all your help! Don :(
  15. Mike thanks for taking the time to post the info.I downloaded the 197.45 driver, unfortunately I downloaded one that is only compatible with windows Vista.I see there is one available for windows xp.My processor is a AMD Athlon 64, but my OS is 32 bit.I had a 182.50 driver so I installed that instead, for now.The shimmering is gone but I've got a bad case of the stutters when turning.I've heard of the Nvidia Inspector Program. It works with the 266.58 driver huh?Going to tackle it again tomorrow or this weekend. Not sure which way to go now. Update to the 197.45 driver for xp, or try the Nvidia Inspector with the 266.58?Any advice appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to post guys. It gives me something to work with anyway. :(
