Joe, I just recently uninstalled my FSX, which was performing as you say excellent. The difference is best described by how smooth the sim runs vs FSX. I'd suggest if you have enough hd space on a separate drive. Install P3d there and give it a go. First check with all your add ons for p3d installers. OBRX as far as i know is pretty much up to date. This will allow you to best judge by yourself. You can always get your money back if you don't like p3d. I'd also suggest not to install or try to install anything on p3d, unless you have verified it works. I have found it is best to wait for the developer to update their installers than screwing around with files. The avsim community is also very helpful. Sincerely, Edgar

Hello Terry, I noticed a small hit on performance when I installed the old megascenery Las Vegas Boxed version. I did not allow it to modify the cfg file though. I think it adds Fiber Frame and some other tweaks. Right now I love the performance without any photo real, but the California and Nevada mountains look so much better with photo scenery. Thanks. Hi All! Does of you with megascenery installed. Do you allow the installer to add the edits to the cfg file? Do you even need those edits in P3D 3.1? What are the best settings for Photo real? In FSX, I used photo real for many areas. I am only going to use photo real for areas with lots of mountains in P3D. I will let GEX take care of the flat areas. Thank you. Edgar Corripio

Excellent points! I used to use nothing but photo scenery. I have about 300 gigs of it. When I switched to P3D, I just decided to do with out it. Except for the Hawaiian islands. Photo real makes the experience so much more realistic as jetliner pilot. However as you get close to the ground specially on flat areas, it really sucks. I guess, I will save up and buy the GEX P3D. I do like the their textures a bit more. It's expensive and I wish they offered some coupon or small discount for current customers. I just completed a flight from KLAX-KDEN. Hi, I am contemplating the purchase of FTX global vs GEX P3D. For FSX I own all the GEX regions as well as some of the UTX versions. I was very happy with them. But since saying bye bye to FSX, I am now a bit concerned about FTX Global giving me poor performance on my payware airport ad-dons. FTX is on Sale right now! and GEX is basically 130 bucks. Which is a greater expense but if it is worth it. Oh well. I own all the FSDT, Flytampa and Flightbeam airports. Any one here have them along with FTX? I have seen some videos about FTX global and I must say, I am very tempted to buy. My P3D v3.1 is running perfectly. Thank you all in advance. Sincerely, Edgar Corripio.

Rich, I think you are correct. it is very time consuming to try to get this to work. My sim is working perfectly as it is and I just miss the AI planes. Maybe I'll just buy MT6 even though their models suck compared to UT2 and the flight plans... I think MT6 works with P3D from the installer right? Thank you both for trying. Rich, Maybe because I have all the AI settings to zero in the set-up screen for Prepar3d. It does not add those lines. Rich, I did use the tool. But since it was not working even with the tool. I uninstalled it. I checked for entries made by tool, but i could not see any. I've tried Rich's instructions but: 1) I did this just as per this instructions. Din not work, so I also tried the youtube video that says to copy this file also into your simulator main folder. Still does not work... 2) I found my cfg. file. But does it matter where in the cfg files this goes? I tried under [MAIN] with no results. 3) I've tried this just as it is with no luck. I've so tried with the letter P instead of C. since my simulator is installed in its own drive. (My last post put a little emoticon instead of my letter for my drive) I really have been trying for several hours to make this work. I've looked all over in several forums and youtube videos. Stephen and Cheryl, Thank you for the prompt responses, I use Ultimate Traffic 2 for my AI with no GA at all. I will try to see if setting the cloud coverage somewhere in between can be a happy medium for me. I will also try with lower texture resolutions. My performance is not really bad I got no stutters but I can see a small drop in FPS. I did not experience any S turns but my flights were short, I will do some longer flights this weekend with my Level D 767. Sincerely Edgar

Opus Team, So yesterday while staring out my office window at work I could not wait to go home and fly my NGX. The weather was perfect, Low visibility and rain! I live about 60 miles north of LAX. Got home installed the latest Opus beta and fired fsx, the weather was perfect at LAX just like it was outside, I took off and started my climb. Everything was perfect till about 30000 feet, where the low cloud cover could be seen as a patch. I know you have recommended increasing the cloud coverage to 110 miles but the problem with that is. I run a 30" DELL ultra-sharp monitor and by increasing the coverage I take a hit on performance. I played with a lot of settings last night, decreased AI traffic from 100% to 80%. This weekend I will experiment more at different locations but I must say I loved the weather into my approach to SFO. It was probably the best low cloud cover I have seen in fsx. Another thing I like about Opus is the simplicity of the program 18Mb??? No textures but that’s okay. I love the fact that you just click a few boxes and that’s it. I use REX (I love REX they are a great company) for the textures and run them at 4096. I've been using AS for the longest time and I am almost convinced it will be uninstalled if the SP2 does not make any real improvements. Cheryl do you guys fly any jetliners by any chance? If so what settings do you use in FSX and OPUS? Should I try lower cloud resolutions? Any ways I will keep trying hoping to find a happy medium. Sincerely Edgar

Cheryl, Thank you so much for the response. Opusfsx is definitely a program with a big future, I love the weather in the low altitudes but as I got closer to my cruising altitude it was not horizon to horizon and the sudden cloud change killed the realism it was providing at the low altitudes. I can only imagine the amount of work you guys have put into Opus WOW!!! I will definitely buy it again if you can replicate the horizon to horizon weather at the jetliners cruising altitudes. My flight last night was from KLAX to KSFO around 4PM VTU5 RZS J501 BSR BSR2 was my flight plan cruising at 36000. The weather at LAX was great very realistic the troubles started at around 20000. The weather would look great and then it would change completely and it was not horizon to horizon as you could see gaps in-between (The cloud cover would disappear and then reappear). I would love to see any fellow NGX pilot provide a list of the options used on his system while using OPUSFSX. Any ways, thanks gain. Sincerely Edgar

Okay, Today I submitted a tickect through Flight1 for a refund since I did not like the way the weather was changing from looking good to completly different. I only fly jetliners and I asked for some help before from any one running this software with similar planes. Only one person responded!!! I guess I'll just wait till the product is a bit more settled with the community. It would be nice if the developers posted some type of options guide for people with planes like the NGX so that you could get the best results possible. Sincerely Edgar

I only fly Airliners (NGX,Level-D, 747) is there any one here who maybe flies the same aircraft? And maybe they can share their OPUS and or FSUIPC settings? I must say I currently own REX, ASE, AS2012 and FEX and I am willing to spend another 50 bucks in hopes of a good weather simulation. Thanks in advance, Edgar

Hello, Thank you again guys for all the great tips. I deleted my Cfg and used the ******* tool and I did a test flight from KLAX to KSFO and it was very smooth no problems at all. The Gray textures as explained by Ryan are not a problem any more. I also moved the autogen slider down to Dense instead of extremly dense. I do play other Games ( Supreme commander, World of Tanks, Diablo3, SF3) and my card has been performing well in all of them. I am going to oc the cpu first and then I might get a new card either the 580 or the 680, it might be a good thing to wait any ways. Also Ryan thank you much for the fast support of the extended download service " best 4.99 I have ever spent". I will post back once I oc my Cpu with the results of the OC. Thank you Sincerely Edgar
