  1. If you can configure it like my UTX, then try disabeling everything it offers.

Reduce FSX Autogen and Scenery complexity to normal and turn AI off as I did in my example above.

    Then test.

    Good?

Ok then start adding things back in one by one untill you find what eats up your VAS.

As said above, I flew from Dzwewiecki KJFK to Fly Tampa Vienna with OPUS FSX live weather UTX and GEX and not once more than 2.5GB of VAS used.......that is not bad ;-)

You have turned on highways, railroads, large water bodys ,and the various landclasses but mine is all off! except for water features. How much VAS do you have with T7 when landing at EGLL with Uk2000?

  2. Can it also be that the weather changed when he got there? He said he had little specks on long range, but when he reduced the range it turned a lot bigger. Maybe it took some time to get there and the precipitation stopped? Just an idea....

The bad weather was like a minute away so it could not change in an instant.

It's not a bug, as you got closer to the cloud the radar beam went over the top of the major water content of the cloud, while the cloud may still be directly in front of you and maybe even above you, that part of the cloud probably doesn't have enough for the radar to reflect off, still you must be careful especially if it is a thunderstorm, as that part of the could will have hail (thanks to ASN) , and that's something the radar will not detect

So lowering tilt would have helped? I did it as well did not seem to help much.

BTW I am using ASN Sp1 Beta ,

  3. Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make something sure on which I have doubt.

On my PMDG T7 screen I saw red and yellow colors  ND.. Tiny but once reduced range it went bigger(Ofcourse) .

However, When I approach them which I did today to test it out it began to shed off on the WXR ND screen it first turned green and almost dissapeared. I was using Auto -2A at cruise . even tried 0M still it was dissapeared from screen.

So my question is is this a bug or a real world thingy because that cloud was just 1 minute away so it also cannot be that it went off by the time I reached...

Is it a bug? If its not a bug than why does that happen?

  4. Do you have sceneries like VFR London or New York???? Trust me after I disabled these sceneries my VAS dropped by at least 1GB. PMDG have stated the VAS load of the 777,(800k) If we have heavy sceneries all over, yet we wont be flying anywhere near them, whats the point in them being enabled???. Another "killer" of VAS is ANY Night Environment product, they state in the user manual to disable, even during the day as FSX "reads" the scenery even in the day. I for one am testament to the amount of VAS NE uses. As stated a few posts back Scenery Config Editor was my saviour if you wanna fly the 777.

No I use FTXG+Vector(Disabled most of the things in its config).

  5. OOM ..after arrival at EGLL UK2000 .

    LOD_RAD is 4.5xxxxx

    TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD 2048/1024 <- Makes no difference

Have been trying every possible things past more than 6 months but no luck.

sometimes I wonder.. Should we further invest into this 8 years old sim? and should developers keep on developing on one of the most unstable software in the world probably in which even they are limited.

  6. It does run good. Took a while for the adjustments to P3d to get it to run good. I could not believe that I needed to drop the sliders down and I also could not use REX Essentials for the clouds, REX would bring the FPS down around 12-16 with plenty of micro and some large stutters. Using the default and also some of the Global cloud options it will run very smooth in the 20's and 30's. Clear sky's run 35+.

This next pic has the weather set at Building Storms and this runs in the low 20's until the rain starts and then drops to around 19-20 which is still decent. It is clear as it can be, I am happy with the monitor and I will be happier when I go from the GTX780 to a Titan.

    iogt4k.jpg

with a card like 780 you are getting such a low FPS? Damn how people call it better performing version? I get 20 on PMDG777s with stunning visuals in FSX :o & dense areas/Addons

  7. If you are learning about aviation and flight procedures, my guess is you qualify for the academic version.

If you intend to eventually profit from making addons for it, you require the professional version

Na I will require Academic version only than.. Most of them normal FSX type users use this only?

  8. Hi,

By default FSX uses a haze layer (with varying levels of opacity based on surface visibility) to depict these conditions (the transition from a lower surface visibility to a higher upper visibility). Unfortunately, this haze layer has some very significant drawbacks (it follows the aircraft, it intersects with mountains in a very ugly way etc). That's the reason ASN (and I assume other weather engines) give the option to disable it (this is the default behavior in ASN).

This leaves however these hazy conditions depicted as is shown in your screenshots. We acknowledge that this solution is however not optimal. The best way of solving this is by using the volumetric fog (only present in P3D however). For fsx we've been working towards improving the whole haze depiction (in fact the related changes have already been implemented in ASN and are scheduled to be part of the upcoming SP1).

Thanks team , You guys made things possible that weren't possible before! Hope to see this thing also get polished :)

  9. Well that pretty much proves Nvidia has a problem. They closed my case I had with them because I got mine working on the later release 335.23. But I know of another person in the ORBX forum having the same issue.I can't speak to your PAPI lights issue. I'm using Steve's DX10Fixer and all of my PAPI lights that I use are working. If they worked on 332.21 before you upgraded, they should work now. Unless it's a new card that came with a later release driver.

I realized this used to happen every time.. Any settings that I need to look at on the Fixer?

    Thanks!

  10. You're on 335.23. I think you can still get the 332.21 driver off of Nvidia to test with. If it doesn't fix the problem, you can always go  back to 335.23. After upgrading off of 332.21, I would get a 4 to 5 second pause. Just as if I hit the pause key. This won't fix stuttering though. I had a case open with Nvidia on the issue but they couldn't duplicate it. I didn't figure they would.

Downgrading to that driver fixed the problem for me so far but another problem occurs while landing at night I can't See PAPI lights properly? they don't glow.

  11. Can

Your rig is a pretty top end system, OK it's not the latest CPU, but the difference by upgrading will be minimal IMO. I run a SB 2500 @ 4.6Ghz and most of the time I am very happy. I think the problem with a lot of us is that we all persue perfection with FSX and that just ain't gonna happen! Upgrading won't get rid of blurries, it won't get rid of stutters or prevent autogen popping, it won't stop cloud popping in every scenario, upgrading will reduce these issues in some scenarios. If you were going to upgrade from a rig running at 3.2ghz with a GTX280 to your proposed computer then the upgrade would prove an enormous difference. But as we upgrade from higher end machines then the whole upgrading process becomes a case of diminishing returns.

FSX is all about balance, not necessarily between sliders and cfg but just as much about our own expectations!

Can SMPS be the problem mine is average 700Watt PSU and of an Average company.

  12. Your system is similar to mine yet FSX is running beautifully. The main difference of course, is that I am running FSX on a dedicated SSD and Win7 on another dedicated SSD. Some negligible differences is my 2700K OC'ed to 4.6Ghz, but that should make no percievable difference.

Also you are running only a 19" monitor with a GTX680 is a more than capable card.

You must rain in your expectations of achieving 30 locked in "all" scenarios, particularly with PMDG, FSDT, and REX all running simultaneously, in overcast conditions, for example. It's just not always going to happen.

I have fallen out of favor with the whole "30" locked adaptive V-sync info. I internally lock at 45 if necessary, but generally I leave it at unlimited most of the time and have better results. In most scenerios I can achieve 30+, but it will dip in the 20's and maybe lower around EHAM, KSEA, etc, depending on weather conditions and traffic.

Your computer is more than capable, so unless there is a hardware issue, or background processes, or poorly configured FSX, you should be able to match my performance.

Thanks for info . There are no hardware related issues or processes as I dont have much running and as far as config goes.. I don't know what not I have tried.. BTW I also use FTXG and Vector .May be the 4770k would not rain my expectations lol?!

  13. Hey Everyone,

I am another victim of Low FPS  despite a Good computer. I have tried all the tweaks(From Kostas to JesesFsx)but with airports like ORBXs,PMDG and REX.. FPS goes below to 20 or so and the experience is ruined. So I decided to leave FSX for quite a while thinking no hardware can get it working smoothly & in the end money will be wasted but one of my friend got my interest when he reported his FPS with 4770k is fantastic..

So I got back to here to ask my sim experts.. Would replacing 2600k to 4770k Change things for me in FSX? This will be my final investment as I cant afford more .

Do you guys recommend any changes? Except for Graphic card?

Please guide me to achieve atleast 30FPS locked at all scenaraios.(PMDG,FSDT REX etc)

Here is my current Specification of PC.
