  1. After getting my ATP I've used 0 of the equations required. Through theory of flight I used to be able to calculate nearly everything by memory but once you start flying the only thing we care about is if we are starting our descent so it is a nice stable 1500 fpm descent.

That is right but DGCA and JAA are different from FAA .However they are co-related (ofcourse) but much more complex and detailed

  2. OF are irrelevant here and, anyway, 2OC = 3.6OF - not 3.5OF

There are 3.28083 feet / metre so the relationship is simply

    6.5OC / 1000m = (6.5 / 3.28083) OC / 1000ft = 1.9812OC / 1000ft.

We take the approx value in all these case so to make calculations easier. On some books you will read value a change by few points so it's considered the same.

Example on some books you will see percentage of Carbon dioxide to be 0.03% and on some 0.05%. It varies but since it is in a very small amount it is considered the same

  3. I don't have a CPL, so waiting for a real CPL to answer, I'll give mine:

    Q.1 ISA SL temperature is 15C. In this case, temperature at SL will be: 5 + (6.5 x 2) = 18C, so that makes: 18-15 = +3C ISA deviation.

Q.2 I don't know if this is the correct answer, maybe not. However, ISA atmosphere has constant temperature above 11km. So, in this case you'll have -60C at 11km, and -60 + (6.5 x 11) = 11.5C at SL, so that makes: 11.5-15 = -3.5C ISA deviation.

I think that is right too but check my method

Ans.1) The formula for Finding ISA Deviation is = Actual Temperature - ISA Temp.

We know the Actual temperature that is 5*C but we don't know the ISA temp.

    We also know that

ISA at Sea level is +15*C with increase in altitude temp reduces at rate of 6.5*C/1km

    So ISA Temp for 2 km will be 15-6.5*2=15-13 ... = 2*C

So now I know the ISA temprature I will simply use ISA dev formula = Actual Temp(Given 5*C) - ISA temp(2*C)= 3*C

  4. Heys guys,

I have come up with few questions

Q.1 Temperature at 2KM is 5*C what is ISA deviation ? Hint(Actual - ISA) Given that temperature falls 6.5*C/1KM while going up.

Q.2 In actual atmosphere temp at 19KM is -60*C. Find ISA Deviation?Given that temperature falls 6.5*C/1KM while going up.

Also give reasons/proof for your answerers..

BTW these are real type Exam questions for CPL

  5. Sidh, could you please post your ENB settings.

    Thanks!

Keep in mind, that all those settings are very tied to your monitor settings, I also use a programm called darkfix, which is a tool where you can set your monitor settings. I use a profile for daylight flights and one profile for nighttime flights. I guess you will have to try for yourself.

With the above settings the bloom effect is a little strong, on the wings for example you loose details, if you dont like it just go a notch or two back.

    McDan out

Thanks for the settings. I tried using them and Enviroment looks great but the ground textures are very blurred with it.. So a no go for me.. but it's fantastic otherwise . Thanks

  7. I guess you never really worked with FXAA...

I dont use the AA in FXAA, all I use is bloom and some other settings. (I am not near my FSX PC otherwise I would post my settings) That is the reason I think FXAA is great, very easy to set up and easy to try diffrent settings. I get the same effect as with ENB but never had a singel crash or blackscreen event.....and yes I do enjoy it....

Please tell me does it have realistic night as well? Unlike EBB u cant see anything in cockpit neither outside! Please post your settings if it is

    Thanks :)

  8. Keep in mind that some of those youtube video are recorded at 1/2 speed then edited to make them look smoother. Not saying that is the case in his, but its possible.

Having said that, he's running almost the same rig as mine, same CPU and same GPU, although I have faster RAM and a different mobo, but when I am flying the NGX or T7 I get the same smoothness and visual quality as him.

In your case you have a similar system to my rig and his, so there shouldn't be any reason your not getting good performance.

Why dont you post your FSX.cfg and a screen shot of your Inspector settings so we can take a look at your settings. Maybe some suggestions could be made that will help you get to where he and I both are in regards to performance. It shouldn't really be that difficult for you to get 25+ FPS and a smooth ride.

If you refer my  this thread I have posted .. you can check it...

I will still attatch my FSX cfg.

Nvidia settings are as per nick. Nothing else

  9. Hello,

I was wondering for all those of you with Ultra high end PCs getting 30 FPS locked with AI Traffic,Addon Sceneries,Dense REX weather and NGX for suppose..

The main reason I am asking is that everytime I get a new pc I get a new Hope that it will run great now and in the end It lags at major airports, Also what not tweak that I have used to make to make it smooth but came to conclusion that it does not matter.

So now I am starting to believe that getting smooth FPS(WITH ALL ADDONS) is nothing more but  a myth..As Fsx sits on old technology.

I doubt if I upgrade to 4770K or GTX 7 series I will get not much better FPS. I remember few months back when People used to say get i7 2600k series and its smooth as anything but No..

Low FPS -  Simulation experience ruined for me .

So smooth FSX it's really a myth? FSX can never run smooth on any system because it's not optimized for latest technology.? One should think thousand times before spending a lot of money for FSX system.

  10. While I run in fullscreen, my cfg had the following entries:

    ForceFullScreenVSync=0

    ForceWindowedVSync=1

I removed both of those but left vsync on in Inspector. I use ENB.

Results? Still trivially easy to cause FSX to crash by alt-entering. At FS Dreamteam's JFK and with the PMDG 777 it only took one attempt. At Flightbeam's KSFO it took two.

It's a shame--I was really hoping this might work!

    James

James,  Use simple 3 tweaks in CFG mainly HIghmem, Bufferpools and Widescreen..Check again with these 3 tweaks Or check my CFG that I attached in above post & report back ..

I was once in your boat!

  11. I have given up on both ENB and sweetfx due to these crashes. I'd rather have vsync turned on. I did not have the vsync entries in the fsx.cfg by the way.

Try to do it with turning it off and see if you get crash again. This thing surely works , I was in your boat once!

    This sounds interesting.

I'll remain in a holding pattern at this time.  I use ENB, I never ever have any issues or crashes.  I have vsync on at 1/2 framerate as well.  When I tried to use SweetFX I continually have CTD. So removed Sweet and have gone with ENB.

So, if this effect is true it doen't explain why I have no issues with ENB however it might be very useful to have someone continue to test this out further.

ENB , Sweet FX and shade are different. Some people get more ctds with ENB than Sweetfx and Vice versa(I used to get more with ENB).

Use Vsync of nvidia inspector without adding in FSX cfg[then use Sweetfx]. And let me know

I just competed 8 hour flight in T777 with countless number of Minimise and maximise of fullscreen without an issue. Before I could not even think of a flight with Default Cessna !

In case any one wants to check my CFGs

  12. Alright guys,

I have got a good news for all sweetFx, ENB users who left using it because of crashes ...

I tried to discover all the possible causes behind it and came to a conclusion.

The main cause of your ENB and Sweetfx crashes is Nvidia Inspector's Vsync settings. - Just turn it off.

    1z6rrkp.jpg

Do not use Vsync Tweak of Fullscreen and windowed mode in FSX cfg. It might give you smoothness(partially) but will cause the crash.

I  never ever imagined that I could fly with ENB or Sweetfx specially long hauls but I have been doing almost all the flights on them without a single Crash.

Note I Use Full screen mode. Please test if you use windowed mode. However I suppose there would be no problem with it..

    Kindly test and report back.

    Good luck!
