  1. Hey pstrub, thank you! That's what is was! I didn't even notice the direct GPU hookup when I originally plugged everything in, and I missed it. What a relief! Now this should run the way it's supposed to.
  2. Thanks JYW 😄. I should have also said I am using Windows 11 and there is no Cortana search box that I can find. My Community folder is empty.
  3. Recently bought a new desktop with the following: Ryzen 9 9900X 12 core processor, 64gb RAM, Radeon RX 9070 XT (16gb) GPU I downloaded the store version and did the Deluxe and Premium updates. But now when I try to load the program I get the opening screen and about 8-10 seconds it turns black and sticks there. I'm wondering if when I downloaded the AMD Adrenalin software there was something I didn't do, or is this something else? I have looked all over the internet but all I get from all the suggestions is more confused. Can anyone help me? Sorry, I have the MSFS 2020.
  4. I hope this is the right place for this question...I'm using MSFS 2020 and trying to bind my Honeycomb Bravo Flaps lever for twin or 4 engine jet. Every instruction I can find says to bind the Flaps Lever to Flaps Axis (-100 to 100%) My Control Panel does not have this setting. It only has 0 to 100% and Flaps Axis. Neither of these work. Can someone tell me how to do this? ThankYou
  5. Thanks for replying. The only thing in my Add-on folder is Active Sky, and Traffic Global. I think the reason is that I installed P3Dv4, and both of those in my SSD, which is my C Drive. The SSD is only 512gb, which is why I want all the Scenery and Aircraft files in the D Drive. (2tb)
  6. Hello everyone. I know this is an old thread, but I have just a quick question about scenery files which have been installed outside of P3D. (P3D Add-on Scenery folder in my D Drive) Where are the scenery.cfg files now stored? I checked IN C:\users, but they're not there. I have a Scenery file (Reno) that I installed to P3D4 using the Lorby Add-on Organizer. I uninstalled with this also, but it still shows in my airports. Thanks
  7. ok, I've got the aircraft (thanks 777) now just a couple more questions: Does the FS9 have to be in a separate folder in SimObjects? I read somewhere that you can't have FS9 and FSX in the same place. Also, Where is the "title" information contained in config? I don't have all the aircraft the flightplan calls for and am trying to rename some that I do have.
  8. Not sure where to find the cfg file for aifp??? I have searched avsim but am wondering if I can install FS9 aircraft?
  9. Does anyone know where I can find some Great Lakes Aviation AI Aircraft? I have been looking all over the net with little results. I downloaded an AI flight plan for this and attempted to install it using AIFP but I don't have most of the aircraft it needs.
  10. Thanks Skelsey. Guess I've got to read up on each airliner, assuming the FSX models are made to fly the same as real ones. Darrinward777, I'll give these a look. I worked as an electronics tech for the FAA. (32 years) I understand ILS's from the ground as I maintained them for years but never had the opportunity to see them from the aircraft side.
  11. I kinda figured my question about the ILS would be hard to answer. Just took a shot Thanks for the tutorial on IAS VS TAS. I guess I never really thought about the difference. If you're flying IAS, how do you know if your landing speed is too high (or too low)?
  12. Ok, I just flew an approach and it's apparent I was landing with my speed too high. I do have a couple of questions that may or may not be related: 1. Should my airspeed in the settings menu be set for true or indicated? This seems to make a big difference. 2. In the panels I have (and several others I have tried) I can't figure out how to get my ILS display to show so that I know when it is captured. All I seem to be able to select is either arc or rose and the ILS loc and G/S doesn't show on either setting. Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks again for the responses. I sure wouldn't have figured this landing speed out without them. Ok, I just flew an approach and it's apparent I was landing with my speed too high. I sure wouldn't have figured this landing speed out without them. I should have added: The aircraft and panels are downloaded freeware. I guess it's possible the panel makers didn't include the ILS panel but every one I had with FS9 had them so I assumed they would be available in FSX I fly 2D panels
  13. I'm sorry I haven't responded to all the posts....bit of a family emergency. I just read through and think I must be trying to land too fast. In FS9 I landed almost all jets from the B737 to the 747 at around 160-150 kts. It seemed to work fine in FS9 but not in FSX. As soon as I'm able to spend some time at it I'll do some experimenting and let you know. Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. BTW twojastara, that video was excellent. Thanks for posting it.
  14. I haven't tried it with smaller planes so that's something to look at. I've flown the 737, 777,787, and usually fly ILS approaches so it's a 3% glideslope. I dis-engage (is that a word?) the ILS when approximately 500 ft altitude and fly by hand on down. I have to admit that I haven't looked at what my speed is doing after turning off the Autopilot and Speed settings so maybe it's coming back up instead of bleeding off like I'm used to in FS9. It just seems strange that I never had this problem in FS9. I have set my speed indicator all the way down to stall settings with no change in the bounce. It does appear that it still wants to fly though so maybe I'll do some approaches and watch what my speed is doing very carefully. Realism settings are at medium. .
  15. I like to fly airliners and have flown on FS9 for years. I recently switched to FSX and am having a problem landing. No matter how slow I try to land it always acts as though my landing speed is much too fast. When I touch down the aircraft bounces up then I can't get it to stall again until I'm too far down the runway. When I flew in FS9 I could always kind of "stick" the landing where it stayed down then I could activate my braking and reverse thrusters. Am I doing something wrong or is there some kind of a bug in the program?
  16. I'm trying to get some commuter ai's installed which aren't included in any of woai packages. I'm wondering if the ai aircraft (mostly aig btw) should show up in the current aircraft folder in fsx? I have been trying to use AIFP3 to install the aircraft as well as the flight plans and I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I placed the ai aircraft in my aircraft folder along with the flyable planes.
  17. Ok thanks. That's what I'll do then. And I'll copy everything to a backup this time.
  18. If I use the repair function will I lose my add-on scenery?
  19. Ok, here's what I did: I was cleaning up some aircraft I don't want and accidently deleted the default airplane. I did this some time ago and since I had saved a default flight I didn't notice the problem until today. I had installed an aircraft and tried to place a panel in it. For some reason fsx didn't like this and it kept ----. I deleted the aircraft and rebooted my computer but the problem was still there. I decided I'd just delete my fsx.cfg and let it rebuild which was a great idea except that it now needs the default "kite" to work. (of course, I inadvertently cleaned my trash out so no old cfg file either. Now when I try to load FSX it gives me an error message: "Aircraft initialization failure. Aircreation582sl red". If I tell that box to close fsx loads to my home page where I get another error message: "SimObject display engine for fsx/P3D has stopped working". I told the simobject display engine to run when fsx was loading and I don't know if this is a part of the missing aircraft or not. Could someone tell me either where I could find one on the net (I found a repaint on FlightSim) or maybe send me the file? Thanks. (I know, I know! This whole thing was pretty stupid but I did it and now I have the problem.) oops, I meant to say FSX kept freezing.
  20. Thanks. My version didn't have the FSX option. I finally decided my version was too old so I bought a new copy from Flight one. Best $25 I ever spent!
  21. I have used Panel Studio for years in FS9. I recently installed FSX and can't figure out how to use it there.
  22. Hey thanbks. I created the shortcut and it worked. Strange stuff.
  23. I've got a really strange problem. I recently bought a new computer with win7 and after searching the forums I am finally almost done loading scenery. Now, all of the sudden my desktop icon (the little airplane) has gone missing and I have one of the generic icons in it's place. If I click on it FS9 still loads just fine so there's not a problem with the program, just an awol icon. I checked my start menu and it looks the same way. I tried going to properties and change icon but that just brings up an error message "windows can't find the file %program files%\microsoft games\flight simulator 9\fs9.exe" I know that file is there because the game still loads....just the icon is gone. I tried rebooting which didn't bring it back then thought maybe I could roll back to one of the earlier fs9.cfg files but there aren't any there besides the current one. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get this icon back without starting all over?
  24. It works! Thanks N60. You saved me (and my computer) a headache. lol
  25. I just bought a new dell xps 8500 with win7. after loading fs9 I am trying to add some items to my addon scenery. When I go to settings\scenery library\add scenery (with ez scenery for instance) instead of telling me ok it opens ezscenery to the folders contained inside. I have completely uninstalled fs9 deleting the flight sim folder as well as the fs9,cfg but nothing helps. I notice addon scenery isn't in my scenery library and I seem to remember it being there on my old xp computer. I tried to add addon scenery but the same thing happens. It just opens it to the folders contained inside. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Thanks. Gary
