Ok, here's the latest, and why I need a new GPU. I uninstalled MSFS from my H:\ Drive, and re-installed on my C\ Drive. I then proceeded to load the updates (Premium-Deluxe) overnight. When I got up this morning there was an error message that the program had Graphics problems and would not continue. I re-loaded and it stopped part way telling me to update my GPU drivers because they were insufficient. (I did a screen copy of the message, then told it to continue, but when I went to paste it, it wasn't there. I don't know what I did wrong other than continuing before checking it.) So, no screen copy to show you. I checked my driver and it's the latest, so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 🙂 That's why I need a GPU.

That thread was never really completed. I, at that time was trying to figure out how to install it to another drive, as it automatically installed to my C:\. Then, upon re-installing, it suddenly asked where I wanted it installed and that's when I chose H:\. It went fine, and it's installed there now. So, I hope that helps your confusion. Sorry about the mixup. I guess I may just Do what JYW said: Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. As I have ordered a new curved monitor I will probably go ahead with a larger graphics card, but that's in the future now.

So, the question is: Is there some way to move it to my C Drive, or do I have to uninstall and start over? I got it from Microsoft Store, and can download again, but really don't want to.

Thank you. I actually have just begun using this program and haven't gotten far enough to see any frame rates as yet. But just loading an airtliner on the runway, and pushing FLY, it struggles and then just gives up and goes black. I do have this installed on an external SSD, (4tb) and wonder if that could also be part of the problem? If so, I can re-install it on my C:\ Drive which is a 2tb SSD and will handle it fine.

Can I find that out, or do I just have to open the computer and measure? The power connector does not come with the unit? Good to know (Upon reading further about my computer, it sounds like it comes with a 4pin and an 8pin cable already installed.)

Thanks guys. What I'm really concerned about is the card fitting in my computer. I called Dell, and they want to sell me one that's about 3X as much as anywhere else, and they won't tell me any other card that will fit. Also, the Specs on these cards is really greek, or russian or something. My monitior I just ordered is a curved LG 34" ultra-wide and Says the resolution is 3440X1440. So the Graphix Card will have to work with it. Also, as for the speed, and all the other information, that's where I'm lost. Here's an example and what I don't understand: Radeon HD 5450 Low Profile Graphics Card, 2GB GDDR3 64-bit, HDMI DVI-I VGA, PCI Express x16, DirectX 11, Video Card for PC, Computer GPU, 2 Monitors Support Oh, the computer has a 850W power supply, so it's probably big enough, huh? Is there any way to find out what is compatable with my computer? I guess the rest of it I can probably get from the dealer.

I currently have a Dell XPS 8930 Desktop for my MSFS. It has a GForce GTX 1050 ti card now, and it isn't working as the program shuts off after just a short (20-30 seconds) time. So, I'm looking for a new graphics card that will fit in my Computer. Something in the 200-350 dollar range is what I can afford. I have no idea how to understand all the specifications on each card to know if I should buy. Also I don't know how to find out if it will fit. The Dell site is absolutely no help at all. Also, I have 16gb RAM. Would it help to upgrade to 32gb? Any help someone can give would be much appreciated. Gary

I'm slowly working my way through this tool and have run into questions: Can someone explain how presets work and the right way to install them? Also, the same for Dependencies. I have read on the web until I'm almost blind, and I have gone through and downloaded "Managing addons in MSFS Addons Linker", but I guess I'm not smart enough to figure this part out. Any help would be appreciated. Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Not sure I believe him. After thinking about it, it the SSD fits, why would the Storage amount make any difference?

Well, my machine will does not have an internal slot for another SSD. And, tech from Dell told me I can only have C:\ of max 1tb.

I'll have to check. That would be good. I have a Dell XPS Desktop, so I'll contact Dell and see.

Where do I look? My C:\ drive shows both the Community and Official files. However, my H:\ , In a WPSYSTEM folder shows a folder with a bunch of numbers and letters/AppData/, then a path very much like in C which ends with the two folders. So maybe that's where they will go, huh? The Official folder in both SSD's show contents. Although they look slightly different with some (they look like nOTEBOOK saved files in C:\), but I can't open them. What can I download that will show in the community folder to prove this? I've got quite a lot of other stuff, It's a 4tb, but still only has a little over 1.5tb. Almost 2.5tb left. However, unless it will run fine as it is, I have decided to bite the bullet and buy a 2tb WD Black and change out my C:\.. I'm just waiting for confirmation from Western Digital that it is compatible with my computer. Sure do appreciate your patience and information. Gary

Well guys, after all of this I tried making new Community and Official folders in my H:| drive, then because I had nothing in community, I tried to just move the Files from my C:| Official, to the new one in my H drive. I then changed both the Community and Official to communityold, etc. Then I changed the path in the cfg file to show new path. It did not work...SO, I changed everything back to normal (including cfg), It now would not start at all. so I uninstalled MSFS, went to MSStore and it asked my where, so I picked H:| and downloaded it again. The download stopped and showed an error, and I could not get rid of it to try again. Finally called MSFS support, and they got me out of the lockup. When they told me to try downloading again, it came up with the PLAY button. I pushed it, and It worked, so I now have the whole thing where I originally wanted. If it works ok from the H drive, I guess maybe my problems are over???? One other thing: Microsoft told my you cannot move folders out of installation drive, and that's why I was getting the message that I wasn't authorized. Not sure if I believe them or not, but that's what they told me. Again, thank you for all the help. I learned a lot, and that's saying something for a 79 year old! Oh! if I ever do need to upload a picture, and since I don't have a site for a URL, how would I do it?

Bert and Mike, thanks guys. Also, once again, Turbomax. I'm confused though. My Settings/apps and features looks just like Bert's settings for windows 10. Apparently the other pictures are from Windows 11. Should have said I have 10. When I first called up my Settings/Apps and Features, MSFS was not shown at all. So I went to the first search box right above where the Apps start to show, and I typed in "Windows Flight Simulator". Then it did show up, however it Looks different as the icon is greyed out. And, there are no (three dots) anywhere to be found. The only option I can find is either Move or Uninstall. And, by double clicking I get and Advanced Option, but it's no help either. Since I don't want to do either, I'm stuck right there. I don't have a URL or I would post a picture. I tried to copy and paste, but it would not work. (Not surprising)

Thanks again for the replies. I have only one problem for now. When I try to copy and paste packages or community folders to another drive I get an error msg telling me "Your organization does not allow you to paste this file here". I've been on the internet looking to find a solution to this, but so far, nothing works. One post said to archive the folder with 7zip, but it will not work because there are no files in it. Not sure what to download in order to do this. I tried downloading the A320 NEO, but it does not show up in community folder. Oh, one more thing. When changing the UserCfg.opt line, how much of the original line needs to be included?

I bought Deluxe Premium from the Microsoft Store. From what I have read, I would have been better off not getting it there. But..that's what it is. I did look in my content manager and both are listed, so I guess I will figure I have them. In reading, someone said to look for the B747-10, because only Premium supplies it.

turbomax: Thanks for the great guides. Some I have found, but not the cfg opt one. The reason I'm slow answering is because I have had internet problems. Startred downloading the standardf mandatory about 11pm my time, and by 11 this am it was only about 75%. Anyhow, got it fixed now. One question: When I restarted downloading the base about noon, instead of showing "Standard Mandatory", "Deluxe", and "Premium" to be downloaded, I only saw the standard mandatory. Does this mean it already got the other two? If so, is there any way to prove they are complete and ready to go? Thanks again.
