  1. I guess that is where FSX has spoiled me!
  2. Thanks, i will give that a try. Weather Vaning (that is what causes my plane to move to the left while idling?) - can that be turned off completely i wonder?
  3. Weather is pretty much off - high level clouds and no winds. The latest version, 10.22 i believe.
  4. I realise this subject may have been raised before, but im still having problems (being very new to XPlane 10) I bought the Carenado CT210, but despite my sticks being properly calibrated, it banks to the left so bad its unflyable. Even idling on the ground, as soon as i release the brakes, it turns. If i turn on the autpilot, you can see the ailerons are full, trying to compensate for the banking. Something to do with torque, apparently. Duel engined planes dont have the problem, am i right?
  5. This looks very useful, especially for the VRInsight CDU II panel - i might dust mine off again and give this a go. But for some reason my FPS drops exactly but half when i undock a window. Weird...
  6. No, but its not PMDG's fault either - you need to check the backup software is running, you need to make sure your files are being backed up correctly. You are responsible for the files on your computer.
  7. Hi guys, I dont suppose anyone would be so kind as to share a LINDA config for the CS707 if they have one? Im having trouble setting it up. Take the heading, for example - I can see LVars in the LINDA Console LUA.0: [L] LVar: L08_011_KNOB = 82 LUA.0: [L] LVar: L08_005_BUG = 1.21 but im have a real hard time assigning this to my VRInsight MCP Boeing panel. Also, i have found L09_002_LT = 2 and L09_002_LT = 0 for the press and release of the G/S button. Can someone just tell me what the LUA functions would be? This is what i have so far in my new CS_707 module i created: function CS_707_GSlope_Press() ipc.writeLvar("L:L09_002_LT", 2) end And help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Thanks for the info. Yep, i made a typo! Should be "My graphics card (a GTX 670) has DVI outs, but the screens i am looking to buy only takes HDMI. If this will work, what adapter should i buy?" Didnt know there was more than one type of DVI - this is getting confusing!
  9. I read (may mis-read!) ages ago that a DVI graphics card cannot work with an HDMI monitor if using a DVI -> HDMI converter adapter dongle thing. Is this correct? Has anyone done this, or had problems doing so? My graphics card (a GTX 670) has DVI outs, but the screens i am looking to buy only take DVI. If this will work, what adapter should i buy? Thanks!
  10. Hi, mate. This what you were looking for? http://www.flight1.c...uct=soundstream It is payware, but stops the sound muting in FSX when you change windows. Works great.

  12. Does the '-8' in "Flight takes 8 hours so you need to take off at 19:00 - 8 = 11:00UTC" mean flight time, or the time difference at KSFO? Sorry, iv found something that im not sure is right: KJFK (-5 UTC) to EGLL (UTC 0), flight time 3 hours (concorde!) From your example, to land in London at 14:00 14:00 + 5 hours (UTC difference) = 19:00 Minus 3 hour flight time = 16:00 Minus difference at KJFK (5) = 1100
  13. Thank you, sir! Thats pretty much what i had, but the more i thought about it, the more wrong it seemed! Thanks again.
  14. The calculation is obviously not difficult, but today my brain refuses to work; the more i think about this, the more tangled im getting... Lets say im taking off from KORD (GMT -6), flying to KSFO (GMT -8). Assuming the flight is 8 hours, what time should i take off to land at KSFO 13:00 local time? How would i work this out for any flight, such as to land at EGLL (GMT 0) at 0930 from HECA (GMT +2).
  15. Thats cool man. How do you get the camera views in the intro? Iv always wanted to have a go and making a video, but i have absolutely no idea where to start...
  16. http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ Lets you test a site.
  17. Hi guys, just a real quick question: When i import my flight plan into AS2012, it offers to intstall textures snaphots based on the weather. Over many flights, and texture resinstalls, are previous textures over written? Im wondering if my drive will eventually fill up! Also, if i choose not to install the suggested textures (during flight plan import), will that affect weather depiction in FSX? I have a manully created theme installed that i really like, but im wondering that it might not be compatible with the current weather. Ok, re average winds in the Flight Plane page. At the bottom of the plan, it gives Averages and also Wind Component. Currently, i have 242/27 next to averages (in Wind Dir and Spd colums), but 20 for Wind Component (just in Wind Spd column). Can someone please let me know the difference between these are? Thank you for your help.
  18. Why cant FSUIPC axis be assigned for the NGX? I dont seem to have any problems...?
  19. Got, it thanks. So now my only problem is restarting the APU after shutting it down, them im done:)
  20. Seem the BAT DISCHARGE is coming on instantly, and stays on, so have have to use ground. Restarting FSX doesnt help. Once the engines are running, i switch the APU off. Once it is off however, i cant get it back on, even if i leave it 10 mins Edit - set battery life to indefinate in FSUIPC; a little bit cheaty, but it helps until i can get used to this.
  21. Thanks all for your help, definately made a difference. How long should i wait before starting the APU after shutting it off (so i can practise shutting the plane down) Im still getting the Fail light, even after leaving the plane running for 10 minutes. I flick the APU BLEED switch to the down position, then the APU switch to Start. Still get the Fail light. My overhead looks exactly the same as the default one does when the plane loads. Also, from C&D, the APU will only start if ground power and Air Start unit is connected. I did notice the BAT DISCHARGE light comes on as soon as i turn on the battery. Setting the dial to STBY PWR works, tho.
  22. Thanks for your help guys. Yep, its power is connected in the FMC. James, what you said about #2 - Interesting to know that the APU needs ground power even tho the engines are on. I thought the APU was started during taxi from the runway to the gate?
  23. Hi, All! I have a coupla question re the APU: 1. Need to click to 'start' a few times for the fault light to go - tried moving the middle APU bleed switch to reset, then back down. Eventually, it bites, but takes a few attempts. 2. So to practice the shutdown procedure, im start from C&D, then shutting down. But again, the APU wont start. APU Bleed is on, flick the switch to Start. Low Oil Pressure and Fault is on. Cant get it to fire at all. All failures are off. 3. Also, once the engines are on, how long should the APU take (the EGT dial by the APU switch) to go to zero? Is it linked to the Packs at all? 4. Is that dial the only way to monitor the APU? Is there an N1 or N2 reading somewhere for it? Can someone please help me? Thanks for your time.
  24. Ok, so after a little research, and some advice from you guys, iv removed my 460 and 560, and installed a GTX670. So far so good! 3DMark 2011 reported it to be literally twice as fast as my 560. A much cleaner way of doing it. Windows is picking up the third display, i have my two DVI's working, and this is the config, from the graphics card: 1 Monitor -> DVI 1 Monitor -> DisplayPort via an active DVI converter (apparently, it has to be active for DP to DVI, even tho it looks like a normal coverter) 1 Monitor VGA (soon to be the CDU) -> DVI via normal adapter. Thanks to everyone that helped out, i really appreciate your time.
  25. Thanks guys, thats a big help. So are you saying that the spare 460 is now causing my 560 to run slower? The 670 has 3 DVI outputs? Do they all have this? I saw some 670s that have two DVI and one full size HDMI - but i would need to convert the HDMI to VGA for my hardware FMC. Cloudkid, some results and how you have it set up would be really useful, thanks!
