  1. Nick De J gets it correct. You guys are getting too good. Ok here goes another.#7 During an engine start when do the EEC's become active?
  2. Question #6 : How tired is Jkac after a red eye1) so tired he can't even spell his name right2) So tired that hzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzOk but the real question is:During engine start, as the engine N2 accelerates through 50% you notice the oil press is still 0. What do you do?Jack C
  3. Yes sir. About 50%. Pretty amazing considering its only 5%. Well I am off to do the red eye flight so take cares all and will post some more tomorrow!Jack C
  4. Basically two simple rules to the NG when it comes to the electrical. The AC system is never in parallel and there is only source of electrical power connected to a transfer bus at one time. As soon as you try and connect a new source it disconnects the previous source.3 mins for cool down is correct. The next question is for those people who wonder what the real benefit of reduced/ derated take offs.#5 What is the approximate reduction in wear and tear on the engine of the first 5% reduction from a full rated thrust take off?Jack C
  5. Well heck that was quick Alex. And right too.#4 What is the minimum recommended cool down time of the engines before shutting them down?Jack C
  6. I suppose that is a bit of a tough one. Its 23v. I tried to look for it on mycockpit too but couldn't find it. To be fair it is on our preliminary checklist. I will take a look and see if I could find it in a manual. Here is a bit of an easier one.#3 What are the altitude restrictions for the following loads on the APU1) Bleed air + Electrical2) Bleed air3) Electrical4) Max altitude for APU startJack C
  7. In fact, I am going to have a nice intimate evening with my 737 tonight on a red eye (that was just said in a very sarcastic tone). Jack C
  8. John's still the closest and so very close!Jack C
  9. Hey again Mike. Funny how you get into this. In my years in aviation I have never seen quite the crowd like aviators. Flight simmiming is sometimes somewhat the same. What I mean by all this is fellow pilots stab each other in the back constantly. I have surfed aviation forums and OMG. Talk about a negative bunch. I don't know why this is but it is. Its seems like we are fighting for each others job or something and as a sense of security (or whatever) pilots insult each other's companies, etc. I have a bunch of friends that work at Air Canada. I would never want them out of work or through layoffs. But you should see the slagging that goes on sometimes between these two companies. I am sure lots of companies in the states are like that too. Why they do it? Not sure. I have my theories but that is all they are. Sometimes I see the insults go back and forth on this website too. Maybe because it aviation related and we're cursed! Its funny because I am trying to learn the art of drumming and I am on a few forums. As well I play paintball and I am on a few forums there too. In each of these forums there is nothing but very polite, courteous people always willling to help out their fellow man. It just blows me away the positive energy you feel when you are on those forums and the help and encouragement you get there. Then you go to aviation forums and WOW. The rudeness is mind-boggling. These forums seem to be somewhat in between. I just wish they could be a lot more civilized sometimes. The goofy thing is, sometimes there will be two people arguing, insulting each other on here but if for some off chance these two people met at a pub having a beer they would probably get along like they are best of friends. If anyone ever has had an arguement on these forums with someone I wouldn't doubt if both of you ever went to an avsim get together that you would probably not even know you are shaking the guys hand that you had an arguement with, sit down, have a few drinks and talk all night not even knowing that this was the guy you thought was a meathead previously. I find it funny how hiding behind a computer can bring out the worst in us sometimes. Just remember whether it be SMS'ing, messages on forums, email, or whatever the context of a message can not usually be properly received. So try and give the other guy the benefit of the doubt if you receive their message the wrong way. Usually a sorry always does the trick down the line anyway!Just remember guys we are all here to have fun. We are not competing against each other in any manner. Help out the fellow simmer when you can and some good friendships are always created on here. I have met a bunch of people through FS'ing. Most of them I have only met 2-3 times in person. But after 8 years or so we are still chatting all the time. Its sad but I had a friend in FS'ing that used to control on VATSIM. We have chatted for years but I never actually met him. I chatted with him I think more than I talk to some of my friends that live in the same town! But not too long ago he lost the battle with cancer and I felt terrible for never taking the time to meet him. I could have on many occasions since I overnighted in his city quite a bit. This community makes it worth while when friendships are built on a common ground such as FS'ing or whatever. And if you are the one of the younger guys that planning on getting into aviation don't underestimate the power of networking. I have a friend (one of the friends referred to in the paragraph) that just finished college and now he is looking for a pilot position. Fortunately one of my friends that I used to work with owns his own company and I told my friend to apply and put my name on his resume. Well my friend called him for a job. The crummy thing is his Roger's cell phone didn't notify him of the message in his mailbox and it went undiscovered for a week! He could have cried he said. I think I could have cried for him. Man, I felt his pain. It seemed like yesterday when I was in his shoes. Any pilot knows that first job is like winning the lottery. Its hard to get. But I called my friend that owned the company and he said they will be hiring again soon.Interesting read I had quite sometime ago. If you are in aviation you can relate. Pilots are typically negative people (typically!). A psychiatris did a study on this. Basically it came down to the conclusion that ever since day one of training we are trained in our minds to think the worst. Your training is based on a negative environment. Fires, failures, bad weather, etc. And of course a pilot never stops training really. Simulator every 6 months, recurrent IFR, etc. When was the last time you have an aviation flight exam where you took off on a beautiful, clear, smooth day and did one circuit and landed and that was it. I wish! You are programmed in your head to be thinking of all the nasty things this instructor is going to pull on you. Is it going to be the simulated fire, failure, smoke. Drives some people into being a nervous wreck with all the anticipation. So story from psychiatrist goes, with all the negativity that is involved in a pilot's lifestyle this negativity is transferring into all aspects of a pilots life. A pilot typically thinks the worst. Not because of the way they really are but because of the way they been trained to be. It was an interesting article.Oh BTW, Mike, NONE of this was meant towards you or anything. I just read that part that I bolded in your post caught my eye. So instead of getting down on PMDG about release dates or anything lets give them the postive support they want to see when they are probing these forums. You and I both KNOW bugging them about release dates are going to do ANYTHING but produce negative comments. In the meantime have fun and be safe!Jack C
  10. Etienne got it at 8.35psi#3 What is the minimum battery voltage you should have in order to start the APU?Jack COLWILL if that makes you happy Christian.
  11. All these people waiting for the 737 and no one knows?Jack C
  12. Oh great! Jonesy ruined it for everyone! OK, Cams answers don't count. We work at the same company and he has access to al these answers. Go overclock your system Jonesy! hehe Question #2:What will the cabin pressure differential (in psid) be at a cruise altitude of 39000 feet?
  13. These will be simple for some and for some they might have to look it up but lets have some fun! OK here goes:1) You are on approach for landing and you select the landing gear down. The Nose gear light is GREEN, the Left gear light is GREEN but the right gear light is RED what does this mean and are you able to land?Oh yeah, they are multiple choice! After first correct answer we continue with question #2!
  14. OK just to get peoples mind off this release date topic. I will make a post outside of this post asking simple systems questions just to get some fun started. If Ryan could make it a sticky that would be great!Jack C
  15. Hey Mike. I hear everything you are saying. But estimates are meaningless. At any time PMDG could hit a glitch and release date is postponed by a month. So why bother giving a release time frame. I wouldn't. Too many things can happen. Besides if they said 2010 and it comes out in 2011, think of them as simulating REAL delivery dates. Proposed delivery dates are never on time! See how good they are at making it AS REAL AS IT GETS?Jack C
  16. I bougtht a:Asus Rampage IIII7 980XeVGA 480 Superclocked6 Gig Corsair Tri channelSilverstone 1500WHuge Coolermaster case80 gig SSD drive and I tell you I never paid anywhere near 6K. I think about 3-4K. A USB keyboard should be fine. I can get into my bios with it. Are you plugged into a HUB? Try plugging directly into the mobo. Like Ryan says, that processor OC's nicely. I get a stable 4.3.Jack C
  17. If I could only have a cent for each time a release date comment has been made. The way I see it is you should ALL know by know (after MANY years) where PMDG stands on release dates. IF it doesn't get released in 2010, it's not PMDGs fault you are grumpy about it, its YOURS for not paying attention for the last few years about PMDGs comments on release dates. Come on guys, get with the program. The release date comments are getting extremely old and boring. Sorry to be blunt but its like hearing Bart go "are we there yet, are we there yet" over and over again!Jack C
  18. Hey Tomer. Just off the top of my head that might sound like you have the Isolation valve closed. With the valve closed it would be possible to start the left engine but not the right engine if you are using APU bleed air.Jack C
  19. Come on Robert, does picking up women REALLY have ANYTHING to do with the 37? hehe. Had to say it.Jack C
  20. In your explanation you have no mention of GW. Don't forget to mention that or else you will have people start reporting it as a bug!Jack C
  21. For the 700W its something like at 143,000 pounds, if the speedbrake is extended to the flight detent, at 320 knots the load relief will move the brakes to the 50% position.Jack C
