Somebody call the NTSB or, maybe Microsoft?
Have you check the realism settings for displaying Indicated or true airspeed? For realism, you should set it to indicated airspeed. Dan H.

How high do I fly?
+1 to sgtscarfy Anything less than 300 miles use the distance for the altitude, eg. For 80nm use 8000ft (if westbound, I would use 9000ft for eastbound) and so on... Dan

[Question] How to land a 6-degree glide slope
If you wanna do it, use airbrakes with full flaps and land with the airbrakes extended. Some aircraft are approved to land with the airbrakes extended with full flaps! Dan

Design a paint Scheme and win $1200
Hi All -I don't post on here much, but as a frequent user of these forums and countless downloads from the AVSIM server I thought I would share this opportunity to some of you.Every week I get an Avweb Flash sent to my hotmail account and one of the headlines this morning is Pipistrel (Ajdovscina, Slovenia based aircraft company) is offering a contest to design a paint scheme on their new light aircraft, the Panthera.I am, by no means, a designer or an artist and would fail miserably! Here is the link:Design a paint Scheme and win $1200- All entries must be in by January 10th, 2012- They give you three templates to work from (top, bottom, and left side).I am not affiliated with this company on any account, just first thought of this forum. This would be a great opportunity for some to use your talent, as I've seen, and flown, some of the work you've done and I know one of you could win.Good luck!Dan

In a short hop, how to know which FL?
+1 on Egbert Drenth this is what most people use.redevisser's info is not correct. In Europe, and most of the World, the airspace above FL290 up to and including FL410 is called RVSM (reduced vertical separation minimum) where aircraft are separated by 1000 ft (used to be 2000 ft about a decade ago). Above FL410 its 2000 ft separation. eg. FL430 westbound, FL450 eastbound, FL470 westbound, and so on.

How to calculate if asked "to be level in X miles"
When to start down: Your altitude to lose. ex: 41,000 to lets say 12,000 (typical crossing altitude). drop the zeros and subtract, then multiply the answer by 3. ex. 41 - 12 = 29 then x 3 = 87 Start down approximately 87 nm out. How fast to descend: Take your ground speed and half it then add a zero. 450/2 = 225 add zero 2250 fpm This one is a ballpark figure to get the descent started, you'll probably find you need to descend faster than that to make a crossing and a speed restriction. For the above example you'll probably need more like 2500 fpm to make the crossing. For speed reduction. ex. 250 kias at xxxxx fix.: 1 nm for every 10 knots of airspeed needed to lose in level flight. ex. 320 kias to 250 kias = 7 nm Again, ballpark figure, you'll probably need more like 10 nm in level flight slow down, the last 10 knots of airspeed are the hardest to lose and take the longest,

Two Things
EMB 190 prob: Sounds like a weight and balance issue. Check the position of your weights (eg. pax, fuel and empty weight). One of them is too far forward.Dan

FS9 and black screen
I know this is a late reply...What worked for me was to deselect anti-aliasing in FS9.Running W7 x64 w/ nVidia card.
