  1. Setting mesh resolution to 10m or 19m did not change results. If you hit front gear in this invisible obstacle (landing higher than GS) then you end up with a sinking nose at landing (gear damaged).
  2. Same issue with KSEA 16R running FSX with DX10, ORBX scenery, PMDG 777. Disabling crash detection just makes your airplane change altitude abruptly, in my case it flattens to the runway instantaneously, from something like 50 or so feet high. Will try lowering the mesh resolution. It doesn´t happen all the times, if you are flying a smaller aircraft or is higher than expected for landing you may escape these barriers or level shifts and land normally.
  3. I have experienced different Carenado aircraft with the G1000 cockpit. Performance difference is big among TBM850, CT182T and C208B Grand Caravan EX. For the first two, specially CT182T, fps has dips and lots of stuttering during flight. The C208B performs well, no dips, no suttering, stable fps (locked at 30). Did anybody else experienced this? Is there a fix, like replacing gauges form one to the other?
  4. Hi JimmiG, I know this topic is old but I have tried recently the Carenado C208B Grand Caravan EX that has the same G1000 glass cockpit and the performance is much better than CT 182T, no periodic dips and locked 30 fps with ORBX scenery. For CT 182T I can get close to 30 fps lock but a lot of sttutering and dips, as mentioned. Do you think replacing the G1000 set with the one in C208B could bring the same performace to C182T? Is it possible?
  5. About HDMI x DVI, I also faced same problems with HDMI but at the end, with proper settings and a proper TV/Monitor, today HDMI and DVI have exactly the same appearance for me. Not to talk about the old analog VGA connector, that always presented very crisp and clear signals, even compared to HDMI. It seems the chroma subsampling or the way the TV presents color, using HDMI, plays an important role. Video card set to 32-bit color is also important. In my TV, for example (Philips full HD 32”), I have to turn it on before the computer, otherwise I get artifacts on screen, something like the chorma subsampling issues I mentioned before. Also, switching among sources on the TV and back to the PC yields similar results and for “fixing” it I have to turn the TV on and off. I´m sure with correct adjustments you can get a good image with HDMI unless you TV/Monitor has some limitations using this interface. Some useful information on 4k monitors: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/1381724-official-4-4-4-chroma-subsampling-thread.html.
  6. I have checked with my gear and can get average of 60 FPS at KJFK with standard 737-800 aircraft. Settings are usually high, except for autogen and scenery that are in the middle. This is all with default scenery, except for the use of REX2. If you have other add-ons there may be the difference. With your configuration I would expect even higher frame rates.Try checking the video card settings. I set them more to the performance side than to the quality side. AA and mip mapping settings seem to make a difference.
  7. I have a less robust system than yours and let me tell you what happened to me, but I have no explanation for that. FSX requires a lot of tweaking and I must confess it is beyond my available time to take advantage of excellent information you can find on this forum. I have started with a fresh Windows 7 64 bit installation. First results for the NGX, with stock clock of 2.80GHz, were bad, 14-20 FPS at Seattle, fair weather. By overclocking using the MB tool I got few improvement but suddenly, out of the blue, by overclocking using the BIOS (just set to 4.0GHz, 20x multiplier) resulted in a huge boost, to 30 FPS average, peaking around 40 or so. Also, playing with the performance settings of NGX (using the CDU) and video card settings (Catalyst control panel) can give you a lot of improvement. I hope this helps. Try cmpbellsjc tips. I´m sure it will give you a huge improvement, though your system is robust enough to handle NGX mostly as it is by default. I will check with default aircraft at JFK and post the results here..
  8. I see two possible paths, at least: use all the tweaks mentioned, reducing FPS for the instruments, shut down Copilot instruments, move sliders to the left, most will give you some improvement, but some may be not relevant. The other option is to get a new hardware. A not so expensive one can do the job (I mean, below US$1k). I do agree it makes no sense to remove details from this aircraft and if you need a simpler one there are several available, including running FS2004.
  9. Adding to the list, I am facing FSX freeze with the 737 NGX only. Requires task manager FSX shut-down. Other complex aircraft (e.g. 767 CpatainSim) run without a problem, even with cursors maxed out and add-ons like REX and ORBX running in parallel. It happnes after 15 or so minutes of flight, when preparing to land (flaps, landing gear, ILS capture). I don´t think it is lack of resources from the computer. Total allocated memory is around 4GB and there is plenty left to be used. Sometimes the computer crashes and requires a reset but this may be related to overclocking, eventhough it doesn´t happen with other add-ons (aircraft). If PMDG can tell us a solution is coming I can sleep again since this is a wonderful aircraft but could not have a full flight yet.
  10. I have seen such problems for different aircraft. As far as I could determine and read form the internet, forums, etc, it is related to lack of resources from your computer. The more demanding the aircraft and add-ons you are running, the more frequent you will see this skelleton plane and FSX crashes. If you are running Windows XP then your 8GBytes of RAM are limited to 3GB. You can play with the fsx.cfg file and try to minimize it but final solution seems to use an OS that can address more memory and manage it more efficiently. I have switched to Windows 7 and now all of this is part of the past, but 737 NGX has introduced a new problem (FSX crashes after 10 minutes or so) that I will post after searching for other related topics. All of this is useless if you are already using Windows 7. Can you post your full specs, including OS?
  11. I had a similar problem since I run FSX at my 3 PCs at home and have reinstalled a couple of times due to upgrades to the OS or hardware. Have opened a ticket at the support page a week ago but still no reply. Can someone help me? My customer name is iescheck.Ticket Number1D4-13E8D0AA-491FStatusOpenCreated8/1/2010Ticket number is 1D4-13E8D0AA-491F opened 8/1/2010.I hope it never happens but the day PMDG shuts down will we still be able to install the aircrafts? I got a permanent serial from Suprunov Design for my Yak-40 but for PMDG and Captain Sim the registration is online.
