  1. [....]The data will be there. You just can't see it on an AS screen. HiFi worked on this many moons ago and they are still working : below a copy of my HiFi-ticket related to "Wind aloft at very high altitude" : Posted on: 27 March 2013 10:56 AM "Hi, I'm currently using a registered version (4.86) of FSUIPC with AS2012 SP2. Flying with Concorde_X (FSLabs) at M2.02 and FL 580 with a targeted FL600, AS temps are available (-72°C = delta ISA -15) and AS winds are also available but with a null speed 344/0 kts ? Is that due to the max FL490 available in AS ? I've got an active FPL FAOR-FMEE currently running within AS with FL600 as my planned altitude. Thanks for taking into consideration. Best regards" their answer : Posted on: 29 March 2013 07:22 PM "Hi Jean, We are aware of an issue with FSUIPC and the "Wind Smoothing" option which prevents winds from being depicted above FL520. Peter Dowson (FSUIPC Author) has been made aware of this but he is on vacation at the moment. We hope to have him look at this very soon. Damian Clark HiFi Technologies, Inc. Thanks Damian. Just hope Peter Dowson will fix the issue asap.
  2. Hi, With AS2012, how can I get real winds and temps at FL 550 or 600 ? those FLs were typical for Concorde at the time she was flying. As the maximum FL seems to be 490, is there a way to extrapolate current wind and temp at FL490 to get them available at FL600 ? Do I need to import into AS2012 my Concorde FPL with a targeted FL=600, to get that kind of data ? Thanks
  3. Sorry, but with all the different S-Packs that have been released, I do not remember about the 737-8900 and 737-6700 installation sequence (I'm not talking about re-installation) am I correct if I proceed with the following sequence for the 737-8900 (that excludes SP1 + SP1b) : 1) PMDG 737 8900 NGX RTM.exe 2) PMDG 737 8900 NGX SP1c.exe same thing for the 737-6700 : 1) PMDG 737 6700 NGX RTM.exe 2) PMDG 737 6700 NGX SP1c Update.exe just want to make sure Merci
  4. The previous related topic is now rather aged, so I re-open it for the following reason : 1) the Duke Turbine Sound package files v1.2 works pretty fine with FSX, thanks to JB the dev ; 2) I just made the Duke Turbine migration to Prepar3D, and it went pretty fine ; 3) I tried to re-install the Sound package v1.2 as per the readme and the illustration.jpg provided with the sound package v1.2. I'm 99% sure I did the whole process the right way, including the 2 lines added after the last gauge entry in the [VCockpit01] section of the panel.cfg located : Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D/SimObjects/Airplanes/RealAir Duke Turbine/panel gauge25=DUKE_Cockpit_sounds!Sound, 2,2,2,2,./sound/DUKE_TURB_Cockpit/DUKE_TURB_sound.ini gauge26=DukeT_Cockpit_Sounds!DUKE_TURB_SoundManager, 3,3,3,3 but there is no sounds from the v1.2 package. The Turbine Duke other sounds are OK. Has anyone of you tried the same migration and sound package v1.2 installation to Prepar3D ? Could it be related to a wrong path in the gauge 25 & 26 descriptions above ? Merci d'avance
  5. i can't remember if there is (or not) a transparency setting somewhere for the 2D panels ? that's not really a big deal but all my 2D panels are now much more transparent than before. Any explanation ?
  6. "flap_motor=0, 5, 12 //default 4,5,12 gear_motor=0, 5, 12 //default 4,5,12" good to know and far better this way ! grazie mille my friend
  7. Are gear & flaps hydraulic systems driven with left engine only ? Did you notice when L engine is shut down gear&flaps are both inop ? Have a try with only R engine shut down and you should notice they are both available. Good to know....
  8. Just a few remarks about this great "Turbine Duke" addon : - while flying a stabilized cruise at FL200, the elevator trim indicator tooltip reads -19° ???? and the corresponding white triangle is located between 0° and -5° ?? - what should be the L or R correct genarator load at startup ? (mine read 15 instead of 0.5 max according to the c/l) and during flight (mine read 32.5) ? - the stopwatch provided on the control wheel is fine but there is no way to use it as a real stopwatch ???
  9. "... this should be they way it is done in real-life........" Thanks very much Andrea page 15 of Yoda's tuto : " You shouldn't leave the pitot heat, fuel vent heat, or windshield heat on while on the ground, since you may burn out the heating elements " the problem is that pitot heat, fuel vent heat, or windshield heat are never switched to ON at any time ??? Just something missing in the "Before Take-Off" c/l you should be aware of
  10. from the Kurt Yoda's tuto I can read both the fuel boost-pumps switches are ON from "Before engine starting" c/l until "Shutdown and securing" c/l can anyone confirm this is correct ?
  11. Have a look on http://forum.avsim.net/topic/372742-manual-start-proc/ where ground manual-start and in-flight relight are covered/decribed step by step
  12. Would it be possible to add instruments magnifiers to allow big zooms on ADIs + HSIs + engines panel, just like the ones provided with the NGX that are of great help ? For those of us not owning Track IR, that would be great, cause those instruments, while depicted at their correct sizes I guess, are rather small.

  14. thanks Stefan ! just tried and it worked fine. Caution : before all, make sure the corresponding prop is physically unfeathered. "As for the start in flight I think the Air is turning the Prop so you only have to have it at energize" No,when feathered the prop stops spinning. Before attempting an in-flight manual start, just make sure the corresponding prop is physically unfeathered (and the condition lever is set to the flight position ? to be checked cause I did not try with the cond lever in the taxi position). No need to turn the Start Master switch to the side you want to start (this is to be done on the ground only), just leave it in the AIR position.
  15. Can I perform a manual start while on the ground instead of a normal one ? (manual start proc is described in the JS41 AOM Chapter 8.6 - Engines and Propellers Engine Controls and Indications - page 363 I tried many times to follow the steps indicated in Manual start "A rotary switch with four positions is installed. The switch permits a manual start of the engine if the auto start function of the IEC..." without any success. Could someone provide the whole proc step by step ? should a manual start be performed only if the auto start function of the IEC is unserviceable or in the OFF condition ? can I perform a manual start while in flight after a voluntary normal engine shutdown with the corresponding prop feathered ?
  16. "Wind Direction" Please confirm true or magnetic ? I have in mind that wind is given with True North as reference in all written stuff (METAR) and magnetic in all spoken stuff (ATC) with v1.13c we now have the choice for "Limit Weight to Use" : field/climb/field+climb. What do they use in RW ? is the Minimum TORA Required for Climb Limit Weight a constant or a variable linked to the TOW among many other factors ? what does the message "Reduce 1.000's pounds EW" (located in C37 cell) mean ? reduce the Empty Weight by 1000 lbs ? How can I change the Empty weight ? are you talking about the DOW "Dry Operating weight" ? Thanks to give more information about that ?
  17. is it normal to have such a big difference = 5060 ft between 2 computed TORAs as follows : Minimum TORA Required for Field Limit Weight (ft) 4114 ft Minimum TORA Required for Climb Limit Weight (ft) 9174 ft am i doing something wrong ?
  18. "That you managed to takeoff in one piece, on both engines, does not mean that take-off was legal. Takeoff calculations are based on critical engine failure at, or just before, V1. The calculations are made so that you can......" Got it ! you're right Thanks to both of Peter and Israel
  19. Despite the "you need additional 2628 ft for take off" warning message, I just performed a safe take off from rwy 08 CYZW flying the 800 short field package equipped CYZW rwys 08/26 length 5500 ft elev 2612 ft ZFW 96500 lbs Fuel load 14800 lbs altimeter 29.88 OAT -4°C wind 040°/3kts no gust PAX 19 cargos 800 lbs + 1000 lbs take-off power full flaps position 1 runway condition dry engine bleed on engine & wing anti-ice off my question is : are you sure about the "TORA minimum required for climb limit" as calculated in your tool ?
  20. "Hi! The problem is that sheet contains only data for B737-800 & -800WL. The performance will not be the same as B737-600" Thanks. Are you planning to adapt your tool for the full range of Boeing models ?
  21. Hi Israel ! Could you please check with your tool and tell me if take-off is possible from runway 26 at CYWJ (route CYWJ YVQ MA CYMA) with the 737-600/short field package CYWJ 08/26 3900*100 ft elev 697 ft gravel surface CYMA 06/24 4800*100ft elev 1652 ft gravel surface alternate CYXY altimeter 29.88 OAT 4°C wind 030°/5kts no gust runway hdg 256° PAX 65 cargos 2800 + 3300 fuel load 13800 lbs ZFW 97740 lbs take-off power full flaps position 1 runway condition dry engine bleed on engine & wing anti-ice off with the following data I get the warning message : " you need additional 4199 ft for Take Off" Many thanks
  22. "The OP is asking how to set up altitude constraints in the FMC." not in the FMC, but in the A/P altitude selection window and the associated rotating knob "In this case I'm guessing that these aren't actual constraints..." no doubt about that : they are altitudes constraints on the plate provided. Have a look the way they are depicted with the 2 lines over and under the altitude which means constraint i.e not above no below the mentionned altitude
  23. "This is not used for (RW) aeronautical navigation." True John ! anyway the data on this EFB chart come from Navigraph AIRAC 1204. I'd like to see the Jeppesen plate for this specific approach RNAV 07 FZQA "Sorry, with the 50ft steps I was refering to the LANDING ALT not to the CRUISE" thanks Aykut for amending your first post. I do now understand
