Hello Bob: you said that you have a Mac Pro.. the question is: do you run Windows on that machine? If you read the license from PMDG you will find that their program runs on Windows ONLY!!! For me that was a reason to install X-Plane also under Windows, as I only had it running under Linux until that excellent plane was published by PMDG. If you have Windows however, you might want to clean up the registry before re-installing the plane. I made several installations with success and never was asked for a key except the first time. So I assume that the product key is stored somewhere for the DC-6 to find. Are you able to load the plane after your "secret" installation? If so, does it have the tool bar on the left side of the screen (you need that to get rid of the ground equipment for instance). Does the steering move the front whee? But not rudder, elevator or ailerons? If that is the case you have to unlock the gust lock in the cockpit (see manual). It is easy to forget and I had that problem too... After some experimenting and help from this forum I got it to work in XP11 with a symbolic link to the installed version in XP10. At first I wanted to install the plane directly into XP11, but the PMDG installer only offered repair or de-install options.... In case you are not familiar with symlinks, simply do this: Open a command prompt as administrator in Windows and go to your XP11 aircraft directory, then issue the command mklink /J "DC-6" "I:\Games\X-Plane 10\AIrcraft\PMDG\DC-6" and press ENTER. This should do it for you as it did for me... All works fine in XP11 and in addition I saved some HD space in the process ;-) Hope this helps.

Great! I have that wonderful bird installed in version 10.51 and it works just fine. When trying to install into x-Plane 11.00pb1 the installer did not offer that option, it only wanted to de-install or repair my XP10 installation... As I did not want either of those options I simply copied tzhe PMDG directory over into XP11 and was able to load the plane without errors. However, the instruments are all dead.... So, how did you get the plane installed into the latest beta version? Thanks you for your help.

Yep, that is important in those big planes, they tend to get overheated quickly and collect some damage.... I´ll most certainly keep a watchful eye on those radials and keep them in good condition.... :smile: Best wishes, Juergen Vollmer

Hello Kyle: you nailed it! I had an error in the log.txt as to the plugin activation and therefore I decided to deinstall the plane and re-install from scratch. This time it worked as advertized, I was prompted for the registration key and asked to restart the simulator. After that all llok normal.... However, I cannot use my joystick for now. the front wheel moves, but the ailerons, rudder and elevator stay blocked. Did I miss something? I hae calibrated the joystick but that did not help. I have purchased the new DC-6 yesterday and installed it correctly. However. there are two strange things i observed: 1) I never was asked for my registration key (but the plane seems to work ok) 2) there is an extra layer in the cockpit view after the aircraft shows up. In form of the regular cockpit there appears another structure, very similar to the cockpit view, but less sharp and it looks simply ugly. If I were able to upload a screenshot here, I can show what I see. I am a newbie in this forum and would appreciate some help. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions Juergen Edited: I have now deinstalled and reinstalled the plane again and this time I was asked for my serial... and the cockpit looks normal. Joystick seems deactivated though...

I really hope that this is true... I use X-Plane 10 under Linux and it works like a charm! Has there been any more news from PMDG since May which I might have missed?

Oh yeah, I could not agree more, as the Connie is still the most beautiful plane ever produced! It also was the first airliner I ever came close to when our school class visited Frankfurt/Main airport in 1957 or 58 and a Lufthansa Starliner was parked on the tarmac. we were allowed to climb in and since then I am in love with this plane.... The DC-6B and then DC-7 were strong competitors of the Constellations and they all deserve to live on in the simulated skies!!! For many it may just be too demanding to fly those old ladies and they prefer modern computerized aircraft to simply push buttons and let the AI do the rest. These older birds require airmanship and piloting skills, the full attention of the crew and so on. That is exactly what I like and I will always prefer them over any modern jet (with the exception of the Concorde, but again that is not really "modern"...). So, THANK YOU, PMDG, and please give us more of these planes for the X-Plane platform! I do not think you will regret the investment.... A great weekend to all. Juergen Vollmer

For me this is like Easter and Christmas falling on the same day ;-) I like propliners and I like PMDG's quality and as a relatively new X-Plane user (10.32) I cannot wait to purchase that beautiful plane and take it for a circuit around my favorite airport..... I have to apologize but my memory failed me.... I do not have FTX Global Vector installed here, BUT: after a HD failire and complete loss of data I reinstalled FSX a few weeks ago and to save time I then copied over the files from my backup. That backup contained a series of older files from an earlier installation of FTX and so I found this file ADE_FTX_PNW_KSEA_elevation_adjustment.BGL in my scenery directory. After I renamed it, the problem is GONE!! So, you were right nevertheless, this was the consequence of conflicting scenery files for Seattle and there might be other areas which I have not yet discovered. Thank you for your ideas, but I think this is not the problem here, as I do not have any AFCAD files installed (at least not that I know of) and no AI traffic. Also, I do not have FTX vector installed here. Here is another pic form closer up to illustrate the phenomenon:

BTW I checked the altitudes of the tarmac and runways and it is at 404 ft, however the elevated green areas are at 437 ft. Perhaps this will helpt to better identify the culprit.....

Hello friends: I have encountered a strange scenery display problem today and I would like to ask for your advice on now to fix this... As you can see there seems to be a mistake in the elevation of the green parts so that the reunways and taxiways only appear intermettantly... Unfortunately, the self made solution did not stand the test of time :(After a few days and with no further changes to my system I am back to where I was before:barometric pressure jumps to 21.15 inches and cannot be set to anything else than this or STD pressure of 29.92!!!HELP please !P.S.As it seems there is at least one other user KriVa with the same problem. That tells me that it might be more common....

No reactions so far, BUT:I found a solution in the AoA forum - there seems to be an incompatibility problem with Active Sky!!!!Indeed I had Active Sky installed, deinstalled it now - and the barometric pressure settings in my PMDG744 are now correct!It seems this solved the problem!

I have experimented a bit more now and found out that the wrong altimeter setting starts to appear after I transfer to another airport. Then the pressure goes down to 22.15 inches and cannot be changed..... Any attempt to set it to standard pressure results in a short jump and then it goes back to 22.15in.Interestingly enough the problem persists when I load other aircraft and also when I go back to original airport. It is frozen at 22.15 inches and stays there....As it seems there is something with the B744 that sets the altimeter to this value when the plane is relocated to another airport. When I first load it after the C172 the indication is correct.Any ideas? Has someone else experienced this too?Thank you for your help and suggestions.

Gentlemen,I would appreciate some hints on what could be wrong with the installtion of the B744F. Sometimes, not always though, I get a wrong indcation on the MFD for the altitude. Tonight it was about 8000 feet to low! As it is linked to the autopilot gauges it is impossible to fly approaches on autopilot as it will not go belwo 0000 feet! I flew into Luxembourg ELLX which is at 1250 feet MSL and the only way is to force the plane down manually.The interesting thing is however, that the indication on the center AI (reserve) is CORRECT! It is only the indication on the MFD screen in front ot the pilot that is off.....Also the speed indication does show the correct speed, but from about 50knots upwards is decorated with the red overspeed warning.....I would appreciate any help and ideas you might have.Thank youP.S.To avoid any discussions as I have seen them when I searched this forum for a solution, yes, I have a legal copy, registered and all. Everything works fine as advertized, only this little hickup pops up from time to time (it is not predictable).
