FSX Fiber Accelerator?
There seems to be controversy over Net Framework 3.5.1. It is installed automatically with windows 7 and Windows 8. To check to see if it is installed, go to Control Panel and click on Programs and Features. Then click on Turn Windows Features on and off in the left hand column. That is it. FSX Fibre Accelerator works fine on my machine with a marked increase in frame rates, and if you read the manual it is very simple to set up. Cheers Paul Dubois

Planes That Should Be Made Into Good Payware
I would like to see a good payware representation of the Lockheed L-188 Electra. I know KBT did a reasonable freeware job, but a good payware option would be great. Cheers Paul Dubois.

Default 737 800
Hi Shaun. As far as i'm concerned, there's no comparison at all. As former UAL Captain Mike Ray, who has written many detailed volumes on flying the Boeing and Airbus aircraft In FSX ... I quote from his book Flying the Boeing 700 Series Flight Simulators..."If you are flying the default airplanes that come included in Microsoft Flight Simulator, you are simply wasting your time". "I even consider exposure to their cockpits and flight modeling to be negative training". "What I am trying to say, is if you are a serious Boeing 700 Series flight simmer, DO NOT EVEN OPEN the default airplanes". Captain Ray goes on to say and I quote " Trying to learn to fly using the cockpit and flight instruments, makes the whole experience totally confusing". "After literally thousands of hours flying "real" Boeing airplanes, when I look at the default 747 or the 737 cockpits displayed in the MSFS suite of airplanes, I am confused and baffled by what I see". "These are NOT the cockpits of "real" Boeing airplanes". "Trying to apply the real-world techniques and actual airline procedures to the eclectic collection of "flight instruments" is virtually impossible". Captain Ray finishes by saying..."MSFS/ X IS THE KING...BUT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLY THE DEFAULT AIRPLANES IN MSFS/X and expect to have anything more than a game style experience". Shaun I hope this helps in some way in your enjoyment of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Regards Paul Dubois.

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi all...just an update. Since the 25th of June I have not had one CTD at shutdown. When I arrive at the gate I NEVER set the parking brakes, I just shut down both engines, and apply the wheel chocks, the proceed with the Shutdown Checklist. I use GSX, AivlaSoft EFB, Radar Contact, Topcat, Active Sky Evolution, and VRInsight MCP II Combo. Cheers Paul Dubois

FS Crash on arrivals
Just and update folks. After my last post, I thought I had the problem nailed, but alas it came back...how frustrating. I still believe the CTD has to be a clash with the parking brake. I have not been using the parking brake of late, and when I shut down the engines, I followed another suggestion in the forum where I went straight to the FMC/CDU, add the wheel chocks and continue on with disarm slides, open doors, shutdown procedure etc. So far...no more CTD's. It's worth a try. Cheers Paul Dubois

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi Bryan, thank you for your reply. Just an update, flew five consecutive sectors today and FS2Crew performed faultlessly, as did GSX. I used the keyboard full stop to operate parking brakes and all worked fine. Kind regards Paul Dubois

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi Bryan and all those having CTD problems at engine shutdown. I now don't believe it has anything to do with GSX, as others who don't use GSX also has this problem. I belive it has do do where you place the FS2Crew main panel. Mine was placed in the bottom left hand corner over the red and white FSX parking brakes message. After a lot of thinking and many hours spent trying to eliminate this problem, I believe I may have solved the issue. I have conducted six flights over the past 48 hours and have not had one CTD at shutdown. Here is the fix that worked for me, and I hope it works for you. Go to the fsx.cfg file...on the line "Info Brakes Enable= change True to False on the line "InfoParkingBrakesEnable=change True to False. With this action you will remove the red and white line referring to parkling brakes in FSX in the left hand corner. You will also remove brakes messages if you have rudder peddles. I've also stopped using the keyboard full stop to apply and release parking brakes, and instead I'm using the mouse to apply parking brakes on the NGX lower panel. However I will try the full stop on the keyboard and let you know what happens That's it, it worked for me. Cheers Paul Dubois

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi Bryan, I don't use FSPassengers either. Did another 2 flights last night, used FS2Crew but as I mentioned earlier used GSX to refuel catering and boarding, but after landing didn't use GSX to taxi to gate. No CTD at shutdown, then used GSX to offload passengers. No problem. As I mentioned. I only seem to get CTD when I use the GSX marshal with his batons. Cheers Paul Dubois

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi Bryan, I have the latest edition of GSX, I even completely uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version from their webside. I also thought my FSUIPC may have been corrupted, and reinstalled it also. However still getting CTD crashes, until I tried what I did in the post above. Cheers Paul Dubois.

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi all, I've just completed 8 flights to airports where I have been experiencing CTDs on engine shutdown. Eight out of eight flights completed successfully, and no CTD on engine shutdown. The only thing I did differently, was after landing, I didn't call on GSX to allocate a gate number. When I taxied to the gate I shut the engines down, and answered the disable slides call. I then called on GSX to deboard passengers. The only thing I didn't use was the GSX marshal to guide the aircraft to the gate. Hope this may be helpful in finding a solution. Cheers Paul Dubois.

FS Crash on arrivals
Hi Bryan, I also experience the above problem...CTD on engine shutdown, but only on engine shutdown...all other aspects of fs2crew work fine, preflight, startup, takeoff, descent, landing, cleanup, but as soon as I pull into the parking bay, put the parking brake on then shutdown the engines he CTD occurs. I've tried evey suggestion both in the manual, and other suggestions made by you in this forum. Now this problem doesn't happen all the time, just most of the time. I have a hunch it may have something to do with a conflict with GSX, because when I don't use it, there's no crash. The CTD seems to happen just after the marshal crosses his batons, and the messages come across the top of the screen, such as oprate jetway, or good parking etc. What makes this so frustrating is it was happening every time at Melbourne airport with the Orbx add on. I also have Orbx Australia scenery installed. However this morning I did a flight from YMLT to YMML and no CTD, however when I continued to fly on to Sydney...CTD. It seems to be an intermittant fault, which as you know is the hardest to nail down. I use the button control version, and I know this is the voice control section, but that's where I noticed a similar problem to the one I'm experiencing. Cheers Paul Dubois

CTD at Shutdown everytime
Hi again Bryan, did another four flights, didn't change slider for Orbx senery, I also have Orbx Melbourne ,Brisbane, and Canberra airports which are pretty intense and everything again worked fine... no CTDs. I don't use FS Passengers. My add ons are Radar Contact, Flight Sim Commander 9.2, Top Cat, EZCA, Active Sky Evoloution, VRInsight Combo II FCU, and REX Extreme, but not for weather. I did read somwhere that the default FSX trike needs GaugeSound.dll to operate properly. I understand what you said in your reply, but it semms to have worked for me. I don't know why or how, but since I installed the dll file, and I didn't change anything else, no CTDs. Thank you for your reply. I'm just happy FS2Crew is now working faultlessly. Kind regards Paul Dubois, and keep up the excellent work.

CTD at Shutdown everytime
Hi Bryan and fellow Flight Sim enthuiasts, this is my first post, however may have found a solution for CTD's at shutdown. I have Windows 7 64bit system installed, an Intel i7 9XX processor (not overclocked), and an Nvidia 580 Graphics card, and 12 gig of RAM. Since version 1.3, nearly everytime I shut down the engines, I would get a CTD. I did everything the manual suggested...rolled back my Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Audio Sound Card to an earlier driver, started with the default trike in FSX, and 2D paner, reinstalled FSX config file, reinstalled PMDG 737 NGX, reinstalled SP 1c upate. I did this over and over again, but nearly every time got a CTD when I shut down the engines. The I saw in the FS2 crew something about GaugeSound.dll. Reading on the net everything I read said the .dll sould reside in the file Windows system 32, however mine was in Windows SYSWow64. I copied the GaugeSound.dll in the Windows SYSWow64 file into Windows system 32, and in the FSX root file. I then renamed the GaugeSound.dll in Windows SYSWow64. I have Orbx Australia installed and did four flights to where the CTD's were occurring, YMLT to YMML, YMML to YSSY, YSSY to YMML, and YMML to YMLT, and not one CTD. Bryan I think FS2Crew is a great product, and hopefully I've managed to fix the problem i was having. I hope so. Cheers Paul Dubois
